Houston - Gasoline for $5 a gallon? The possibility is hardly far-fetched. With no clear end to tensions with Iran and Syria and rising demand from countries like China, gas prices are already at record highs for the winter months averaging $4.32 in California and $3.73 a gallon nationally on Wednesday, according to AAAs Daily Fuel Gauge Report. As summer approaches, demand for gasoline rises, typically pushing prices up around 20 cents a gallon. And gas prices could rise another 50 cents a gallon or more, analysts say, if the diplomatic and economic standoff over Irans nuclear ambitions escalates

I do believe that it WILL reach $10 if we have a war in the middle east, and $7 even if we don’t. $5.00 will be chump change, just wait and see.
“Later this year, we will be wishing for $5.00 per gallon gas.”
+1. Sad to say, but entirely true. The pieces are all in position, and 90% of the populace is completely ignorant of how truly dire the situation is. The sharks have smelled blood in the water and been circling some time, the frenzy won’t be abated much longer.
We’re about to be up a crick without a paddle.
That’s OK! Michelle will still get her vacations and Obama will still jet all over the country and hold grand weekly parties at the White House.
But hey, they will throw out a few photos and fancy menus for the peasants to dream about.
But don’t you DARE eat any salt, feed your kid a turkey sammich. Oh, and ride your dang bike or take a bus.
Tighten up that belt and skip that family vacation!
Go Newt Go! American Exceptionalism and Might are on the way starting in January 2013. Good times for our country and perilous times for our enemies are ahead.

Thanks for typing that, I needed it. Sometimes it is hard to stay positive.
People have grown apathetic. How sad it is to see that, but I know it’s not forever. People, wake up.
$5 gasoline in oil-rich Texas. That’s un-American. Drill, baby, drill.
I am wondering how long before people panic and become REALLY agitated. I think it is soon.
For myself, I’ve never had a time in life where I was not able to visualize a bit of distant future for myself and my family.
Now I am spending time thinking short term future and what-ifs. I don’t want to panic but I also don’t want to be caught with my pants down.
Just a few years ago I could see the mister and I playing with future grandkids here at the house, our children having a better future than us.
Now I worry if our kids will ever be able to purchase a home, what will the future hold for them?
If we have a year or two of sky-high gas, I don’t even know how well the mister and I will maintain.
We wouldn’t even be able to be a life-preserver for the kids. Things really look bleak now, when I look at the long term future.
I suppose I will start being much more frugal, plan for the worst and pray for the best. I am growing tired of my new what-if obsession.
Something has to give somewhere, it can’t and won’t continue as is.
Absolutely. Whether one believes it to be a herd mentaility, or the inspiration from God (I believe the latter), something is getting people spooked. I think we need to be prepared, but I felt that way, years and years ago. I’m worried for the innocent children, more than anyone else, who are the children of the mindless zombie parents. I shudder to think of what their lives will be like in a true SHTF scenario. I don’t think this will just be a “crisis” because America’s enemies will “go for broke.” I strongly believe (as George Washington foretold), that we WILL be invaded by a coalition of many nations from all of the continents combined.
We have riches beyond measure, while we’re simultaneously being told to sit, shivering, in cold dark huts and government projects. People no longer recognize freedom. I have never, in my life, lived under freedom. Just an ever increasing opression. Things will get better, but they’ll get much, much worse first.
I agree with you, completely. I have been having those same feelings, myself. I have no idea what the next year will be like, let alone the next 5, 10, or 50. I think there’s one thing that should give you solace. If gas maintains a $5 dollar per gallon price for long, we’ll either get a lot better, or a lot worse. If we get a lot worse, then everything would come down. In that case, you won’t be worrying about the bills. There’d likely be none. If we get to the point of fighting for survival all of our old worries will go away for a completely new set, and ways we cannot fathom now.
I don’t mean to be bleak. I think it’s good to prepare and do what you can to get your own house prepared, and in order. Including a year’s supply of goods. These are not hard to acquire, if done in segments, and not overwhelming. A year’s worth of undergarments, here. A few buckets of wheat (etc.) there, and on and on. Remember, we’re not supposed to get preoccupied with tomorrow’s problems, but live in such a way that’s we’re generally prepared and self reliant.
Matther 6:34:
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
AND
John 16:33:
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
On an aside, if anyone has any “Prepper” questions, kartographer is the keeper of the “Prepper Ping List” and each thread has the keywords “Prepperping” added to them. And feel free to PM if anyone has specific questions. About food storage, etc. I can at least try and point you in the right direction (but can probably answer most outright).
PAID 4.690 AT SELF SERVICE IN SANTA MONICA TONIGHT
Gas prices have jumped 35 cents in the last 10 days in my area. $5/gallon by summer’s peak would not surprise me. I fear it, but I would not be surprised.
As Gasoline approaches historic levels here, Colbert, Stuart, et al now suddenly understand specific parts of free market capitalism and continually engage in reductio absurdum to falsely imply Obama is NOT the cause.
Even his own mouthpieces in his administration admit he won’t even try to do something to alleviate the problem,
In a close-to-home example, the Gulf, he waited weeks to do anything with regard to the oil spill there,
Then refused ANY foreign cleanup help,
Illegally FORCED BP to pay $10 Billion in damages even before any fault was proven
Then banned all drilling there - these rigs then relocated to other parts of the world, likely not to return soon
FINALLY, he and his family trotted down to a gulf beach for a token 2 days and mouthed a few bragging words.
This is just one incident. Compare that to willfully NOT supporting (sympathetically or otherwise) the Iranian uprisings, the WILLFULL interference in Egypt to bring down Mubarek, In Libya, in Syria and who knows where else - all to install MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD to power on the world economy.
Add to that his machinations to destroy meaningful energy production here (coal, nuclear, oil, gas) by making their costs rise through impossible regulation; interference in the auto industry with gas standards, hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles; preventing the construction of new refineries; and subsidizing hopelessly uneconomical solar, wind and other ‘green’ false technologies.
No, he isn’t responsible for the price of gas - not one friggin’ bit, is he?
After watching Bill Still’s The Money Masters and the Secret of Oz, it became clear to me the root causes of our present dilemma. The Federal Reserve and it members, are profiting wildly( at least on paper) with every Chinese tool we purchase and gallon of foreign oil we consume. Why has our trade deficit grown so enormously, because the fed makes a percentage for every FRN issued. And it profits go to it’s members.
War on terror, war on drugs, war on poverty, warvon carbon emissions, wars, wars, wars, flood the world with FRN. The Fed owns our political system. Try to stop them, and end up dead. Ask any number of assassinated presidents.
I wonder just exactly how much longer We the People will allow the DC and NY elite to have their way.....
Gingrich leading a “charge of real conservatives”?!!!
Unless he’s literally able to lead a couple of million We the People along with him....that’s a dim prospect. That threat is precisely why Palin’s campaign was iced.
If 10 dollar gas guarantees that communist thug loses on November - bring it on.
Nope. It's Bush's fault. Bush screwed thing up SO BAD, that it will take decades of Obama's rule to fix things.
“As Gasoline approaches historic levels here, Colbert, Stuart, et al now suddenly understand specific parts of free market capitalism and continually engage in reductio absurdum to falsely imply Obama is NOT the cause.”
The Masters of the Lie trying to run interference in what they know will be an election disaster for Obama; too many of the 99% buy gas & groceries (including “Holder’s people”), and they’ve had enough of our affirmative-action token president.
