I'm writing this from Australia, so, if I'm not quite up to speed on recent events in the United States, bear with me — the telegraph updates are a bit slow here in the bush. As I understand it, Sandra Fluke is a young coed who attends Georgetown Law, and recently testified before Congress.
Oh, wait, no. Update: It wasn't a Congressional hearing; the Democrats just got it up to look like one, like summer stock, with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid doing the show right here in the barn, and providing a cardboard set for the world premiere of Miss Fluke Goes To Washington, with full supporting cast led by Chuck Schumer strolling in through the French windows in tennis whites and drawling, "Anyone for bull****?"
Oh, and the "young coed" turns out to be 30, which is what less-evolved cultures refer to as early middle age. She's a couple of years younger than Mozart was at the time he croaked, but, if the Dems are to be believed, the plucky little Grade 24 schoolgirl has already made an even greater contribution to humanity. She's had the courage to stand up in public and demand that someone else (and this is where one is obliged to tiptoe cautiously, lest offense is given to gallant defenders of the good name of American maidenhood such as the many prestigious soon-to-be-former sponsors of this column who've booked Bill Maher for their corporate retreat with his amusing "Sarah Palin is a c***" routine ...
Where was I? Oh, yes. The brave middle-aged schoolgirl had the courage to stand up in public and demand that someone else pay for her sex life.
Well, as noted above, she's attending Georgetown, a nominally Catholic seat of learning, so how expensive can that be?

As 41 put it, Mzzzzz Fluke 'bats for the other team'. I read that myself maybe Thursday, i.e.: she doesn't (cough) 'like men'. In that piece it also said she needed 'the Pill' to regulate her menstrual cycle, nothing else. As such, the possibility of her getting pregnant from all her sex is about 0%. And so is the chance that it costs her $3K per year for The Pill when it's $4-$9 a month at Wal-Mart and other pharmacies.
Ergo, she wasn't speaking for herself in front of that Democrat dog and pony show set up by San Fran Nan that consisted solely of House democrats and which; a) wasn't a real hearing, b) she wasn't giving testimony c) she wasn't under oath, d) that $3000 dollar number was pulled from thin air, e) her whole speech was nothing but anecdotal hearsay and f) as hearsay it wouldn't be allowed in any court or real congressional hearing.
It is also now being reported (on The Blaze.com iirc) that Mzzzzz Fluke is being 'handled' by an Obama Toady --- whose on the White House Staff!
IMO this whole 'Flukeing thing' ;-) will blow up in the Rats faces. The MSM can't hide forever the facts that are slowly coming out from all conservative media outlets. And that this so-called controversy is just anther Obama-Axelrod political trick. Its purpose to change the actual subject of Barry's Mandate DICTATE from Freedom of Religion and the FREE exercise thereof to a: 'woman's health issue'.

WH -FLUCK CONNECTION Fluck is now being repped by the progressive PR agency SKDKnickerbocker which employs Anita Dunn, the former Obama communications director as managing editor....
BACKSTORY Fluck is a former head of "Georgetown University Law Students for Reproductive Justice." On February 9th, a group called "The Feminist Majority Foundation" arranged for Sandra to appear at press conference criticizing Catholic bishops for objecting to Catholic hater Obama's contraception mandate.
Later, Catholic-hater Congressman Elijah Cummings, the former Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, invited Sandra to testify at the House Oversight Committee. But she was turned down by chair Congressman Darrell Issa because she had no expertise in the church/state subject matter.
Nevertheless, Ms. Fluck and her vagina went to the hearing and afterward complained to ABC News that she had been denied. A week later, Nancy Pelosi staged the mock hearing starring Sandra, her vagina, and assorted Catholic-haters. After which Fluck and her itchy vagina were elevated to left-wing martyrdom.

I found out where to get The Pill when I was a dumb college kid, and getting ready to get married. I was told I needed to take it a month or two before my wedding to be sure it was working on me, etc. So I went to the infirmary on the campus and got The dang Pill. I PAID FOR IT. I didn’t have health insurance back then, I paid my own way through college and paid my own way. I didn’t have a sweet “Public Interest” Scholarship like Miss Fluke has.
And if she doesn’t have a fiance or at the very least a steady boyfriend, and she is having sex all the time with different partners, then What the Heck does she THINK she should be called? certainly Not a Virgin LOL

So, Fluke says it costs $3,000 for three years and yet the pharmacy only charges a little over $300 for those same 3 years. Either Fluke is a lousy comparison shopper or just a plain old-fashioned liar. Wonder which one!?
Her upwardly mobile appearing lifestyle could be the result of one of two (or more) things: she DID work for the 5+ years between Cornell and Georgetown; she was prepared for this by Dems on the committee who would have seen to it her appearance was professional looking.
I don’t know what comprised the financial aid package she apparently got from G’town. It could be that it was all covered by the University since I assume “public interest” means she indicated in her applications that her interest in law was ‘public interest,’ i.e., advocacy, rather than a private practice that theoretically can be lucrative. In that case, it would be the university she’d cheated. If she did that fraudulently, they could deny her the J.D., and bring charges.
Really, I have no clue what she meant by referring to herself and others as ‘public interest’ students at the law school and hope someone pursues that.

$9/mo for BC pills AND free condoms on every block... I could write pages on what’s wrong with this story, but I’m most interested in the politics behind the “$3000 a year to have safe sex” idea. Clearly you can have safe sex for free thanks to the DOH. And BC pills for $100 a year to boot. The people behind this political grandstanding need a comeuppance - this story is a symbol for waste and inefficiency in the health care system.
