Domestic production eyed as gas prices head toward record-breaking height (Obama keeps lying)
Fox News ^ | 2/19/2012 | fox news

President Obama's re-elect team defended White House energy policy on Sunday as gas prices shoot toward the $4 mark and beyond, a level that could devastate voters' pocketbooks as well as Obama's chances for a second term.

Nationally, gas prices are $3.53 a gallon, up 25 cents since Jan. 1, and likely headed to $4.25 a gallon by late April. Republicans have demanded more oil production at home, as well as building the Keystone XL pipeline across the middle of the U.S. to allow oil from Canada to reach Texas refineries.

Obama rejected the plan, but one of his spokesmen, Robert Gibbs, said the president is looking to increase domestic energy production.

"Just on Friday, the Department of Interior issued permits that will expand our exploration in the Arctic. The president has increased our fuel efficiency and energy efficiency standards so we do use less energy, which will help drive down the price," Gibbs said. "Our domestic oil production is at an eight-year high, and our use of foreign oil is at a 16-year low. So we're making progress."

But John Hofmeister, former CEO of Shell Oil and founder of Citizens for Affordable Energy, told Fox News that oil production today is only 7 million barrels per day when it used to be 10 million per day.

The two year shut-down in the Gulf by this liar and his lackey, Salazar, after the oil spill played a huge part in this price rise. You never hear a peep about this from the worthless, toothless GOP members of Congress. They are too busy running for re-election when a full 80% of them should be thrown out of office for not doing their job.

I have no doubt Obama wants gas prices at $5+ a gallon (probably $8 would suit him), but wants it to happen AFTER the Election. He wants more people to move back to urban areas and rely on public transportation.

A refinery had a suspicious fire in the northwest, its shut down. The MSM is avoiding this news story. I would keep a close eye on any other refineries shutting down or having interruptions.

I have a gut feeling somebody has a unified plan to grab America by the throat at the fuel pumps right now and they are working it right now.

Whoever is the GOP nominee, he needs to keep hammering this point home. The price of gasoline is always a point of sensitivity for voters.

The president has increased our fuel efficiency and energy efficiency standards so we do use less energy, which will help drive down the price," Gibbs said.

Wrong. We will be paying development costs to discover and bring to use those more fuel efficient technologies, lighter weight components, etc. There will be no net savings, in fact it will probably cost more in the end. Not only wrong, but an out and out lie. Gibbs and hussein have to know this is true. There is no free lunch, these technologies are not free.

"Our domestic oil production is at an eight-year high, and our use of foreign oil is at a 16-year low. So we're making progress."

Another lie, see

"But John Hofmeister, former CEO of Shell Oil and founder of Citizens for Affordable Energy, told Fox News that oil production today is only 7 million barrels per day when it used to be 10 million per day.

But they are making progress - on their agenda. Weaken us, (as in We The People) and weaken our economic power. I say we weaken them. Do not elect a single big-government liberal this fall. Not one vote for any big-government, tax-and-spend, controlling, liberty-stealing, socialist. In other words, no Democrats, and no RINOs need apply.

Friday, the Department of Interior issued permits that will expand our exploration in the Arctic...

You CAN'T do that! It will take at least 10 years to see anything out if it!

the president is looking to increase domestic energy production...

How? By making the Sun glare at us? By encouraging the wind to blow more?

Real hope and change is $5.00 gas. The Democratic Party, environmentalists and the mainstream media are bringing third world poverty to more Americans every day.

Think “feudalism”, where you see the “nobles” riding in their carriages past fields of “peasants” working the nobles’ fields with hand implements.

This is their dream. That you and I have NO energy to use, and they have control of all energy use.

Are you aware that about half the refining capacity in the Northeast will be ending some time in the next year or so.

"Somehow, we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to levels in Europe."

- Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

Obama, Salazar and Gibbs furiously nod their heads in ascent.

Now why would he do that? Everyone knows that the single, critical issue in this election is government mandated contraception.

Me too, but the good thing was that the same people sitting in those lines to pay inflated prices for gas willingly lined up again in '80 to vote for Reagan.

I look for Hussein to start a campaign blaming the oil companies for the astronomical rise in gas prices. Remember, it is never Hussein's fault, or his idiots' fault, or the fault of his failed policies, it is _____ (fill in the blank) fault!
