Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich brought his campaign to Memorial Hall in downtown Dayton today. He ended his remarks to a packed crowd around 3:40 p.m.
After the event, Gingrich and his wife Callista are visiting Hawthorn Hill, the Oakwood home once owned by Orville Wright.
Thanks for the report! How was the audience response?
He is expected here in Columbus this evening. We plan to be there.
Didn’t attend, but WHIO said that it was an overflow crowd.
Keep on going, Newt. Your message is strong and the right one. I am praying you can stop Romney with the other states to vote (their help in doing that) People just need to wake up and take back their country for reforms. It is not too late to say No, to the ruling parties.
Great crowd response.
Several standing ovations.
Several folks yelled out liberal when Romney’s name was mentioned
Newt really played well to the crowd.
A couple of Paul supporters were escorted out...that being said they didn’t cause any trouble
He made a very good point about his space talk.
He said JFK spoke of going to the moon within the decade when he was President. Newt said it speaks to the lack of vision in the candidates that couldn’t even envision a more permanent moon base almost 50 years later. He also talked about how this would not be financed with additional NASA money. He used the example of the Wright Bros and Kettering. He contrasted their accomplishments with the govt. enabled Smithsonian pursuit at manned flight which was a failure.
Crowd was definitely overflowing. There were at least two to three people on every stair step on the sides of the room. People were forced to stand outside the doors to hear.
Newt making a move on Ohio ping!!!
WOO-HOO!
WONDERFUL photo! Thank you.
He needs a win. Pick the biggest state with good poll numbers and GO FOR IT. Tell the people what faces America if we don’t turm the ship around and tell them you’ll DO IT.
Newt did good. Local TV said the crowd was large and people were waiting in line. One dumb A** local reporter said he ‘didn’t talk about jobs’.... good heavens the media is so lame. Go Mr. Newt!!
He talked extensively about rebuilding the manufacturing base and innovation. If the reporter didn’t understand him, I don’t know what to say. To me, it was clear as a bell.
Newt should be able to take Ohio....lots of conservatives there and rural people. If he did good in Dayton that’s fabulous as it’s a tough city. I use to live about 45 minutes north of there. Not sure about Columbus but if I remember right they are more liberal there.
GO NEWT!!!!!!!! Goooooooo gooooo goooo goooo!!!!!!!!
Ohio is having a rough time with the manufacturing industry there...what Newt shared is exactly what they want to hear about. I use to live about 45 minutes above Dayton....Ohio is hurting pretty bad as they watched one manufacturing company after another leave.
The reporter is stupid for not understanding that.
Excellent! Thanks for the info.
