True believer: How Mitt Romney... by wearing special Mormon underwear
UK Daily Mail ^ | February 14, 2012 | Graham Smith

The Mormon faith of presidential candidate Mitt Romney has been one of the hot topics throughout the Republican's campaign. But a recent photo posted on social network website Twitter took speculation about the strength of his religious beliefs to new heights. It shows the GOP nominee wearing an unbuttoned white shirt with his Mormon underwear clearly visible underneath. Also known as a Temple garment, it typically covers the shoulders and extends to the knees, in deference to rules surrounding the Church of the Latter Day Saints' temples.

You have not presented the official mormon position on the eternal status of Christians, which is standard practice for mormons.

What can we find an 'OFFICIAL MORMON'    teaching??
Official sites are sites supported by LDS officials unless said official sites are consider unofficial by said officials.
At that point such sites are unofficial unless officially referenced for official purposes by officials who can do so officially.

This should not be misconstrued as an indication that official sites can be unofficially recognized as official nor should it be implied that unofficial sites cannot contain official information, but are not officially allowed to be offical despite their official contents due the their unofficialness.

Official sites will be official and recognized as official by officials of the LDS unless there is an official reason to mark them as unofficial either temporally or permanently, which would make the official content officially unofficial.

This is also not to imply that recognized sites, often used here by haters cannot contain official information, it just means that content, despite its official status, is no longer official and should be consider unofficial despite the same information being official on an official site elsewhere.

Even then the officialness my be amended due to the use of the unofficial information which may determine the officialness of anything be it official or unofficial depending on how and where it is used officially or unofficially.
I hope this clear things up for the lurkers out there.
The haters tend to make things complicated and confusing when it is all really quite crystal clear.   --Ejonesie22

Salvation is simple. Simple enough even for a child if adults don't place their prejudices into it.

AMEN!

We agree on this!

John 6:28-29 (niv)

Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”

Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

1 John 3:21-24

Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.  And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.  The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

I'd rather break bread with a humble before GOD Mormon than a pious condemning {name church sect} anyday. <>Speaking of which; have you had a chance to look at reply #37?

I do NOT think anything has changed.

Because too be honest I don't see anyone to support.

I tend to feel the same way.

Therefore, I guess I'll have to direct my attention to someone who I can REJECT for other reasons.

Some folks may not LIKE my reasons, but what can ya do?

If he tells you the Book of Mormon was a true witness for Christ, you will know it was. If he tells me it was not, then I will know it was not.

Where can the FULLNESS be found in it?

Why wouldn’t you speak of your church’s teaching on the afterlife?

Because it is TOO painfull!

How would YOU like it, if you've done all the right things and gotten your TR and die and get into the HIGHEST part of Heaven; where GOD will dwell, and then KNOW that about 85% of ALL MORMONs will NOT be there with you?!?

Perhaps I can do what others seem to hard difficulty with.

Apostle and popular church educator John Widtsoe wrote:

"Now, it may be contended that a judgment, with some degree of salvation for all, encourages the sinner to pursue his dark ways. Not so. However generous the judgment, it is measured by our works. Our punishment will be the heavy regret that we might have received a greater reward, a higher kingdom, had our lives conformed more nearly to truth. Such remorse may yield keener pain than physical torture." (Understandable Religion, p. 89)

While Widtsoe is careful not to call a heavenly kingdom "hell", he is nonetheless certain that there will be a keen regret for lost opportunities:

"Humanity will be grouped according to their works in three main divisions: Celestial (like the sun), Telestial (like the moon), Terrestrial (like the earth). Within each group there will be many gradations and divisions, until from the lowest to the highest in all groups there will be a series of gradually ascending glories. There can be no talk of a hell, except for the few 'sons of Perdition,' but undoubtedly the regret for lost opportunities will be keen among those in the lower degrees of glory." (Program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, p. 226)

Joseph Fielding Smith, on the other hand, considers the tormenting regret experienced in the bottom two heavenly kingdoms and concludes "in that sense it will be hell":

"This earth will become a celestial kingdom when it is sanctified. Those who enter the terrestrial kingdom will have to go to some other sphere which will be prepared for them. Those who enter the telestial kingdom, likewise will have to go to some earth which is prepared for them, and there will be another place which is hell where the devil and those who are punished to go with him will dwell. Of course, those who enter the telestial kingdom, and those who enter the terrestrial kingdom will have the eternal punishment which will come to them in knowing that they might, if they had kept the commandments of the Lord, have returned to his presence as his sons and his daughters. This will be a torment to them, and in that sense it will be hell." (Answers to Gospel Questions, v. 2, p. 210)

This line of thinking is interesting in light of Joseph Smith's following teaching:

"A man is his own tormenter and his own condemner. Hence the saying, They shall go into the lake that burns with fire and brimstone. The torment of disappointment in the mind of man is as exquisite as a lake burning with fire and brimstone" (TPJS, p. 357)

The entry in the Encyclopedia of Mormonism on "Damnation" essentially explains that the bottom two kingdoms of heaven are kingdoms of damnation:

"Just as there are varying degrees and types of salvation, coupled with eternal progression in some areas (D&C 76:96-98; 131:1-4), so are there varying degrees and types of damnation. In LDS doctrine, to be damned means to be stopped, blocked, or limited in one's progress. Individuals are damned whenever they are prevented from reaching their full potential as children of God. Damnation is falling short of what one might have enjoyed if one had received and been faithful to the whole law of the gospel. In this sense, all who do not achieve the highest degree of the Celestial Kingdom are damned, even though they are saved in some degree of glory."

HEAVEN-The Mormon church teaches there are three levels of heaven (three "degrees of glory"):

HELL: A place of torment from which the worst of sinners are resurrected (if they repent) into the Telestial kingdom; only a limited number remain in hell forever, - the devil and the demons and apostates who consciously reject and work against Mormonism.

...I too have been helped by Christian Mormons in the past,...

I think we have some 'christian' MORMONs on FR; but, for whatever reason, they CHOOSE to stay affliated with the proven heresy of MORMONism.

Our prayers are that they will find the strength they need to break away from the coils of mormonISM.

There is not a church in existence with perfect doctrine. None can claim it.

And yet we have a 'holy bible' and the 'word of GOD'.

James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Legalisms can not save you nor will they send you too hell.

Oh?

Seems I recall Jesus as being a bit, shall we say, HARSH, with the LEGALISTS of His day:

Matthew 23:15

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.

8Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.

Jude

17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

However, there are some branches of Mormonism that have remained or returned to Christianity.
__________________________________________________

Mormonism never was related to Christianity...

Joey Smith hated the LORD Jesus Christ and Christians...

He wanted to get as far away from Christianity as he could...

He opposed the tenets of Christian beliefs as set in the Word of God, the Bible.....

He corrupted all 10 of the Commandments ...for instance replacing Thou shalt not commit adultery with the necessity for polygamy to become a god and go to the Mormon idea of an afterlife..

and in place of the LORD Jesus Christ Joey Smith himself became the judge...

It became more of a deadly sin to disagree with Joey Smith and Brigham Young than to disobey God...

Even the form of redemption is unrecognizable...

Salvation for the living through the shed blood of the LORD Jesus on the Cross being replaced with proxy baptism of the dead..

Mormonism is a false religion closer to Islam than anything Christians believe...

“. . .there are some branches of Mormonism that have remained or returned to Christianity. “

Then they are not Mormons. Why would they call themselves Mormons? I will tell you why - because the strength of that culture is overwhelming, and it is the same with Romney, which is my original point.

Ideas affect actions.
