Rick Santorum made an odd comment in North Dakota on Wednesday. Praising the state for its energy production, he warned his audience that its success in the field might lead to terrorist attacks. CNN reports:
Rick Santorum warned a quiet North Dakota audience Wednesday that their states booming oil industry positioned the region as a prime target for terrorism.
Folks, youve got energy here. Theyre going to bother you

Although he could be right, the MSM will make him look goofy for statements like this. Of course, he could just say “hi” to someone and they’ll try to make him look goofy.

The guy is nothing short of bazaar. He has made so many, really moronic statements, that not even he has the time to explain them. The MSM will rip this idiot into confetti for Obama to use in his inaugural parade.

Well in Santorum’s case he does that perfectly well without their help.

Rick spells catastrophe if we’re stupid enough to make him the nominee. I doubt we break 40% in the election with him.

Every state in the union is a potential terrorist target.

I wouldn’t have made that statement on the campaign trail for all sorts of reasons (it’s easy to ridicule, it might give the enemy ideas etc.).
But having said that he may well be right. If I were the terrorists instead of trying to hit the expected targets I’d try to go after someplace rural and unexpected. The goal of terrorism is to terrorize (duh!).
You hit a place like that and no one will feel like they’re safe.
To: tet68
I think he was talking about the EPA.Well, that is a known terrorist organization.

I read it and can find nothing wrong with his statement.
You folks have to realize Obama sounds like an idiot 10 times a day, the media doesnt focus on it and republicans are not good enough at it either.
I assume this is a left wing site because they seem to say he shouldnt support a pipeline if he thinks it might be targeted by terrorists. They see that as a contradiction. I don’t. I see both points as correct.
I swear that if I worked for a republican candidate and if they would let me do it, I could turn countless Obama speeches and comments into major issues.

Islamists intend to attack energy infrasctructure. Iran is the biggest exporter of islamist terror on the planet. When Iran is a nuclear power, they'll be a bolder enemy and a more dangerous terrorist threat.
Duh. When did National Review turn into the Washington Post? Oh I know. When WFB made his last, greatest mistake and turned his once proud publication over to the chipmunk.
FUNR.

You may be correct about that. I would even say that if Santorum gets the nomination, there will be a genuine Tea Party based 3rd party effort.
By then all of Reverend Ricky's moderate, insider/Mega Government history and record will be fully out in the open. I will support that effort gladly, myself.

So ? in the past on Free Republic there have been many articles about North Korea's and Iran's capability of launching a EMP attack on the United States, and you and Newt supporters criticize Rick Santorum for being prepared for terrorist attacks from Iran ?
That stance won't help Newt as a National Security Candidate.
So the Newt supporters criticize Rick Santorum of warning people of a attack from terrorist from Iran who could be already here and see the North Dakota oil production as a potential target.
So what would the Newt supporters have us do ? leave our oil production areas venerable to a terrorist attack ? yeah, really smart.
This is the Newt supporters making hay over nothing.
To: All
For those of you who are unaware of it, there is a huge oil boom going on in Williston, ND.
They have found a huge new oil field there.
This sleepy town of about 15,000 people when we lived there has absolutely boomed. There was an hour long tv show on this recently.
We didn’t recognize the town that we had lived in.
So, Mr. Santorum may not be that far off with his warning.

This is just plain silly.
Santorum needs to learn to stay on message.
Islamic Terrorists are interested in body count above all other things. That's why they call it terrorism instead of sabotage.
Friggin' rookie.
