A Defense Department official visited a Virginia mosque Friday to reiterate the White House's apologies for the burning of Korans at a US military base in Afghanistan, pledging that those responsible will be held "appropriately accountable."
Peter Lavoy, acting assistant secretary of defense for Asian and Pacific security affairs, attended services at the ADAMS Center in Sterling, Va., and told the congregation he was there to express his "sincere regret" on behalf of the Department of Defense for the incident.
On Monday, coalition forces at Bagram Air Field brought a truckload of Islamic holy books from a detention facility to an incinerator after the detainees allegedly used the texts to pass secrets and what were described as "extremist" messages to one another.
Afghans stepped in to rescue the books, though some were already burned. The incident, viewed as an affront to Muslims, sparked widespread protests, resulting in the deaths of 24 people in four days of violence. Two US troops were shot and killed by an Afghan soldier at a base in Nangarhar Province Thursday.
Lavoy said Friday that the holy books were burned "unknowingly and improperly" and that the military "neglected, out of ignorance, long-established, correct procedures for handling religious materials."
"I know that apologies are never enough and do not erase this incident," he said, adding, "We will hold people appropriately accountable."
He also noted that US commander Gen. John Allen apologized to Afghan President Hamid Karzai and to the Afghan government and people, that Defense Secretary Leon Panetta apologized and pledged to personally review results of an investigation into the incident and that President Barack Obama wrote a letter of apology to Karzai that US Ambassador Ryan Crocker delivered by hand.
The string of apologies from the Obama administration has come under harsh criticism by Republicans. Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich called the president's apology "an outrage" and a "destructive double standard," while Sarah Palin tweeted that the "US trained & protected Afghan Army can apologize for killing our soldiers yesterday."

I think Obama is trying to give the Afghans an excuse to stop being our ally in the War on Terror. When Obama began his illegal term of office we had lots of countries who were our allies in the War on Terror, which have since (with Obama’s encouragement) been taken over by Muslim Brotherhood, the Salafis, and/or Al Qaeda so they will NOT be our allies against terrorism but are instead moving towards the worldwide caliphate. Egypt, Libya, Iraq, Kenya, working on Syria... This is Obama carrying out his promise to the Egyptian ambassador in January 2010 - that he was and still is a Muslim who supports the Muslim agenda but that the Muslim world needed to be patient while he got Obamacare passed and then he would focus on implementing the Muslim agenda.
Part of the Muslim agenda is that when a country reaches nearly 100% Muslim population they are supposed to exterminate Christians. Rumsfeld had basically told Karzai back in 2001 that they would either become our allies or would become a glass parking lot. So Afghanistan had become our “ally” and had done the voting thing and the Constitution. They tried carrying out their whole philosophy of sharia being above even the Constitution when they tried to execute a Muslim who converted to Christianity but Americans caught wind of it and protested - even Condi Rice protested. So they backed off of that and pretended to the western world to have some semblance of religious freedom while saying to their own people that the Christian wouldn’t be executed because he was obviously insane, to convert from Islam.
But now with Obama and the Muslim agenda, Afghanistan needs an excuse to abandon everything that Rumsfeld and Bush had made them go along with, so they can comply with what sharia demands, and give up on this whole western thing of anti-terrorism and religious liberty.
I think Obama sent 30,000 of our troops over there knowing it is a hopeless boondoggle that’s historically never been won - and actually even admitting that the goal has never been to actually WIN - because he wants to destroy the US soldiers who are loyal to the Constitution and are brave enough to fight - so they would be gone by the time the domestic communist coup would be implemented by the military under his command, as they would have to reestablish control after rioting and/or other crisis that would initiate the revolution. He wouldn’t want anybody left in the military to actually be loyal to the Constitution when that happens, because they might turn on him and his agenda. So he’s been bleeding out our money and our finest soldiers as long as he can in Afghanistan but ultimately has to find a way for Afghanistan to give up on the charade of being our ally against Islamic terrorism so they can instead be part of the Islamic caliphate that Obama was hired by his owners (the Soros communist-Islamist alliance) to help usher in.
This sounds outrageous until you actually look at what Obama has done to the US military, compared to what he has done for Islamist thugs all over the globe, as well as what he is doing to the US economy, Constitution, and rule of law. When you combine that with a profile of the people he has in his administration and the written plans by both the communists and Islamists and how they match almost exactly everything Obama has done in the past and since taking over the White House, it’s way too much to be mere coincidence.
And those words to the Egyptian ambassador say it all, in his own words. The “Muslim agenda” that all sects of Islam agree on is the destruction of the US and Israel and the institution of worldwide sharia.
I feel a little bit like a broken record because I’ve been talking about this a lot lately, but I think it is really, really important that people connect the dots and realize just how serious it is for us to have an illegal enemy combatant in our White House. Dangerous, dangerous times.

That particular mosque is ESTABLISHED as a front for the Muslim Brothethood and Hezbollah, by infiltrators! Ladies and gentlemen we have national security risks at the highest levels of US government, including the Pentagon.
