Rick Santorum made an odd comment in North Dakota on Wednesday. Praising the state for its energy production, he warned his audience that its success in the field might lead to terrorist attacks. CNN reports:
Rick Santorum warned a quiet North Dakota audience Wednesday that their states booming oil industry positioned the region as a prime target for terrorism.
Folks, youve got energy here. Theyre going to bother you

Terrorists attacked the Israeli-Egypt pipline a dozen times in the last year. Not a single fatality or injury.
Last week, they attacked a natural gas pipeline in Syria. Again, not one injury.
One of al Qaeda’s big follow-up attacks after 9/11 was an attack on the French tanker The Limburg. One crewman was killed. I’ll go out on a limb and say the 160 tons of crude lost at sea satisfied AQ much, much more.
In ten minutes, any FReeper can find hundreds of similar attacks with a simple search of their favorite search engine.
Oh the irony...
“One question....what would Newts comments be? “
Newt’s always talking about an EMP attack.
Spoken like a half watt bulb. They attacked the towers because the towers were the central symbol to them of American capitalism. Wake up.
PF, what part of “no more trashing conservative candidates on FR” did you miss? Lemmie guess...calling Santorum an idiot isn’t bashing him because you are special right?
Is that meowing I hear? Can’t really tell with all the ozone in the air around here.
I care. I want to win. I am a very strong proponent for a unified GOP to go against the commies.
Agreed. I can see the SNL sketch now (think “I can see Russia from my house”)
Hilarious.
They don’t have the means to do an EMP attack against the US. It sells books, but I seriously doubt those two backward states can do something like that.
“All the available intelligence suggests they will go after population centers...even if that happens to be a refinery or a nuke plant.
This is nothing but bizarre conjecture on Santorum’s part and it shows he will NOT play well in a general election.”
But if Newt warns of an EMP attack, which doesn’t kill anyone, then that’s thoughtful and profound. OK...
All fifty states and all U.S. territories are at risk for terrorist attacks, thanks to all of the illegal immigrants that exist, throughout the fifty states and throughout all U.S. territories!
That’s a ‘heartless’ and ‘inhumane’ thing to say!
There is no publicly available intelligence to suggest any terrorist organization is targeting oil production in the US.
It would be FAR, FAR easier to disrupt shipment out of the Arabian Gulf.
ALL publicly available intelligence says the risk in the USA is the population centers. Body count.
You must be another one of those ignorant fools who believes every word Santorum says. If you did know even a small portion about how the petroleum producing infrastructure works, then you would also know that you could bomb or damage over half of the producing network and not slow production of refining capability down, even a fraction of a percent. Every system has bypass or alternative routs as well as a stored reserve tanks to offset fluctuations in shipping and supply.
It would not only take several thousand “terrorists” to attack simultaneously, but even if they could, we would still get the product moved and refined.
So, give it a break and leave your analysis for the professionals who know something about the subject.
lmao!
I am not the guy threatening to vote third party and becoming hysterical over Romney supporters writing garbage like this. Nor am I naive enough to think the goals of jihadists are simply body counts. It is a common mistake to think your enemies or opponents are stupid. A fatal mistake at times.
You are demonstrating your complete lack of knowledge in this security issue.
Not unlike Santorum.
FR’s resident cannibals are out again, I see...
