As concerned Georgians watch gas prices rise throughout the state, I recall a scene from the past and the farsighted words of a fellow Georgian. Long before prices at the pump hit $3.65 in Georgia and well over $4 in many states, it was Newt Gingrich who coined the phrase Drill here, Drill now, Pay less.
Time has proven that those who ignored his message as prices soared in 2008 did so at the peril of every American filling their tank to get to work or to get a child to the ball field. Speaker Gingrich understood the energy challenge we face. He understood that dependence on foreign supply undercuts Americas national security, that high energy prices pinch consumers and strangle our economy, that we have effectively hamstrung an American energy industry that would otherwise serve as a growing source of investment and jobs.
Having worked alongside Gingrich for years, I came to know him not only as an ideas guy, a visionary and a leader with a knack for understanding the big picture and how government policies affect the everyday lives of Americans.
That type of vision is rare, but frankly it often comes paired with a pie-in-the-sky idealism that renders the good ideas of little practical use. On this score Gingrich has again proved the exception to the rule. While speaker, he spearheaded generational welfare reform and worked across the aisle to have those transformative changes passed into law, even in the face of two vetoes from the desk of then-President Clinton. The welfare reform of 1996 symbolizes his rare ability and perseverance. Perhaps more to the point, it illustrates his ability to take an idea and transform it into reality.
Beyond that track record, Speaker Gingrich has a forward-looking plan for our nation that will restore our global competitiveness. His conservative ideals would foster the pro-growth environment this country needs to stimulate real, sustained job growth throughout the private sector. From regulatory reform to tax reform, he understands what is needed to unleash the entrepreneurial spirits that have propelled this nations economy since its inception.
Speaker Gingrich shares none of the Keynesian sentiment that posits economic growth depends upon federal bailouts and stimulus. Quite the opposite, his call for a balanced budget at the federal level the same thing Ive delivered two out of two times here at the state level will usher in a long overdue era of fiscal adulthood in Washington.
As Georgia conservatives, we owe Newt Gingrich who in 1994 led the Republican Party to victory for the first time in 40 years a debt of gratitude. Without this man giving voice to the practical conservatism the majority of Georgians now hold dear, the Republican Party in our state would not be where it is today.
Having witnessed his passion and work firsthand, I know that Newt Gingrich wins people over, not simply because his ideas are smart, but because his ideas pass the common sense test. His vision for this country rings true. He understands the challenges Georgians face. He understands how policy affects everyday life. He understands what this country needs to fire up the jobs engine again. And I believe his deep and unshakable faith in the greatness of America provides just the right fuel to power those reforms and to draw in others so that, together, we can create the bright future for our nation we all desire.
On Super Tuesday, Georgia is the biggest state to hold a primary, and as such, our 76 delegates are the days biggest prize. I encourage you to join me in casting your vote for one of our own, Newt Gingrich, and give our favorite son a resounding victory.
"Following on the heels of a weekend AJC poll, Public Policy Polling of North Carolina is out with yet another survey that shows GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich creeping toward the 50 percent mark in Georgia.
The PPP bottom line:
Gingrich, 47 percent;
Mitt Romney, 24 percent;
Rick Santorum, 19 percent;
Ron Paul, 8 percent;
The 50 percent mark is a significant one. As far as 34 statewide delegates go, distribution would still be proportional. But even if Gingrich finishes in the mid-40 percentile on Tuesday, that means hed probably clear 50 percent in some congressional districts. And thats where the winner-takes-all rule, with 42 delegates at stake, does apply."...... More

"ATLANTA It wasn't so long ago that the Republican Party in Georgia was just an afterthought, and Democrats were in firm control of all the levers of state government. Back then, Newt Gingrich and other die-hard GOP stalwarts ventured across the state with the far-fetched message that Republicans could reverse the tide.
Now with commanding majorities in the Statehouse and control of all statewide offices, Gingrich is hoping his vision for how the GOP could overcome decades of Democratic dominance in Georgia will pay dividends. He sorely needs a victory when his home state votes Tuesday, along with a big chunk of its 76 delegates, to prove his stumbling presidential bid has staying power.
Many Republican figures in Georgia still credit him with championing conservative policies, outlining a framework for what a GOP majority in the state could accomplish and broadcasting talking points to a generation of up-and-coming conservative leaders. He's also applauded for lobbying conservative Democrats, like then-Rep. Nathan Deal, to switch parties.
"Everyone else was trying to lose as slowly as possible, and to die with dignity at the Alamo. He was talking confidently that the Republican majority in Georgia, in the South and nationally was right around the corner," said Ralph Reed, a veteran Georgia GOP operative who founded the national Faith and Freedom Coalition. "On the one hand it was crazy, but on the other it was just the most exciting thing you've ever heard.".....................In Ga., Gingrich helped build conservative base
Bumpity BUMP!
I stand with Newt!
My vote goes to Newt tomorrow, along with two of my sons, and wives. We, as well as others have been pushing Newt for some time around here. I hope it pays off, because Ohio is a rallying cry for him!
because Ohio is a rallying cry for him!
What are you talking about? Newt will finish fourth in Ohio. It is either Romney or Santorum for Ohio and that is it. Pick your poison. You can vote for Newt in one state and that is Georgia and that is it. Anything else is a vote for Romney.
There is no such thing as U.S. oil, unless you want to nationalize it. The slogan has to be “Drill Here, Drill Now, Outbid the Rest of the World on the Open Market”.
NEWT HERE NEWT NOW PAY LESS!!
It’s ALL about the oil, stupid.
Security is about the oil.
Jobs are about the oil.
The economy is about the oil.
The deficit is about the oil.
Freedom is about the oil.
Even the social issues are about the oil, because if we don’t have the oil, we don’t have the time, the money , the freedom to go talk about our social issues.
NEWT HERE NEWT NOW PAY LESS.
So do I, in fact I already voted for him here in Florida, so there is nothing more I can do. Thanks to Barock I am BROKE so I can't send him any money.
I am also a realist I live in REALVILLE. Unless NOOT pulls another one from the hat tomorrow, he is toast.
I will vote for Mittens if he is our nominee. We simply can't take another 4 with ZERO at the helm. . . .
Somewhere on the Internet - someone posted that Gingrich was a progressive...my searching has not really found anything to support this...beyond unconfirmed and unverified websites...
IS this true?
Or is it an attempt to slant a very viable candidate that would turn the US back into a traditional and patriotic nation again?
What say you?
Good.
GO NEWT GO......
** President Newt Gingrich-”Our beloved republic deserves nothing less.”
There is a lot of stuff on the Internet. Newt is NOT a progressive. He's pushed the conservative movement.
At this time, Rick is the only conservative who can beat Willard the Lib.
So Earth to Newtonians in Ohio: What are you doing besides handing the nomination to Willard on a silver platter, my friends?

Ohio Republican Presidential Primary PPP (D) Romney 37, Santorum 36, Gingrich 15
-In Ohio late deciding voters are breaking toward Romney. He leads Santorum 40-28 with those who have made up their minds in the last few days or the last week. He’s also going into election day with the lead. He’s up 41-34 on Santorum with those who have already voted- that cushion from early voters helped put him over the top in Michigan last week.

Right along with AGW.
Newt is for rolling back regulations, the EPA and exploiting U.S. energy resources to become energy independent.
2 + 2 = 4
NEWT = $2.50 a gallon GAS
Golly if the Rick would drop out in GA Newt would be over 50% and get all the delegates freezing Mitt out. Oops sorry I forgot that only works when Rick might benefit. I haven’t heard any calls for Santorum to stand down in GA. In fact I read somewhere that he was going full bore after the GA vote.
