Brokaw: George H.W. 'Most Underrated Modern President Of Our Time'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 03/07/2012 5:22:52 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Tom Brokaw is the man that our Brent Bozell recently described as having "used NBC and [his] anchor chair as a platform to promote Democratic agendas and delight in Republican setbacks for more than 20 years." But every once in awhile, perhaps out of Greatest Generation nostalgia, Brokaw has something kind to say about a Republican.

As was the case on Morning Joe today, when, after reciting a list of the 41st president's accomplishments, said that George H.W. Bush was "the most underrated modern president of our time."

So Brokaw says the opposite of the ideas he advocated when Bush was president.

As always, liberals have denied themselves access to rational discussion. What was true yesterday is false today, because they have been fooled into believing the self-defeating ideology of relativism.

A round about way of saying Obama is the most over-rated POTUS ever.

Yea, o against his “No NEW TAXES” pledge was an act of pure courage in the eyes of liberals. Not that they would ever vote for him, but he “took a courageous stand” in stabbing the country in the back.

Oh this is good!

Brokaw is a flaming MORON, and George H.W. (and the Mrs.) have done an excellent job of showing us who they REALLY are since W. has left office.

Papa Bush may be a nice guy but he's worse than a liberal because you never know what kind of 'feel good' stance he's going to take on REAL (albeit conservative) issues.

You are right, and I hope Freepers don’t fall for this. Whenever the political times get hairy, the liberals always suddenly discover a new found love for loser Republicans.

You’ll see all kinds of liberal love this cycle for folks like Dole, McCain, Snowe, Collins, both Bushes. Why, these “nice” under rated Republicans will no doubt even come on the air and join the libs in decrying today’s Republicans. You watch. DONT FALL FOR THIS .

Brokaw thinks GHWB underrated because he is not properly credited with bringing us the presidency of Bill Clinton.

If it hadn’t been for the “little hand grenade with a bad haircut” (Perot), Clinton would never have been president.

I have an uncle who is the spitting image of Tom Brokaw (a fact which he openly laments)

When liberals praise former Republican presidents they are just trying to build cover and credibility for when they blast current Republicans. I see that with Reagan all the time. People who hated Reagan when he was president say things like, “what can’t so and so be more like Reagan was?”

HW Bush allowed himself to be Rickrolled by Democrats for 4 years, of course the left thinks of it fondly.

If Papa Bush hadn’t been such a globalist stooge, Perot probably wouldn’t have run.

Tom Who?

I’ve come to learn that newsreaders generally have the brains and general intelligence of squirrels. And then they start to believe their own spew. I’m in better company here at FreeRepublic

Yadda yadda yadda, I remember all of the lefties that praised Reagan when he died, and commented on how Reagan wouldn’t support today’s GOP. Meanwhile, when he was in the WH they were just as nasty to him as they were to any GOP President, before or since.
