COLUMBUS Before getting a prescription for Viagra or other erectile dysfunction drugs, men would have to see a sex therapist, receive a cardiac stress test and get a notarized affidavit signed by a sexual partner affirming impotency, if state Sen. Nina Turner has her way.
The Cleveland Democrat introduced Senate Bill 307 this week.
A critic of efforts to restrict abortion and contraception for women, Turner says she is concerned about mens reproductive health. Turners bill joins a trend of female lawmakers submitting bills regulating mens health. Turner said if state policymakers want to legislate womens health choices through measures such as House Bill 125, known as the Heartbeat bill, they should also be able to legislate mens reproductive health. Ohio anti-abortion advocates say the two cant be compared.
Heartbeat bill sponsor Rep. Lynn Wachtmann, R-Napoleon, said comparing his bill to Turners would be like comparing apples to bananas. The Heartbeat bill would prohibit abortion once a heartbeat is detected, as early as six weeks into a pregnancy.
I understand some women think my bill is a personal affront, Wachtmann said. Protecting the unborn to compare this to Viagra is not even related.
Under Senate Bill 307, men taking the drugs would continue to be tested for heart problems, receive counseling about possible side effects and receive information about pursuing celibacy as a viable lifestyle choice.

I have no problem with this. If this is to correct a physical problem, then of course there should be doctors involved.
Viagra is for the women!
Tell ya what, I’m all for this lady’s idea.
However, to level the playing field and to make the arguments similar, the Viagra must be given to us FOR FREE.
After all, that’s what the other side is arguing for — FREE birth control.
Fascism is ugly.
or maybe bananas to melons?
cucumbers to kiwis? ;^(
I’m having a hard time interpreting this.
Is she, or isn’t she, dicking around?????
Only the insane liberal mind can compare murdering the unborn with the ability to achieve an erection.
If she were truly worried about men’s role in reproductive health, she would offer an amendment to the “Heartbeat bill” that required the father of the unborn child to see the ultrasound too.
But that’s not what is going on here. We are going to see political theater on various birth control/abortion/women’s rights, etc., etc., issues between now November as the Democrats try desperately to hold onto power. And we’ll see the media report this stuff as if it’s straight news, even though there is NO way the left would allow this issue to be mocked (as is so transparently the case with her proposal to get third party witnesses to a man’s ED) if we were talking about women’s sexual disfunction.
Government out of my prostate!
I have you ever wondered the woman that are pro abortion are the ones you would not F@#$k anyways
That should guarantee a black market for Viagra!
The logical argument they tried to erect is flaccid.
Hey, my Viagra is driving me to bankruptcy. This bill will get me FREE Viagra AND a free medical checkup too? Count me in.......it’s my entitlement......says so in the Constitution...I’m sure.
frivolous legislation - we need a law against that /s
If I’m not mistaken, male welfare recipients in New York already get Viagra for free....so, I guess they will be getting the heart examinations, and anything else having to do with their...errr...”readiness” to make babies that will be supported by the taxpayers OR, eventually aborted .
Screw the taxpayers, screw the ...errr...Flukes...and subsidize Planned Parenthood.
They want a sworn affidavit about a none-functioning penis from the patient's "partner?" Ok, when will abortionists be required to obtain the father's consent?
You are right Laz. Ms. Fluke wants to have the pleasure of sex but responsibilities (babies),so she wants us to pay for her birth control. Men should be treated equally. Oh, and if she wants free birth control she should have to go to a sex therapist first and consider celibacy as an option. Until she is ready for kids that is, hey what a concept!
I can see these regulations if the gov’t is paying for Viagra, but not if they pay for them out of pocket.
Most of the men I prescribe Viagra had diabetic neuropathy or have had surgery for prostate cancer. Usually we do check the heart first, if they are a diabetic.
But when you can buy narcotics on the street, all this would do is give the pushers a side line to make a profit.
She has a point. Whenever Viagra is being used to kill babies these rules should apply.
