Beyond Rush: Hannity, Beck, Levin Hit with Advertiser Bans

Efforts to silence Rush Limbaugh are apparently having a significant impact on the talk radio business as a whole, including syndicated radio shows hosted by Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and Glenn Beck.

After provocative comments made about a female Georgetown law school student, Limbaugh's show has been targeted by liberal groups that have pressured more than two dozen advertisers to drop his program from their ad buys.

Now, Rush's syndicator, Premiere Networks, is losing advertisers for other conservative programs it airs.

According to an internal Premiere memorandum obtained by Radio-Info.com, the company says 98 advertisers no longer wanted to air ad spots on any "offensive or controversial" talk programs.

Radio-Info says the list of advertisers include "carmakers (Ford, GM, Toyota), insurance companies (Allstate, Geico, Prudential, State Farm) and restaurants (McDonald’s, Subway)."

There are many things this president has done that are unconstitutional, starting with the auto bailouts. he can do anything he wants and until he is taken to task and we get a Supreme Court decision, he can keep on acting unconstitutionally. Republicans have become emasculated by the media, have no political backbone and refuse to sue for justice. Additionally, the president’s “opinion” has a lot more influence and weight than an “opinion” by Rush Limbaugh for example. The president has the power, via his much misused executive orders, to affect all of us. His opinions certainly convey his intentions.
A few years ago, who would ever have thought of so many Czars working outside the influence of anyone except the president. Who would ever have imagined that Congress would pass a major, far reaching takeover by government - Obamacare - without ever putting the bill in writing or have Congress read the bill against the wishes of the majority of Americans. Where is the Supreme Court on that issue? Who would have imagined an unchallenged recess appointment while Congress was still in session? There’s lots more...

Then why would they advertise on a political format in the first place?

I’m not sure that I understand what you mean.

There has been a concerted effort to bring down “publicly” funded programs for a good while. It has accelerated. Election year perhaps?

If the same pressure is applied to ALL..I’m good with it.

Kill them all.

No need to just be a blatant murderer. Just force them to live in homes heated with Solar or wind driven power. Have they all eat at McDonald's and Subway. Have then all just drive volts and Focus's.

That’s right. They don’t have to do business with Rush, and I don’t have to do business with them.

Of course, I wonder how involved Media Matters is in all this.

This illustrates one big reason why the MSM(print, radio, and TV) is so Left. When the Left can mount pressure on advertisers to drop non-Left programs, reporters, and commentators, then the only thing left will be the Left.

"The president has the power, via his much misused executive orders, to affect all of us. His opinions certainly convey his intentions."

Uh Huh AND even if Barry Hussein puts forth and Executive Order to Remove Rush from the airwaves...

Guess What!

Such is still not a First Amendment Issue.

The First Amendment does not guarantee a Right to be heard on the Airwaves.

Now granted such will violate other parts of our laws and the Constitution...

BUT...

IT STILL WILL NOT VIOLATE THE FIRST AMENDMENT!!!!

So again quit attaching the First Amendment to the Rush Radio issue for it is WRONG... WRONG... WRONG!!!

Use the proper argument and you leave the "Left" no room to maneuver.

HOWEVER IF YOU CONTINUALLY USE THE FIRST AMENDMENT WHEN IT IS CLEARLY NOT BEING VIOLATED YOU ALLOW THE "LEFT" TO DISMISS YOUR CASE AS BEING FULL OF CRAP AND RIGHTLY SO!

Why waste time and effort on an issue that is not so? Why not point out the actual facts which are on their own more than enough to show how corrupt the whole movement is?

I can think of only two reasons why.

Ignorance or AGITPROP.

"And which FCC rules is he accused of breaking?"

You are not allowed to Slander on the airwaves according to FCC Rules. Now one can make a case that telling the Truth about someone is not Slander BUT Courts and Juries decide such. The FCC can come down hard on stations for even the slightest rule infractions and heap on huge fines and even pull Broadcast license.

Money is the issue and the FCC can hammer the wallets of all involved legally. (Notice I said "legally" and not "morally right")

Rush did not slander anyone. And if you ever listen to any radio program the talking heads are always bashing on someone.

"Rush did not slander anyone."

Courts decide such issues and as far as the FCC is concerned your opinion on the matter means zilcho.

Deal with the reality not what you "WISH" were the facts.

Further have you noticed now the argument has morphed from the First Amendment to Rush didn't do it. Sure sign the First Amendment issue is WRONG.

"What do your buddies at DailyKos say about it?"

Actually I should ask such of you because rragging the First Amendment into the issue is either ignorance of the founding documents or AGITPROP.

Why do you wish to fog the issue with inane arguments that allow the left to get away with such tactics?

Do you have an agenda to hurt the Conservative Movment?

Sorry, but unless Rush gets NO MONEY for being on armed forces radio, what Levin is trying to do to him most CERTAINLY IS a first amendment issue. That's someone in the government pushing FOR the government to take away someone's livelihood just because he doesn't like his opinion. Limbaugh has certainly not broken any rules or laws.

I'm with you on the boycott thing not being 1st amendment related, however, I do have a problem (maybe constitutional, still not sure) with the whole thing being led by the slime at Media Matters, which somehow, last I checked, is some kind of "non-profit" entity that pays no taxes.

Nope not even close and if such is so then the Dixie Chicks have cause for A First Amendment case and trust me if such was so there would have been liberal lawyers crawling all over that one.

The First Amendment does not cover livelihood or talking on the radio it covers speech as well as freedom of religion and freedom of the press redress of grievances and the right to assembly.

So such is not a First Amendment issue and saying such just weakens the Conservative Movement and empowers the Left.

Stick to "what IS' and not to "what you WISH"...

Take it easy, Perry Mason, I'm mainly on your side in this. Think thru this with me - if Levin was trying to use his government power to get Limbaugh removed from ALL radio stations, just because he doesn't like his opinions, that most certainly would be a first amendment issue, right? So how come trying to get him removed from ONE radio station is also not a first amendment violation?

And I'm still interested in the whole media matters angle (though I still haven't reached a clear conclusion). Here's an organization who's sole purpose in life (whether they admit it or not) is to harass, and, really, silence conservative political opinion. Fine, they're clearly not breaking any laws in the actions that they specifically take, but they're ability to function and perform these actions is clearly impacted by their available finances. Finances that are greatly impacted (improved) by not having to pay taxes. Seems like some kind of substance over form issue going on there.

“The fact is that these advertisers, with a few exceptions, have never been advertising on Premiere’s conservative shows,” the source said.

Media Matters, a Soros propagandist operation, is working overtime to create the false impression conservatives are being rejected by advertisers they don’t even have.

Yes, Old Coot Soros, America always dreamed of having their health care designed around liberalism’s perverts. Just like they always wanted their children’s education designed around liberalism’s sexual dysfunction. Cause that is all that really matters in life./s/
