Mitt Romney, whose campaign is preparing a multi-million dollar wave of negative advertising to persuade voters that Rick Santorum should not be president, says he is open to the possibility of choosing Santorum to be his running mate should Romney win the Republican nomination.
Romney appeared on Fox News Wednesday morning and was asked, "You and Rick Santorum, we haven't seen you go head-to-head yet In the big picture, could you see a scenario where you two team up?"
"Oh, I think it's always possible to have people come together in our party, whether it's Rick and I, or others in the party, who knows?" Romney responded. "It's a little early to tell something like that, but we have similar views on issues -- very different backgrounds."

Santorum is one of the good ole boys of the Senate and the establishment.
I don’t buy the “stalking horse” idea at all. Hasn’t almost in this race been accused of being Romney’s “stalking horse”. To take as non-commital a comment as this and claim it proves anything is stupid. Didn’t Santorum say he wouldn’t rule out Newt as a Veep choice? Is that proof Newt is a stalking horse?
You fell for a planted story by Romney and spread his BS !
Are you a Romney plant !
“establishment”
Santorum w/Romneymcain as VP I might vote for. We see how important biden is.
You take Romney’s word for this? Keep in mind that he is a congenital liar.
It’s very hard to see a comment like this as anything but an attempt to undermine Santorum and portray himself as Mr. Important.
Im still pulling for Sarah
Maybe a Paul bot ?
That’s gutsy.
Like Fred Thompson ole’ stalking horse for senate buddy McCain?
That would be the worst possible scenario. Neither one of them could win the election on their own. Together they could not win real good.
Sir/Madam, you are a scholar and a gentleman(woman).... You betcha!!!
I saw Romeny on F&F this a.m. . . . and they were asking IF he was going to “go after Santorum” like he did Newt and then asked this . . . Romney was just slithering through the answer saying how “oh we come from different career backgrounds” and have differences but sure it is a possibility . . . seemed fake to me and just to squirm out of the “negative attack ad” question.
Dayum.

Don’t waste your vote or money
Santorum would not allow romney on his ticket.
lol!
So you believe that Santorum as VP for Myth would help Romney? And ya can’t wait to jump on the Romney/Santorum ticket?
Again, I rest my case.
Stalking horses don’t lead the pack. (Newt is losing badly now, guess he is the stalking horse for Romney now too...)
Santorum ENDORSED Romney in 2008 as the TRUE conservative - he wanted to be his VP in 2008.
Again, I rest my case.
