WASHINGTON Ohio Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown was more than four months delinquent in paying taxes on his Washington, D.C., apartment and had to pay a penalty and interest last week.
This was not the first time, records show.
Brown also was delinquent in 2006 and 2007 and paid penalties and interest, according to tax records from the District of Columbia.
"I was late," he said on a conference call with reporters when asked about the recent delinquency. "I misplaced the bill and I paid it as soon as I found out. I paid a penalty for being late, and it won't happen again."
When a reporter noted that it also happened five and six years ago, Brown said: "I misplaced it then. This is a small apartment. I'm not in D.C. nearly every week, I'm here when the Senate's in session, I'm here three or four nights a week. I paid the penalty. And in no way, obviously, was I avoiding taxes."

Because the dog ate it worked so well the first time around, Sherrod tries the same excuse for three consecutive property tax bills in 2006 and 2007. With no reporters reminding him, Sherrod actually fell so far behind on property taxes his condo was listed for public auction! Odd that a U.S. Senator would forget the existence of taxes for months on end, springing into action only when his property is on the line.
I love Sherrods volley of additional excuses. Its a small apartment! Hes there less than 57% of the time! Hes been serially delinquent with payments, but was in no way avoiding taxes by not paying taxes! Obviously.
Since his election to the Senate, Sherrod has paid over $850 in penalties and interest for his failure to submit D.C. property taxes on time. Thats peanuts for a millionaire who promises trillions to interest groups and insists soaking the rich & slashing the military will pay for it.

Funny how stories like these almost always get published on Friday.
What parent would name their son “Sherrod”?
No wonder he’s got issues.
Presumably his momma ... According to the Wikipedia:
In 2009, when the vote on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act came down to just a few votes, Brown (an ardent advocate of the legislation) was attending services for his deceased mother. The White House provided a plane in order to fly him back to vote for the bill when it was determined that no commercial flight would make it on time. Although most senators voted shortly after 5:30 p.m., the 60th and final vote was not cast until 10:46 p.m. by Sen. Sherrod Brown.[35]
Hopefully, next year, Sherrod's time will be his own, not the White House's.
“Ha ha, Sherrod you are” (to paraphrase Pink Floyd from the
album “Animals”).
the dog ate it
Damnit, I wanted to say that.
Ohio Ping
Ohio pings..
Do NY Democrats pay their taxes or pay them on time?? NO!!!
Do ANY Democrats pay their taxes or pay them on time?? NO!!!
It’s okay though because he’s a Democrat.
Wow...this is a surprise....NOT!!
But, I am sure that the MSM will go hound him like they are hounding Santorum for buying some non-American cars.
