(CBS News) Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul said an apology by conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh to Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke for calling her a "slut" and a "prostitute" was not sincere, and was made only because it best served Limbaugh.
On CBS News' "Face the Nation," the Texas congressman told host Bob Schieffer that Limbaugh's apology "was in his best interest."
"He's doing it because some people were taking their advertisements off of his program. It was his bottom line he was concerned about," Paul said.
Isn’t it time for Ron Paul to just go away?
Now there is an ironic criticism coming from a politician.
Sort of like when Ron Paul did an about-face on the newsletters he published after he decided to run as a Republican?
“Never apologize. Your friends won’t need it and your enemies won’t believe it.”
The need to apologize has to originate somewhere. Guess whenever Rob Paul issues an apology we’ll know it isn’t honest or sincere. Projection on display.
Why would Paul even comment on such a thing? It doesn’t serve his interest to say a word.
But, he is probaby right.
I think Ron Paul -- like John McCain -- is very happy to attack any Conservative, at any time. He's much more comfortable with people like Romney.
I don’t agree with Rush Limbaugh’s apology. My disagreement stems from the fact that he made an apology at all. He should have stood his ground and stuck by the original words that he uttered. To “roll over” and try to satisfy these leftists is totally unacceptable. Were she not a slut, she would not have made the ridiculous statements that she made in public.
It is possible for an action to be self serving and genuine at the same time.
Only those who are always doing the former and never the latter don’t understand that fact.
So, if he (Paul) thinks Limbaugh apologized for "personal gain," Paul really means that is the only reason he, himself would do so.
Just like Limbaugh has said so many times in the past, "listen to what Democrats say about conservatives and you will find out what they really would do!."
Ron Paul is a kook, but I mean, come on, he is right about this.
Rush only apologized because he was losing sponsors. Everyone in the world knows it. It would be nice if Paul were more a team player and could just keep his mouth shut, but in the end what he is saying is entirely correct.
‘Cause he was asked. I just happened to see Face the Nation and Paul was on after Gingrich. And, I’m sure Limbaugh would want his apology to be looked at like that, as a forced business decision.
I don’t think Rush should have apologized, but he may have in order to avoid a slander lawsuit by Fluke.
Paul isn’t an ally of the right. Why don’t people understand?
Self-preservation is the first law of nature. so I've been told.
when it comes to nutty, Ron eclipses squirrel poop found under a Texas pecan tree..
I hope they weren’t.
