Karl Rove sees politics written all over Clint Eastwood's new Chrysler ad and even compares it to "Chicago-style politics."
"I was, frankly, offended by it," Rove said on Fox News Monday. "I'm a huge fan of Clint Eastwood, I thought it was an extremely well-done ad, but it is a sign of what happens when you have Chicago-style politics, and the President of the United States and his political minions are, in essence, using our tax dollars to buy corporate advertising and the best-wishes of the management which is benefited by getting a bunch of our money that they'll never pay back."
The ad aired during the Super Bowl, and

Clint Eastwood is now a minion.
gotta love it.
Eastwood’s voice sounds terrible.
Or as my 2.5 year old daughter would say:
EEE! Bah!
Bee Bee Bee Bee Bee! (stabbing her finger at the TV)
The only thing that ad convinced me of, is how strongly I feel about America, the American spirit and that the message in that ad spoke to the very heart of what America is and should be.
They may have tried to propagandize it, but it touched me, because that message was a great message and knowing Eastwood is not an Obama supporter, just made me think it might have been a message to those who oppose him.
If anything, we need more encouraging, go get em, locker room rally speeches that pump up the greatness of America.
But buying a car? Nah....
He’s a leftie, has been for a long long time
Broken blind squirrel clock, finds right nut twice a day?
“You are half right.”
Just matching your wit.
Karl generally offends everyone here at FR, but in this case, I think you would not be offended by his take.
I was so hoping Eastwood would end that commercial with “If only we change the quarterback...”
:(
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- U.S. taxpayers likely lost $1.3 billion in the government bailout of Chrysler, the Treasury Department announced Thursday.
The government recently sold its remaining 6% stake in the company to Italian automaker Fiat. It wrapped up the 2009 bailout that was part of the Troubled Asset Relief Program six years early.
"The fact that the company has done so well -- that they were able to go out and raise private capital to repay us the loan so quickly, is really the big story," said Tim Massad, Treasury assistant secretary for financial stability.
Overall, $1.3 billion will not be recovered from the bankrupt Old Chrysler, but Massad still called it a "major accomplishment."
Thanks for the information, Rove is right once in a while.
The fact that y’alls’ offended....offends me.
Yes, Clint, it is half-time in America and we are behind $16 Trillion to nothing.
I thought your comment was good. I envied you not having to watch the commercials. I don’t think they were very good. I didn’t watch but about 20 minutes of the game. Who gives a flip about football when the country’s going down the wastepipe.
It’s The Two Minute Warning In America, Clint. If We Don’t Score, It’s SUDDEN DEATH.
They asked a man who had gone bankrupt how he had managed to go broke, having had such a large fortune. He said, Two ways: Gradually, then Suddenly.
I am inadvertantly stealing that line. ;o)
Can’t Karl Rove move to France or Russia? Move away from all those evil Christians which he hates.
And to think Clint Eastwood was in a movie called “Gran Torino”. The Gran Torino was a FORD!
Ooooopppss! Slap me upside the head! I just had an epiphany!
Karl Rove is a Party Guy. As such, he is not interested in ideas; he is interested in aggrandizing the power of the GOP party establishment. Which, like the Democrat party establishment, whole-heartedly supports the doctrine that the only good answers to American problems MUST emanate from the government in Washington.
Which of course cuts against the very grain of the Tea Party. Of which I consider myself a devoted member as a constitutional conservative, social conservative, and fiscal conservative who passionately values my God-given (and constitutionally-guaranteed) Liberties as an American citizen.
I used to regard Karl Rove and Ann Coulter, too as my allies. But no longer.
Anyhoot, I LOVED Clint Eastwood's ad. He was speaking straight out of core American values and principles. He was reminding us of who we are, as Americans we, the posterity of We the People with such resonant gravitas.
And if Clint sells a few Chryslers along the way, I won't mind.
Great post, ColdOne! Thank you so very much!
