JFK and 19-year-old White House intern Mimi Alford -- a truly shameful revelation
Fox News ^ | February 07, 2012 | Phyllis Chesler

Posted on 02/07/2012 3:41:09 PM PST by Ron C.

This is a story about a young and impressionable female intern in the White House -- a virgin, with girlish dreams about princes and presidents. Young girls are trained to marry the wealthiest or most powerful man on the block. When the prince comes calling, few young girls can resist this opportunity.

However, they are not the ones who are abusing power and betraying both youth and a wife. That would be the prince or president himself.

And no, I am not talking about Monica Lewinsky in the Clinton White House.

I am talking, sadly, about the recent revelations by a former intern, Mimi Alford, in the Kennedy White House. Alford is no Marilyn Monroe, who was reputedly the mistress of both John F. and Robert F. Kennedy. Nor, is she Judith Exner, who was reputedly the "Mata Hari" connection between President Kennedy and Sam Giancana, a Mafia operative. These were adult women who chose to use their sexuality to further their careers.

Thank you Renegade. I did some research this morning and I swear My memory must have implanted the F14 image over the Phantom that was probably the plane in service.

I was on an Oiler and watched those things launched for hours, and I still can’t get the correct picture in my head.

In my mind I think the Prop planes were gull wing shaped, but I can’t find any picture of them anywhere, maybe I have WW II movies mixed into my recall.

I know they Prop planes were used to carry heavy loads of bombs and fly low and slow.

Looks like there were some F-16N's but you are right, more likely the planes that I saw must have been Phantoms No pun intended

The reality is we were in full fledged operation launching many air strikes against North Vietnam, when Kennedy was killed, I was there. Of course we didn't get real nasty until the Maddox and C Turner Joy, were supposedly attacked, which led to the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution.

My ship met both of the above returning to port as we were going back. In total I made three trips, for all I know I may be running them all together.

This whole discussion came about because someone was saying LBJ started the war, not Kennedy.

Check out the A -1 Skyraider. It was a prop plane that carried a $hitload of munitions . I think they still use them today.

Young girls who go after married men had a different name in my household when I was growing up (to be fair, so did the married men who cheated).

***
Uh-huh! Same as my home.

I wanted to read the article, BTW, but after reading that offensive part, I just refused to give the writer the hit.

Actually, Eisenhower got us ‘involved’. Not on a massive scale but still put U.S. personnel over there.

&&&
You are correct, of course. I had forgotten about that detain.

Was Onassis investigated after JFK was killed?

"chase down rich men"

I can't answer that, but when responding in comment, I saw where my question had come up..reporting that a person in the presence of Onassis said he did not show any sign of surprise at the news event of the shooting, and said {as how can we really know what another is thinking] that he already seemed aware.

She was close to Joe as would leave the others and go sit at his knee after his stroke. He would be the first she would visit upon her return to the Cape Cod home.

She did not have to chase down rich men. Onassis she had met thought the circle of friends of her sister. When not in Italy she was beside her husband. JFK and his brothers had the issue of "chasing" anything in a skirt. As in the one you marry to raise the family, and the one you don't bring home and hope no one finds out about.

My cousin tells me stories about his side of the family now deceased lived on Beacon Hill, neighbors, best friends in that social circle. Even becoming part of the Rockefeller family..all intertwined.

I always felt that JFK’s murder had the whiff of international intrigue to it...and Onassis was so well connected. Don’t forget about his long-time mistress, Maria Callas, who died well before her time. Money does not necessarily equate with class.

Reminded me a bit of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed son of Mohammed Fayed's marriage to the late Samira Khashoggi, the sister of billionaire arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi.

Fayed and his father were viewed here as Onassis-like characters, super-rich outsiders in Camelot.

When the 41-year-old playboy fell for Diana this summer and whisked her to the Mediterranean on his father's 190-foot yacht, a friend of his said, "He sees himself as Aristotle Onassis and Diana as his Jackie O."

Diana apparently felt the same way. "I think Di understands why Jackie Kennedy married Onassis," the Daily Mail's royal watcher, Richard Kay, wrote at the time. "There was this extraordinary circus around her, and he offered the opportunity to get away from it." --In Memory Dodi Al-Fayed

Many years ago, my husband and I had a home on Cat Cay, a favorite port o’ call for the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Many of the individuals there were truly decent, honorable, first-class. And many were not.

“National or NYC local?”

As I said in an earlier post, I saw it in Los Angeles. It aired on JFK’s birthday, May 29, 1962.

Try again. F-14s were not introduced until the 1970s, either.

Huh? F-14s were at Pearl Harbor, dude. They even shot down a couple Zeros. That was 1941, and I've seen the footage with my own Mk.1 eyeballs ...

Ok, seriously, lets all cut the guy some slack given the time lag involved. The fighter aircraft he's thinking of were either F-4s or F-8s, and the prop planes were A-1 Skyraiders.

Yup, must have been the Vought F-8 Crusader (a real beast of an airplane, by the way) and F-4 Phantoms. The prop job must have been — as you point out — the A-1 Skyraider, which carried a hell of a lot of ordnance for such a small (relatively speaking) airplane.

Which ship were you on, and do you remember the names of the carriers you saw?

If you saw any of the upgraded Essex class, then you wouldn't have seen F-4s. They only operated from the Midway and Forrestal (and the follow-on supercarrier classes) class ships.

You have me confused with another poster. It was not I who said I was on a ship in 1963 launching F-16s; it was I who questioned the guy who said that.

I’m an Air Force vet (1970 - 1974). There are a lot of things I don’t know, but I know aircraft.

I was in college when JFK was killed and knew nothing about his girlfriends until Judith Campbell Exner, JFK’s mafia girlfriend, went public.

Her involvement was revealed in 1975 during the investigations of the Church Committee and first published by William Safire in The New York Times.

She wrote a book, ‘Judith Exner: My Story’ in 1977, which told many stories about JFK: his affair with a Danish woman who might have been a spy during World War II and his affair with Marilyn Monroe. Exner also said that Kennedy brought prostitutes to the White House swimming pool.
