According to a series of advertisers' Twitter and Facebook statements, at least 20 different sponsors have now pulled their spots from Rush Limbaugh's radio show.
In case you're new to the kerfuffle—welcome out of hibernation!—advertisers began dropping like flies after Limbaugh called a Georgetown law student and women's rights activist a "slut" and a "prostitute" for supporting healthcare coverage for contraception.
Sleep Number and The Sleep Train, both mattress suppliers, were the first two advertisers to pull their ads Friday, and the numbers have grown tenfold since then.
Media Matters has been regularly updating a list of advertisers that have been dropped (or aired) ads on Limbaugh's show.
On Tuesday, Bare Escentuals, Sensa Weight Loss program, Hadeed Carpet, Thompson Creek Windows, Vitacost, AccuQuote Life insurance, and Polycom all joined the Exodus.
Two local radio stations have also stopped running Limbaugh's show.
But some advertisers are finding it difficult to pull their ads, even if they disagree with Limbaugh's statements, because they bought package deals with the network. This means that their ads aren't specifically intended to air during Limbaugh's show.
Amberen, a menopause medication, explained the difficulty on its Facebook page:
"We understand that some of our customers are concerned that Amberen ads are still airing on the Rush Limbaugh show. Lunada Biomedical assures you that we take these concerns to heart! Most of our employees, including the CEO, are female. And like millions of other Americans we were outraged by Rush Limbaugh's incendiary and offensive comments. However, we are a small company that buys remnant (leftover) media time and, as such, we cannot, by definition, be considered the ‘sponsors’ of Mr. Limbaugh's show.”

Their loss.
Yowsa. I see only one viable solution to this. The government MUST treat Rush as fairly as they do their brain damaged leftist gerbalists and put him on NPR.
Who is encouraging them? Are they all Lefties who adv with Rush? Close contacts with Media Matters/et al Lefties who pushing the ‘larger’ agenda? What. On it’s face; it is insane. Beyond that. . .a ‘ground swell’ being invited/promoted.
EWTN is suing because the mandate entails costs they cannot afford. Why fries me is Obama can intervene in a matter between two private citizens and this not be counted as political, when everyone knows that Limbaugh is on his enemies list. And to repeated what Hannity did today, NO reporters brings up the matter of Bill Maher, who has become rich for defaming conservative women with utterly vile remarks, and is sharing that wealth with a superpac that is supporting OBAMA.
20 companies that just lost a market of 20,000,000 people.
Won’t buy a thing from any of them.
I’m with you. Media doesn’t matter, not their kind, anyway.
I have no problem calling them...and also call Clear Channel to voice your support..particularly women. :-)
No, he called her a slut for expecting others to pay for her contraception. (And she grossly inflated the cost of it.)
RE: get busy letting advertisers who have dropped the show know that you have dropped them.

These advertisers have been intimidated by a few hundred activists busy writing and e-mailing them with threats.
There are more of us than them but I am not sure if we are as motivated in this battle as they are.
Liberal sluts are easy. Why marry them?

This is getting ridiculous
ironically, two MATtRESS companies were the first to pul ltheir advertising over the flap over a slut? How ironic
They’re probably afraid that they will be forced to provide free mattresses if they don’t.
Yeah, to me this is a sign that the left is very organized and was ready to mobilize quick to campaign to those advertisers. Why does it not seem like our side is organized enough to respond in kind? It seems like the leftists are ready to march in lockstep when they get the order but trying to mobilize conservatives is like herding cats.
RE: This is getting ridiculous
What you call ridiculous, the liberal activists call SERIOUS.
This is a culture war and they’re in it to win. Are we?

Well, at least one advertiser is still there — THE NEWT GINGRICH CAMPAIGN.
They tend to go to what they used to call the Seven Sisters and so that helps their hubbies to network. No, I am being serious. We seem to be becoming two white nations, and unless you go to the right schools, your chance of social mobility is low.
My wife and I were considering a sleep number bed. Sunday night I called the company and told them that, and that it would be a cold day in Hell before I ever bought one.
I will be cancelling my subscription to Netflix immediately.
A lot of these are local ads, not national
