Virgil Goode Jr. may have served six terms as a Republican congressman from Virginia, but he now feels he can best effect change as the Constitution Party’s candidate for president.
In a brief interview with The Daily Caller, Goode said his platform consists of four planks: limited government, border security, rapidly adopting a balanced budget and enacting term limits.
“If I’m fortunate enough to get the nomination of the Constitution Party, I will take as many votes from Obama as I would from the Republican nominee,” he said.

So what, the future is what’s important. Santorum is the only one that can stop Romney from winning the nomination and has an excellent chance of beating Hussein. You just keep whining, that will solve all our countries problems.

Who’s whining a-hole? I’m not whining; I’m being realistic. I’m sick and tired of the GOP getting saddled with inferior candidates every friggin’ election cycle. And, I like Rick Santorum, but he needs to engage his brain before he puts his mouth in gear. I believe FR has as it’s slogan: “Loose lips sink ships.”

I understand your frustration, no great candidates ran this time, Santorum is the 1 conservative left that hasn’t bombed out so I back him. If I want to hear some “Obama can’t lose” spiel I’ll watch MSNBC.
Whatever!!!! But, I never said “Obama can’t lose.” I said “these four losers can’t win”. A Jim DeMint or Paul Ryan -type candidate would beat Obozo like a rented mule.
Well the only way to get someone else is this “brokered convention” thing that I agree with you is a very long shot.
DeMint or Ryan should have run, either could gave walked into the nomination. But alas they did not.
Because 2006 was a huge DemocRAT year where oodles of GOP incumbents got crushed and ignorant PA voters confused the "pro-life" Casey with his beloved (and dead) father of the same name. Next question.

So why didn't WOMEN VOTE against Rick Santorum in 2000, 1994, 1992, and 1990? He carried the entire state handily 6 years earlier, even as Al Gore was winning the state over George W. Bush. Santorum's position on birth control wasn't any different then than it is now. He's always been a very traditional social conservative and made no attempt to hide it.
Casey’s margin was very big, I harped on that point myself back when I was poopooing the idea of Santorum as a candidate many months ago.
But at this point who cares? This election is nationwide against a slightly unpopular Obama in 2012 not in a lean dem state in a year when Republicans were as popular as herpes against some scion who lived off of his father’s reputation and pretended to be pro-life.
Santorum is the guy that ran and stuck it out despite polling in the single digits for most of the race and polling shows he could run at least as competitively as supposedly electable RINO Mitt Romney. Case closed AFAIC.
I should have added who ever thought Obama would be President after Bobby Rush cleaned his clock in a House primary? Or Clinton after he got booted out as Governor after 1 term? Things change.
I'd crawl over broke glass to vote for ANY Republican over Obama (even someone to the left of Romney like Huntsman) IF my vote mattered, but I've gotten quite cynical over the last decade as Illinois seems to always go RAT no matter what we do. Given the fact I'm in "Obama's home state" and I doubt the GOP will even TRY to win, I'd consider voting for Goode if the GOP nominated a real untrustworthy smileball. I voted for McCain 4 years ago simply because Palin was his running mate. While I can't say I regret that vote, nor can I say voting Republican for President accomplished anything (according to the official totals, during Obama-mania, McCain won 37% of the vote in my pct. without lifting a finger to campaign here, whereas Bill Brady "won" 33% of the vote in my pct. 2 years later while working his butt off to campaign in suburban Crook County against a Democrat NOBODY likes. Nah. Pay no attention to that oddity, there's no vote fraud here. Right.)
So if anyone is in a safe GOP state like Oklahoma or safe RAT state like California, I wouldn't cast judge if they vote for Goode over a RINO. Of course, I would never advocate doing so if you're in a hotly contested state like Colorado. Votes for third party conservatives do indeed risk handing the election to the RATs in those states, look no further than Bob Baar's vote total in N.C. (where he was the ONLY third party candidate on the ballot), compared to Obama's margin of victory in the state. Without Baar, that state's electoral votes would have gone to the Republican. And it was especially foolish for conservatives to vote for "Libertarian" Baar since he spent that campaign renouncing all the decent thing he did in Congress like passing the defense of marriage act.
Of course, that's a big "if", since we don't even know if the Constitution Party will nominate Goode yet. (I can see why he's running, being out of office he has nothing to lose. That's another one even worse than Santorum though-- I can't figure out how a RAT won his district since it's super conservative and Goode himself only won there by being a total DINO.). Also, I think the Keyes people still control the AIP in California. If the CP has any brains, I hope they're working out a truce there where the AIP will endorse Goode if he's the CP nominee. We'll see.

There was high Black and university kid (University of Virginia) turnout in Goode’s district which resulted in McCain winning it by only 3 points. Add in that the rat Perriello ran as a “conservative Democrat” the controversy over Goode and the Koran thing and some stupid nonsense about a Goode staffer having a minor acting role in some “gay-themed movie” called “Eden’s Curve” and there you have it, Goode was upset by an extremely small margin.
He could have walked back into the seat as a Republican but declined and instead flirted with running for it as an independent since the Republican nominee Robert Hurt had a less than stellar record. Ultimately he didn’t and Hurt unseated Perriello.
George H. Bush in '88: Your successor will be the fat lecherous hillbilly from Arkansas who bored everyone to death introducing Dukasis at this year's poorly received Democratic National Convention! And the enviro looney from Tennessee who got killed in this year's Democrat primary will be his running mate!
Clinton in '92: Your successor will the son with the same name of the 1-term geek you just defeated! He's 46 years old, has never been elected to anything, recently gave up heavy drinking, and owns a baseball team in Texas now. Watch out for this guy!
George W. Bush in 2000: Your successor will be an obscure backbencher Illinois State Senator who just ran a failed campaign to oust a unpopular black panther Congressman! Oh yeah, he also has a history of using drugs, attending a church that claims Reagan invented AIDS, and a weird African name that nobody can pronounce, but reminds people of Arab terrorists.
So a guy becoming President when his most recent office ended in him being slaughtered for re-election by an empty suit politician's kid? Well, stranger things HAVE happened...
Even when he won reelection in 2000, he lost women to his Dem opponent. It was only a 57% victory among men that saved him that year.
He is unlikeable and unliked by those who knew him best: Pennsylvania voters.
They have very good reasons to dislike him; try reading up on his record. Try as you might spin, no incumbent loses in that kind of a blood bath without it being personal with the voters.
Goode is from my district. This is nuts. Being a ticket splitter would destroy his future and certainly not strip away any 0 votes.
Maybe Goode can get some Obama supporters out here to get his campaign started.
