Admin Moderator of JimRob, I know this is not the normal place for a vanity. I would, however, ask that you allow this editorial to stay here on a one-time-exception basis. This is an important take on the contraception controversy that has emerged.

If the leadership of the GOP happens to see this, perhaps they will do something to counter the plan.

Angered by the arrogance and the mandate to go against their conscience, soon a bill was proposed that would stop these unConstitutional mandates.

That is a very good point. This not just about abortion or a war on Catholics. This is a direct attack against religion and the American People realize that. The "Statist Left" were not expecting the uproar.

Not only does this move make (some/most) women feel protected, it is after all a freebie —— it also throws red meat into the middle of the Republican primaries to distract from economic and national defense issues - - - and garner great soundbites for the general election.

At least one Republican candidate has taken the bait.

Note this line from this article: Insisting that it is “dangerous” and “wrong” for women not to have access to contraceptives free of charge, the White House.....

Implication: ALL WOMEN EVERYWHERE. Not those who have moral objections, in institutions that have moral objections. ALL WOMEN is the implication.

The White House is telegraphing the media, who will happily cooperate, how to lie.

Laz, my man, you are absolutely right about this.

First, it is nonsense to pretend that the HHS mandate had something to do with birth control accessibility. Contraceptives are already at the point of total market saturation. You can ”access” them for free at the County Health Department, the University Student Wellness Center, and Gay Men’s Park ‘n’ Spark, and for about the cost of a Hershey bar at every Wal-Mart, every Food City, every truck-stop and every Bubba’s Beer and Bait. They couldn’t be more accessible if they bagged them up with the M&M’s.

Second, it’s certainly not an issue of “choice.” All users are choosers, and they don’t need my tax money or my online banking password in order to do it.

Third, we’ve got these truly existential issues of the flogged and prostrate global economy, the shredded Constitution, the disastrous foreign and military policy decisions of the past 4 years, the Obamunist tyranny, and now they're coaching the "women voters" to shake their booties to the Democrat tom-toms and start chanting, “The Pope's a Republican and is gonna grab my NuvaRing”?

Please. This is misdirection. And it’s so obvious it makes the "My First Crayola Pack" look subtle.

This has nothing to do with contraception. This has everything to do with mandating religious behaviors and belief. Contraception is the hill they are fighting on, but the war is over forcing the Church to do something they will not -- and they CANNOT.

I fully agree with that except that the Church and many on the right are accepting and responding to the premise created by the left that this only affects religious institutions. What about the 1st Amendment rights of the unaffiliated individual citizen?

The Dems have created the false perception that they have made an exception for religious institutions. However they haven't even offered that phoney baloney concession for the rest of us. They have mandated that all insurance policies cover abortions and abortion-inducing "contraceptives" so no one can escape participating in the murder of unborn humans other than to go uninsured and be in violation of the law.

That is a violation of everyone's freedom of religious exercise.

Lazamataz, a very good essay.

I didn't really look carefully at the source or author, and when I scrolled back up, as I liked the piece, it was you!

Bravo!

You know Stephanoupolis too well. You smelled a rat and it is he!

We have, in front of us, what the Democrats wish to make the election about: Scaring women with outright lies. Apparently, scaring the elderly in the same way isn't working as well.

This issue has already blown up in their faces. Poll numbers out yesterday showed 60% of Catholics disapproving of Obama. If those numbers hold, he can't win. Period.

One thing I don’t think they figured into the equation....even catholics who use birth control do not want to see their church put in this position.

The catholic vote in Pa? Ohio?.....buh bye!

Great stuff.

As usual the regime has thought this out so it accomplishes a myriad of goals instead of just another lie created and than repeated by the DBM.

The contraception, the budget that was never meant to fly, the 80% cut in nukes which will never take place, all are of the same genre.

The ideas here are to divert the attention of many of us from the constant destruction of the economy. Currently, obamacare itself is at stake with the right to force Americans to buy anything now being litigated. Without this provision much of obamcare will sink of its own weight.

It's all smoke and mirrors with the smoke coming on fast and furious.

And he’s got Moochelle in the church starting new healthy food programs inter-connected with faith. VID here. Laz, you are right on. When Steffie asked that question, I was like, where is this on the radar screen—this topic is nowhere in sight.

But you are correct, it was the first pitch of a co-ordinated attack, with planned short range and long range benefits for the radical leftists that now control the Democcrat party.

The cat was out of the bag with Steffie when he helped Zero recover from the “ my religion is Muslim” remark.

Steffie is such a good foot soldier.

Dick Morris expounded this theory last nite on O’Reilly. O’Reilly poo-pooed it, but Morris worked with Stepanopolous during the Clinton years.

I think it was an almost ‘brilliant’ calculation in kicking the issue out there like that.

What people forget, its really not about contraception, its about the first amendment.
