A large part of the power of conservative movement support for Rick Santorum's campaign for President is that individual Tea Party and grassroots conservatives aren't waiting around for someone to tell them what to do; they are showing individual leadership by mounting-up and heading toward the sound of the guns to help Santorum in Michigan.
The lead in the Michigan polls has seesawed back and forth between the conservative Santorum and the establishment favorite -- moderate former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Romney's campaign team has always claimed to be confident that their superior fundraising would give them the firepower to defeat the insurgent Santorum campaign in the state where Romney's father was once Governor, even though the polls still show Romney behind within the margin of error.
Part of the reason that Santorum is still in the fight, despite the difference in resources, is undoubtedly because his campaign learned a thing or two since the Romney Death Star hovered over Florida and vaporized Newt Gingrich in $20 million of negative advertising. First and foremost among the lessons from Florida is that waiting around to gather the resources to compete with a Romney negative attack is a losing proposition. Santorum correctly got out in front of Romney with his now-famous "mud gun" ad reminding voters of Romney's propensity to go negative.
However, no one should underestimate the power of individual conservatives showing personal leadership and doing what conservatives always do when a job needs to be done -- mounting up and doing it.
Grassroots movement conservatives and Tea Partiers have added a lot of weight to the Santorum effort in Michigan simply by loading-up their email to tell their friends who can vote in Michigan why they support Rick Santorum and why it is vitally important to vote for Rick in that state's Republican Primary on February 28.
This viral support for Santorum does a lot to explain why Rick continues to do well in areas where he has never campaigned and has spent little or no money on advertising.
You, too, can be a conservative leader. If you have friends or contacts in Michigan it is not too late to let them know how important it is to vote in the Tuesday, February 28, Republican presidential primary. An easy way to get the message out is to share with them the CHQ article on why Tea Party and movement conservative leaders have endorsed Rick Santorum for President at http://www.conservativehq.com/article/6358-conservative-leaders-endorse-rick-santorum-president.

I just noticed there’s a ROEMER on the Arizona ballot. Maybe all the Mormon Romneybots will vote for he wrong guy.
Okay... wishful thinking but you know there will be a few who do make the mistake. Besides.. Roemer’s first name is buddy? Who doesn’t want a buddy?
“I’d be curious to see Hannity’s reaction as well.”
Same as always. Swing with the new wind direction and act as if he were always there.
“Hannity is hard to read. He is a devout Catholic and a personal friend of Newts. But I woulda thought hed be for Santorum personally.”
He has subtly pulled for Bishop Willard since 2008. He once described Bishop Willard as a devout Christian, which tells me his Catholicism is as informed as Pelosi’s.
Dear AC,
Newt is not campaigning in MI, but is fighting for the South. The South is not a safe house for union sympathizers, enablers and panderers. Rick has a legislative record that has been sitting there untouched, just waiting to be exposed for being full of his union pandering legislation.
How long did you expect Newt to sit on that fact?
Newt can not schedule his differences with Rick around Rick’s campaign schedule. Newt giving Rick romping room is officially over.
Maybe you aren’t familiar with Rick’s record, otherwise you would know this was coming. Republicans aren’t generally a brotherhood with the union in the South. It makes sense Newt would shine the light on his differences with Rick in the region where Newt is able to run and run hard.
Thank you, 144. I remember Father Netenhauer(?) said on Sean’s show that he would have to deny Sean communion based on some cafeteria Catholic point or another that Sean had made repeatedly, but now I can not remember what it was, but I had thought the same thing of Sean’s nominal, (VERY nominal) Catholicism.
At best, Sean has been likely been very poorly Catachized and at worst, well, I should not say, but saying of one’s self that they are “devout” is a sure sign they may not be, nor because they imply such a thing does not make it true. Look at Pelosi. An abomination.
I am sure Hannity is sincere in his Catholicism, but it is very shaky in its doctrinal and intellectual foundations. He is just not very deep or even very well informed. He seems to be more of a people person than an idea person. His statement was something along the lines of “Romney is as much of a Christian as I am.” I sincerely hope that statement is factually wrong, and that Hannity’s own faith is real even if his knowledge of Mormonism is dangerously scant.
(Please note: I am not a Catholic (although I agree with most Catholic premises and doctrines), but it appalls me when public figures grossly misstate what Catholicism does or does not hold true, apparently based on being born into a Catholic family and attending Mass at haphazard intervals.)
Okay, devout..maybe not so much.
I’m just so disappointed with Sean now. He was a voice for the principles of Conservatism at one time..but since Faux has gone left, he seems much more concerned about making Roger and Murdoch happy, ie keeping his job...than being a champion of for the right.
“Looks like we can’t expect Newt to help Rick in Michigan, he was attacking Rick in his speech in Tennessee today.”
Looks like Saint Ricks Supporters want Newt to just concede the South as well.
You actually think Santorum can beat Obammy. ROFL.
With Santorum as the Nominee get ready to welcome four more years of obammy.
“He has subtly pulled for Bishop Willard since 2008”
Would love to hear the conversations between Sean and Levin who is supporting Santorum..
Mark’s not one to mince words...probably givin’ his best friend a smackdown.
I appreciate your incisive remarks. BTW, it was Father Eutenhauer who when pressed by Sean finally and forthrightly said he would have to deny Sean communion. Sean didn’t like it one bit. Naturally.
It was like a zot. LOL! You knew it should be coming, and finally Eutenhauer came up with it. :)
With the correct name, you could google the exchange if you should be so disposed. thanks.
In my opinion, based on his TV show, Hannity has been subtly pulling for Newt. This is also what the Romneybots think when I’ve spied on their chat room.
Mary, I didn’t want to say.
Sean is a player for FAUX, and an intolerable noise maker. Have not watched HANNITY, even if Newt is on! Dig that! (That’s pretty bad. LOL!)
He is no intellect and injects his foolishness constantly into the guests commentary, talking over his guests every bit as bad as O’Reilly, delivering platitudes and “I”, “I”,
“I”, until I want to smack his sanctomonious self.
I am left with GRETA once in awhile for a check in, and when I know she is having someone special on. Love her space for Rush, and her consistently heavy weight guests. Guys and gals who are doing the lifting, for good or ill.
Thanks, Mary.

Newt should realize that getting Mitt out of the race helps Newt, too.
