And in the same week Obama vows buy one, Christmas comes early this year.
(DFP) General Motors has told 1,300 employees at its Detroit Hamtramck that they will be temporarily laid off for five weeks as the company halts production of the Chevrolet Volt and its European counterpart, the Opel Ampera.

Has anyone ever seen a real live Chevy Volt...real live means you seen it some place besides a auto show, auto dealership, without a Government (Federal, State, Local) plate and/or not a company (GE) car....you know like it looks like someone, an individual bought and paid for it, (even though its net purchase price was less because of government subsidies).
I never have!

Guy next door owns a Toyota Prius, and you have to hand it to Toyota, they made that car work at a profit.
I’ve seen some Nissan Leafs (Leaves?) as well.
Never a Volt in person.
I’d pay money to see this add from a local Toyota dealer:
“Only a dolt would own a Volt, but if you need a Prius, then COME SEE US!”

What convenient timing! Der Fuehrer makes a blowhard speech about how he has single-handedly brought back the auto industry by way of the Volt (not mentioning he gave them our money) and now after the speech his toadies at GM hand out the solyndra-solution to GM Volt employees. Wonder how many of the soon to be “temporarily” laid off GM employees were at his speech heiling der Fuehrer.

Just went to the automotive news web site. 6,300 Volts in inventory. Sales in Jan were 603.
GM mismanagement strikes again.

If a Volt crashed into an Amp you’d get Energy since the crash can only last for a finite time.

If its a money problem, I will chip in a little.
Besides, I don’t think Toyota lies about the m/p/m wind power benefits as does the Obama Toady Subsidiaries, General Motors and General Electric.

You gotta add a requirement that you don’t have to do the monetary equivalent of the replacement of the engine and the transmission every ten years or so.
