While billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson may have rescued Newt Gingrichs campaign in its early days, today, he may have just buried it.
Bloomberg News reports that Adelson, who has donated $11 million to Gingrichs Super PAC, does not plan to send any more money Gingrichs way. Bloomberg is citing an anonymous source familiar with their deliberations, though an Adelson spokesman declined to comment.
The move seems to be weeks in the making. After poor showings by Gingrich in the last several races and the re-resurgence of Rick Santorum, the former House speaker has once again been pushed to the back of the Republican field. And Adelson may be shifting his focus. According to CNN, Adelson met with Mitt Romney in Nevada last week and assured Romney that he will be behind him 100 percent should he become the nominee.
What may be more alarming though is as money seems to be flooding out of the Gingrich camp, it appears to be heading into to Santorums, no doubt helped by his three-state sweep Tuesday.

I’ll wait for this to be reported by a source I trust.
From what Business Insider articles I have read, my perception is that they lean way to the left.
I have no idea what’s going on here or even if this report has any validity. The two sources are not reliable.
Keep praying and keep the faith.
Go suck eggs. Make the case for Newt without bashing Rick.

I guess caususes don't count?
Santorum has now won 4 states.
BUMP YOUR POST TO THE TOP!
GOD BLESS YOU, DEAR re_nortex!!!
"Keep praying and keep the faith."
10 4 good buddy =).
You and me both.
God bless you my dear pal.
God bless Newt and all of his patriot supporters!
God be with him!
I too was sure of that a couple of days ago. But I'm beginning to wonder if the GOP-e has concluded Santorum is somebody they can work with. I also suspect Romney AND the GOP-e figure after their plain, obvious destruction of 3-4 candidates (most notably and blatantly Gingrich) they truly fear backlash.
Either way we may not see an assault on Santorum until/unless he wins enough delegates to win the nomination...or appears certain to do so.
The Democrats have no fear of a candidate who has led with Social Conservatism all his political life. They'll wait until Santorum is the nominee and THEN use a still-sharp tool: Ridicule.
Pictures of Santorum with preachers laying on hands. Obscure quotes, often out of context, that sound right out of the Assemblies of God Sunday School. References to statements about legislation where he supports or is against, in which he cites God or Jesus as the source of his reasoning.
You won't hear anything about taxes, spending, programs or national defense.
Culture war 100% and non-stop in every possible media environment...facebook, internet ads, search engines, tv, radio, newspapers, magazines and ALL the commentators in all of them.
They will take the VERY SAME TACT with Romney only it'll be about Mormonism.
Obama 60% of the vote and 45 states if Santorum or Romney gets the nomination. Significant losses in the House and Senate for the GOP.
Whether we like it or not, a culture war is NOT what we can lead with and we can't put a candidate up like these two if we want to win.
I know many think I'm crazy or amoral for saying it, but I believe it...and that's NOT an endorsement.
BTTT!
Grow up.
Romney can only win by going scorched earth against his rivals and Santorum is unscathed. It’s his turn. Romney hasn’t spent $50+ Million to see his ambitions fail at this point.
Gingrich has to rebound and he started tonight by not even mentioning his rivals.
GO NEWT!
Mind your manners n00b.
Yes it is. Even after facts and paperwork have been made public you still lie.
There are those like myself who have been very respectful of Ron Paul even when we believe the man’s foreign policy is devoid of the realities encircling the globe.
Speaking for myself, I don’t call people Paulbots, or make fun of Ron Paul or his supporters. But I can tell you this, it’s the Ron Paul supporters who I’ve always come across foaming at the keyboards when Congressman Paul is critized on anything.
will be leaving a mark.
Thanks onyx:) I am going to fight to the end for NEWT!
