The filmmakers Q & A following the screening was also very telling. Their primary motivation for making this apolitical movie about the life of Navy Seals was primarily to pay honor and tribute to the sacrifice these extraordinary individuals make in order for all the rest of us to walk around free.
The liberals in attendance gave the film the same standing ovation I did, because they were drawn into an intense story line that did not choose partisan sides.
Thats not to say that liberals who havent seen the film arent making a partisan issue of it.

Thank you, He has been in Spanish Emersion since preschool but I will get him to branch out into the others this summer.
My husband and I are fighting over who gets to go with my son to see it.
I am gonna win that one.
:)
Uh, they started filming in 2007. I suppose they already had advance knowledge that obie would need a kick start for the ‘11 elections huh?
Will they making a movie about truck drivers, cooks, chopper mechanics, etc. You know the support people that make the jobs of the special forces possible. Can’t wait for the Obama administration-sanctioned movie about
the death of Bin laden to come out right before the election. You know the know one directed by the same gal who directed “The Hurt Locker”. The same gal that got sued for basing the story on real characters from an EOD team without getting permission. This time the Obama people gave her classified information to make this movie about Bin laden and his “death” at the hands of Obama the Destroyer. Hollywood trying to get their favorite liberal reelected president by compromising future missions of the US special forces. The Seals or any other element of the US military does not this type cheerleading BS. Their jobs are no more important than the man who serves them breakfast and that is exactly what they will tell you. Obama is an idiot.
I expect that the Hollywood crowd would criticize anything that didn’t portray Obama as the all conquering hero. That election propaganda they’re working on for the fall will likely show Obama rappelling into Bin Laden’s compound and making the kill shot.
This isn’t an 0bama thing, whatsoever.. It’s been on the books for a few years and you could make the case that they rushed it’s release now so that 0bama couldn’t milk it for votes closer to November. Based on early reviews and audience response this movie sounds very much worth seeing.
The ‘kill OBL’ SEALs movie was indeed planned for release close to the election to give 0bama a boost but that movie’s been delayed to 2013, thank God. LOL!
You left out the part where 0bama jumps over the fence and blows up the stealth helicopter tail that otherwise would be left behind.
Rush is talking it up near the end of the first half hour...
I didn’t know Montel Williams was a Marine and Annapolis graduate. His list of accomplishments are many but his military plans were thwarted due to being given the wrong dose of immunization medication during pre-commissioning (along with 99 others).
I will probably see and enjoy this film. That said, what happened to “Silent Professionals” ?? The SEALs have been in the news more than the Kardashians.
A friend of my daughter went into the Seals a few years ago.
When he left the military he hiked the entire Appalachian Trail for a bit of relaxation.
They are a breed apart.
I don’t think that this will give Obama any kind of boost. Let’s face it, people don’t necessarily think of Obama when they are reminded of the sacrifice that our soldiers make or the hell that they go through for our sake. If anything, this might make him look worse because he is out to slash the defense budget and isn’t a huge fan of the military in general. Everybody knows this.
If this was an attempt by Hollywood to drum up support for their guy, it ain’t going to work.
I happen to love this kind of movie! I also like shows like Surviving the Cut that show you the grueling trials that our men in the military have to go through to become members of the Special Forces, Army Rangers, etc. Very insightful stuff!
I guarantee hollywood will diss this film. There are no hollywood actors and who the hell needs the fakes when you got real Seals.
Then you’re an absolute MORON. The film-makers made this film to stick a thumb in the eye of Hollywood (who didn’t want them to make it) and the administration (who consistently let the military be dissed by their elitist friends.)
Seeing this movie would strike a blow at the heart of both the White House, and Hollyweird...
But don’t let a few facts get in the way of your gasbagging rage...
The directors were very impressed with the SEALs for obvious and not so obvious reasons. During the research phase of the film the directors got to know the SEALs personally and came to realize that no effing left wing wuss (i.e. deCaprio/Demon) Hollywood wimp actors could portray the authentic SEALs so, they cast Active Duty SEALs to accurately portray these men of substance. The directors are Scott Waugh and Mike (Mouse) McCoy. Quoting Mouse, “We connected with these Brotherhood of men and really saw a Brotherhood that we thought only existed in mythology, but was real...”
Also, the Pentagon scrubbed all TTP (technique, tactic and procedure) out of the movie.
Not Breaking News.
Since Obama became president he has specifically singled out the Navy contingent of US Special Operations Command, also known as Navy Seals. Has anyone heard of him mentioninng Army Rangers, Marine Force Recon, US Air Force Pararescue, US Air Force Combat Controllers, ect. The answer is no. They are all highly trained, the best of the best in special forces. Seals are one contingent of this Special Forces Command, which is located at McDill AFB Force, Florida. In past administrations no one unit of the US military has been singled out for special glory and praise, while ignoring the professionalism of the others. This is done for a reason. It is called working as a team and no part being any stronger than the other part of the team. The reason that Neil Armstrong, who was not in the military was chosen to be the first man on the moon is because he was not in the military. Buzz Aldrin was in the Air Force and was chosen to be the second man to set foot on the moon. This was done for a reason. Obama needs to let the military do it’s job and he needs to quit pretending he’s Rambo and that the only special forces in the US military are called Seals. It’s getting silly.
: )
Is too! This is a pro Military movie. Hello, when DID this happen last???
; )
I have been itching to see this movie for months!
