STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Staten Island's female elected officials from both sides of the aisle are demanding that conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh "apologize to all women" for calling a Georgetown University Law student a "slut" on his program.
Limbaugh caused a national firestorm when he used the word after Sandra Fluke testified before Congress about the need for contraceptive coverage.
"What does it say about the college coed ... who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex?" Limbaugh said on Wednesday. "It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex."
He went on to suggest that Ms. Fluke distribute sex tapes of herself.
"If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it," he said. "We want you post the videos online so we can all watch."
The remarks brought swift, bi-partisan condemnation in Washington, with President Barack Obama, who called Ms. Fluke personally, and GOP House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), slamming Limbaugh.
The Island's elected women -- state Sen. Diane Savino (D-North Shore/Brooklyn), Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-East Shore/Brooklyn) and City Councilwoman Debi Rose (D-North Shore) -- called Limbaugh's remarks "disgusting" and said they were made all the worse because March is Women's History Month.
"It does not matter if your hero is Eleanor Roosevelt or Margaret Thatcher," said Ms. Savino, "this is about treating women with dignity and respect. If Mr. Limbaugh cannot find it in his conscience to apologize, his fans and advertisers should demand that he does."

Myself, I found it a bit ungentlemanly to call a woman a slut because she has sex for enjoyment, not merely for procreation. In fact, where I come from, it is considered ungentlemanly to call any woman a slut.
The Staten Island “Mob Wives” probably found it objectionable too.
But, maybe not-—they talk worse than that to one another, actually.
Rush doesn’t need to apologize to me.

I sure hope you are right. I lost sleep over the way this is going last night, with advertisers pulling their adds from his program. The other day a friend on Facebook posted the Huffington Post article about Rush's comments. I spent all day debating one of her friends on the issue, not his "slut" comment. His last comment made it obvious he had no idea about what money was, where wealth came from and was very willing to become a slave of the state, so I just posted a bunch of great Jefferson and De Tocqueville quotes and told him I was done. The next morning, my friend, who had mentioned Jefferson in one of her comments in which she said she was not equating Rush to Hitler, cough cough, had pulled the entire conversation. She's a History professor at a midwest university, by the way.
The issue is that the student insurance offered by Georgetown did not include birth control coverage because as a Catholic institution it would violate their religious doctrine.I would assume the policy that does not include birth control coverage is cheaper than one that does. Student health insurance policies that include birth control coverage are readily available with all private health insurers.So she could easily have obtained a policy that included birth control coverage and paid the extra premium with any number of student health insurance carriers. Instead she insisted that students attending school to get an education rather than sleeping around should be forced to pay the extra premium to have coverage for something they have no intention of ever using. I guess freedom of choice to her means the type of extracurricular activity she will engage in that evening rather than individuals having the right to choose coverage needs.

Am embarassed to be from SI. I guarantee that all 3 of these bimbo “lawmakers” never actually listened to Rush for even one minute in their entire lives. Fluke (pronounced “Fluck” by some) is a slut. According to Rush, Obama called her and told her that her “mother must be proud”...I’m sure she’s busting her buttons with pride. After all doesnt every mother want their daughters to grow up to announce to the world that she has so much sex that she cant afford contraception...Heck, if worse comes to worse she could always get a free abortion from Planned Parenthood. Wouldn’t that make her mother even MORE proud and send the liberals over the moon, giddy with delight!

Hello? If this was a man “testifying” about his need for financial support so he could buy condoms, or get a vasectomy, etc, I’d be all over his $$#@ too. Personally, I think anyone who screws outside marriage is, in truth, a “slut”. I.e., just a nasty name for “immoral libertine”.
Isn't a slut allowed to make history?
