Huh? F-14s were at Pearl Harbor, dude. They even shot down a couple Zeros. That was 1941, and I've seen the footage with my own Mk.1 eyeballs ...
Ok, seriously, lets all cut the guy some slack given the time lag involved. The fighter aircraft he's thinking of were either F-4s or F-8s, and the prop planes were A-1 Skyraiders.

Yup, must have been the Vought F-8 Crusader (a real beast of an airplane, by the way) and F-4 Phantoms. The prop job must have been — as you point out — the A-1 Skyraider, which carried a hell of a lot of ordnance for such a small (relatively speaking) airplane.
