From the Miami Herald, a little-known detail about Sen. Marco Rubio's personal story:
When Marco was 8 years old and living in Las Vegas, the Rubio family attended a Mormon church for a few years.
It's a tidbit just released by the publisher of his memoirs. It's also a piece of the history of Rubio, a rising party star and one of the best-known Hispanic officials in the GOP, that comes as a surprise.
UPDATE: The incomparable Molly Ball points out via Twitter, "Rubio's cousin Mo Denis is Mormon D state sen. in NV." Rubio is a practicing Catholic.
His spokesman, Alex Conant, fills out the history a bit, saying, "His family attended Mormon church in Vegas starting when he was around 8 years old, and then returned to the Catholic Church when he was around 11. He received his first communion in Catholic Church in Las Vegas in 1984, and subsequently was confirmed and married in a Catholic Church."

Blood atonement for apostasy
Most discussion of blood atonement during the Mormon Reformation concerned the killing of "covenant breakers." The greatest covenant breakers were thought to be "apostates," who according to early Mormon doctrine would become sons of perdition and for whom "there is no chance whatever for exaltation." Nevertheless, Brigham Young believed that blood atonement would have at least some benefit. Young's first discussion of blood atonement in 1845 concerned a man who may have been considered an apostate in Nauvoo, Illinois . On February 8, 1857, Young said, regarding apostates, that "if their blood had been spilled, it would have been better for them." Young warned these apostates that although "[t]he wickedness and ignorance of the nations forbid this principle's being in full force, ...the time will come when the law of God will be in full force," meaning that apostates would be subject to theocratic blood atonement. In August 1857, Heber C. Kimball echoed Young's statements about apostates, stating that "if men turn traitors to God and His servants, their blood will surely be shed, or else they will be damned, and that too according to their covenants."
Apostle Heber C. Kimball (1802 - 1868):
I have not a doubt but there will be hundreds who will leave us and go away to our enemies. I wish they would go this fall: it might relieve us from much trouble; for if men turn traitors to God and His Servants, their blood will surely be shed, or else they will be damned, and that too according to their covenants.

I don't know how old you are, but I am old enough to remember all the times Ron has run and his crazyness. The young Mush heads in school now and the 40-50 generation don't know all that and they love the fact he talks about getting rid of the war on drugs, bring all military home, no bases in foriegn countrys etc;
No, they do stop just short of that. they take your prooerty, and try to take your wife and kids. Read The God Makers. Ed Decker left the LDS church. He is the co-author.

You must live an unusual life to have witnessed so many shunnings from so many various Christian denominations, most of us have never seen a single "shunning" from a Christian denomination.
Many, or even most non-Mormons married outside of their own denomination for instance, and we never even heard of "shunning" until we read about Mormons.
Don’t you find it almost amusing that so many mormons know all these “things” Christians do to their members and if you say “what” they accuse you of being blind to your own denominations.
I have seen churches split of really stupid stuff and still get together for pot lucks once a month or so because they are all still brothers and sisters in Christ after all.
obvious left propaganda to try and undermine rubio politically
Rubio is as much of a digbat as Willard Romney. This article says Rubio was baptised in the Morman faith. He went from being a Catholic to being a Morman, now back to Catholic again. He’s not much of Catholic and commits a sin against his Church by not going to Mass, by now attending a Baptist church. This is a weird man folks.
He sounds to me like a big time opportunist who plays to whatever crowd he’s trying to get a vote from.

His family was Catholic and went to lds when he was a kid. As an young adult he returned to Catholicism, now attends a Baptist Church, which he and his family have been attending for years.. I am not sure why that is an issue.
Official Florida House biography. Calls himself a Roman
Catholic. He sounds like a just another big time hypocrite to me. Catholics DO NOT GO TO OTHER CHURCHES FOR WORSHIP unless they are fallen away Catholics and care nothing at all about their faith. This is obviously the case with Rubio.

Really? I think you are wrong, noob.
Ok, I am not getting this. Rubio goes to church with his family and it is a Baptist Church. Of course he cares about faith otherwise he wouldn’t be going to church and being involved with a church family.
I do not know if you are aware that Baptists and Catholics believe in the same God.
When you are 8 yrs old you go where your parents go and do what they tell you. I’m just thankful his folks did not decide to dabble in Scientology.
You’re not bright enough to be obtuse, noob.
Well said (#54)
Then email this Catholic priest and call him wrong.
In the first place a Catholic has no business attending Protestant church services even occasionally. To participate in a heretical worship service and especially a communion service can be sinful for a Catholic because such an act is an affirmation of what we believe to be untrue. To attend an ecumenical service or a wedding or baptism is allowed, but Catholics are not allowed to attend such churches for the main reason of worship. Now if there are no Catholic churches in the vicinity on a Sunday, Catholics are allowed to participate in the Liturgy of Churches whose clergy are validly ordained such as the Eastern Orthodox Churchesincluding the reception of the Eucharist. Although we consider them to be in schism (not in union with the Pope) with the Catholic Church, such Churches are not heretical and share our basic beliefs.
Fr. Vincent Serpa, O.P.
The Southern Baptist Convention’s theology is firmly anti-Catholic.
The Catholic Church teaches that abandoning the faith for a non-Catholic denomination is a mortal sin.
This. In my area there are no Catholic Churches, nor Eastern Orthodox.
Hum?
Can you point out in their beliefs what is “firmly anti-Catholic”. I am just not seeing it.

OMG!! Is he damaged?

Doubtful, since his family came to their senses and left the cult when he was 13.
As CC said, Thank God that many like us have left the evils of Mormonism and came to the truth of Christ.
