WASHINGTON — President Obama, speaking publicly for the first time about Rush Limbaugh’s slur of a law student on his radio show last week, said on Tuesday that he had called the woman, Sandra Fluke, in part to set an example for his daughters.
“I thought about Malia and Sasha, and one of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on,” Mr. Obama said at a televised news conference at the White House. “I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way, and I don’t want them attacked or called horrible names because they’re being good citizens.”
Mr. Obama confirmed what had been known about the call only from Ms. Fluke’s account, which she has repeated since the Friday conversation to multiple reporters and television shows. He declined a reporter’s invitation to pass judgment on the sincerity of Mr. Limbaugh’s subsequent apology or on his loss of advertisers in the controversy.

Doesn’t want them “punished”.
when I hear a woman being called a slut I do not think of my daughter, and yet he does, mmmmmmmmmmmm, but I suppose this is not shock as he also wants them to not be burdened with a baby.
Has the MSM actually told the real facts in all this like her age, what her real motive is like getting self mutilation done on insurance, going to Georgetown to just overturn the policy of the school , being an activist, or even affording Georgetown but cannot between her and a guy afford a condom?

My 12 year old daughter, my 18 year old son, my 45 year old wife, my friends and parents are all expressing our deep distress about the public humiliation of a private citizen who chose speak out about an issue that was important to her. If we allow this to stand then we are complicit in the slow but sure deterioration in the civil discourse.
For all the leaders of this company...what would you think is an appropriate response if it was your daughter, mother or sister?... we expect that XXXXXXX will do the right thing, we are watching because the plan is to start a each one, tell one campaign all across this state and hope it travels to every corner of this great country that our men & women in uniform have given their lives for so basic rights are protected. As a customers & consumers, we know the power of our hard earned dollars and we refuse to support such disgraceful conduct against our women.
I guess he did a poor job of copying the suggested email from The Phony Outrage Department of Hypocrites, Inc.
As one of their reps who received this crap, I sent a terse reply asking if he was as outraged at Bill Maher's remarks regarding Sarah Palin and Laura Ingraham, as well as Ed Schutlz's remarks regarding the same women. And asked him what he had done with regard to those commentators engaging in "uncivil discourse."
Later in the day, the CEO of the company sent an email about how his company was not responsible for when their ads run but would make sure that they did not run during Rush's show.
To which I responded that as a small company he might not wish to have his actions become public knowledge as some advertisers who had pulled out of Rush's show were experiencing extremely negative results. 20 million loyal listeners of a radio show is a LOT of potential customers of his product to anger.
I have yet to hear back from him.
Dear Malia and Sasha,
Someday you will understand that your father selects adults as examples to illustrate behavior expectations.
As far as we can tell, the selection is based on political motives. There are many offended women, high profile known by millions of Americans; that your father did not seek to console. He did not even mention these women this past week as sharing the burden of public offense by media personalities.
Some day you will understand why.

Pure theatre for media/public consumption and to get some more mileage out of the Limbaugh comments, nothing less.
Reminds me of the times he had official WH photographers tag along as he greeted caskets coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan. To him, even dead heros are mere props to be used and disposed of.
