Santorum Blasts Gingrich Over 'Romneycare'
Chris Welch Springfield, Missouri (CNN) It's a common aspect of Republican Rick Santorum's stump: attacking Mitt Romney for creating - and then "recommending" - "Romneycare" to President Barack Obama.
But Saturday, fresh off his projected win in the Kansas caucuses, Santorum added that GOP presidential rival Newt Gingrich is "honestly not a whole lot better."
"For 20 years when I was pushing medical savings accounts, he was pushing a federal mandate for health insurance," Santorum said. "And when 'Romneycare' passed, he sent out a glowing statement talking about how this wonderful bill had just passed in Massachusetts."
Santorum argues that Obama, Gingrich and Romney all line up on the same side when it comes to their support for an individual mandate.
The campaign points to a 2006 newsletter Gingrich wrote for his consulting firm, the Center for Health Transformation, in which he praised Romney's Massachusetts health care reform.
"The health bill that Governor Romney signed into law this month has tremendous potential to effect major change in the American health system," Gingrich wrote, according to the report.
Also in the newsletter, Gingrich expressed his support for the individual mandate in Massachusetts, but only for those making at least $54,000 a year. And while he commended Romney's effort in building the plan, he acknowledged the bill will likely face "tremendous scrutiny" from those who doubt the law will work.

Well we know why Gingrich is still in it. He’s making too much money off of personal donations heading into his own personal accounts. But whatever.

Oh, in case of that “great” Gingrich-Obama debate, we now know Obama’s stategy would be to use his teleprompter and speak as monotone with lengthy “uh’s” and boring as Leon Panetta to lull Newt to sleep (literally), like what happened at AIPAC.

He said that in one interview - one - years ago. Since then, he has said of that period in his life that he was hollow, and the more he achieved the more hollow he became. He once said of that period, on my bleakest days, I knew what I was doing was sin. he used the word sin to describe his actions. He has said that he was like an alcoholic without the liquor, and credited the AA 12step program and the Word of God as pulling him back from the brink. He has also said that he was headed for an emotional collapse or suicide. He has also taken full responsibility for all of his actions, and makes no excuses for them. And refused to talk bad about his ex-wife.
So just go on and keep posting your one time statement over and over and over again, and despoiling a man who has sought redemption, forgiveness, and who has no current behavior similar to his past sins.
I don't know if you are a Christian or not, but you are certainly a Santorum supporter.
This is how I took it: They [the McCain campaign] really are fighting against the base of the Republican party, the conservatives in the Republican Party, thats what they see this as. Because certainly thats what I represented in many respects, Santorum said. So I sort of said, Wow, this really is a battle for who we are going to be as a party.
Santorum also insists that his opposition to McCain cuts deeper than the issue of personal animus or an objection to the Arizona senators temper. Its unpredictability the lack of a woven or synthesized worldview. It is the compulsion to do what everyone in Washington, if youre Republican, knows will get you good press. And you know what that is: beat up on a Republican, take on a Republican, he said. This is a man who is not in principle a conservative.”
Biased are we?

With the shilling you’re doing for Newt, you should go back to the campaign and demand a pay increase.
You would think Newt would want Romney OUT OF THE RACE, and he can do that if he drops out.
Look what Romney has done to Newt, but yet Newt is helping him.
Here’s one of many examaples, of Romney’s lies:
“Romney insists on trying to destroy Newt Gingrich over the same false, trumped-up ethics charges just like Democrats did. Hes acting exactly like a power hungry Democrat who is willing to say anything to get elected ..”

Romney joins the Dems, with their trumped up charges, even though Newt was vindicated, but yet, Newt is unwittingly helping Romney. How ironic.
Mitt beat Rick, but Newt beat Barack, by Dr. Milton R.Wolf (BHO2’s cousin)

excerpt:
In a 30-minute video titled “$2.50 per Gallon Gasoline, Energy Independence and Jobs,” Mr. Gingrich unveiled his vision for renewed American prosperity centered around oil and natural-gas production. He demonstrated his unparalleled insight into the intersection of energy, security and prosperity. Mr. Gingrich rightly declared that never again should an American president bow before a Saudi king. Meanwhile, Mr. Obama, stung by his recent half-billion-dollar failed Solyndra boondoggle, began floating his latest green fantasy of harvesting algae to cure the pain at the pump.
Panicked by Mr. Gingrich, Mr. Obama was forced off his game and repeatedly tried to respond, only making matters worse for himself. He stayed true to the Democrats’ anti-energy agenda and mocked Republicans for wanting to drill for new oil. This made the president the butt of a joke for Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show”: Democrats claim that new drilling for oil won’t help us for at least 10 years, but haven’t they been saying that now for more than 10 years?

Keep supporting the empty-headed “kid”. He will not win the candidacy, and in the end will give all his delegates to Romney just so he can be VP. A failed lawyer and a failed Congressman, Santorum has no ethical core values and is a damned liar, to boot.
No, that's not my job. That's yours, you make a statement you back it up. Otherwise, there is no reason on earth to believe what you say. Back up your statements or don't make them. 75% of my posts I supply links, and the other 25% I have the links ready if I am questioned. It's called honest debate. Try it.
You are such a total jerk.
He said it last March.
"He has said that he was like an alcoholic without the liquor, and credited the AA 12step program and the Word of God as pulling him back from the brink."
I'm an AA member. I never blamed my drinking on my love of country.
A cursory look at your posts shows you've never supported Gingrich. You talk positively about Santorum all the time, and you sometimes mention Gingrich positively, but only in terms such as "either one of these guys better than obama".
Why are you ashamed to say out front who you support?
Roosevelt, according to Reagan, was a strong leader, one to emulate in certain respects. He had taken over the presidency during a time of unprecedented crisis and implemented a plan of action to bring the nation out of its doldrums. Reagan fondly recalled FDRs Fireside Chats, which were designed to give hope to the people. His strong, gentle, confident voice resonated across the nation with an eloquence that brought comfort and resilience to a nation caught up in a storm and reassured us that we could lick any problem. I will never forget him for that.
As governor of California later, Reagan had to deal with a Democratic legislature. It occurred to me that I had an opportunity to go over their heads. How? He used radio and television to communicate directly with the people of California, a tactic he traced back to FDRs Fireside Chats, which, he commented, made an indelible mark on me during the Depression.
As president, Reagan often mentioned his admiration for FDRs spirit of leadership. On a trip back to his alma mater, Eureka College, in 1984, he reminded his listeners what it was like to experience the Great Depression, and how the Fireside Chats had been so reassuring. All of us who lived through those years, he instructed them, remember the drabness the depression brought. But we remember, too, how people pulled together, that sense of community and shared values, that belief in American enterprise and democracy that saw us through.
It was that engrained American optimism, that sense of hope Franklin Roosevelt so brilliantly summoned and mobilized. In his view, FDR was instrumental in reviving an inherent American optimism that was endangered by the economic crisis.

‘...but Newt took Hillarycare off the table.’
.........................................................
“True, he did help with that, but then a couple years ago, he went around with her pushing the it would be more “efficient” if we let the Federales control our health records.”
Newt has some crazy ideas sometimes, especially when he agrees with liberals.
No. Romney shouldn’t be as strong as he is, period. Put any two or three conservatives in a Republican primary and any one of them should be trouncing Romney into Ron Paul obscurity. Why isn’t it happening? Because too many voters who should be voting conservative are voting “electable,” whatever the heck that means. Your argument re conservatives splitting the vote is utter nonsense. We’re losing the party to a unified crypto-liberal insurgency because our side is chasing phantoms, not because there are conservatives in the race.
BTW, a lot of us agree with Newt on social engineering from either side being wrong. Nothing sacrosanct about Ryan’s plan. Gingrich’s caution re that plan is one of the really good clues we have that Gingrich may be the only candidate in the race who really gets that whole freedom thingy.
I bet CNN is having a laughing fit knowing they are causing such division among Republicans here. Just sayin’.
Uh, Santorum endorsed romney while huckabee was still in the race...
As for taking one for the team, thats what Newt essentially said when he stated he would have reluctantly voted for TARP.
reluctantly - after Geitner and many others made the case to him and other republicans that a financial meltdown, global in proportions, would result without it.
FACTS, REALITY. Try 'em you like 'em. Or maybe not.
I would say that if I add up the “confirmed” delegates they still don’t supersede Romney.
I would say that it is taking both Newt and Rick to take Mitt to a level that he can’t obtain the goal easily.
I would say not all Newt voters , should he get out, would go to Rick...and vice versa.
And I would still ask..what put the burr under your saddle?
