Thank you, 144. I remember Father Netenhauer(?) said on Sean’s show that he would have to deny Sean communion based on some cafeteria Catholic point or another that Sean had made repeatedly, but now I can not remember what it was, but I had thought the same thing of Sean’s nominal, (VERY nominal) Catholicism.
At best, Sean has been likely been very poorly Catachized and at worst, well, I should not say, but saying of one’s self that they are “devout” is a sure sign they may not be, nor because they imply such a thing does not make it true. Look at Pelosi. An abomination.
I am sure Hannity is sincere in his Catholicism, but it is very shaky in its doctrinal and intellectual foundations. He is just not very deep or even very well informed. He seems to be more of a people person than an idea person. His statement was something along the lines of “Romney is as much of a Christian as I am.” I sincerely hope that statement is factually wrong, and that Hannity’s own faith is real even if his knowledge of Mormonism is dangerously scant.
(Please note: I am not a Catholic (although I agree with most Catholic premises and doctrines), but it appalls me when public figures grossly misstate what Catholicism does or does not hold true, apparently based on being born into a Catholic family and attending Mass at haphazard intervals.)
Okay, devout..maybe not so much.
I’m just so disappointed with Sean now. He was a voice for the principles of Conservatism at one time..but since Faux has gone left, he seems much more concerned about making Roger and Murdoch happy, ie keeping his job...than being a champion of for the right.
