Rasmussen: Obama job approval among uncommitted voters at 20%; Update: Obama 44, Santorum … 45 ?
Hot Air ^ | February 3, 2012 | Ed Morrissey

Some have suggested that Republicans could nominate a syphilitic camel in 2012 and still beat Barack Obama. (Hey, I’m willing to hear the camel out; what’s his position on taxes?) That sounded like hyperbole until Scott Rasmussen released this video today, discussing the internals of his head-to-head matchups in weekly tracking polls. Mitt Romney now ties Obama 45/45 in the latest three-day cycle, but the uncommitted voters — 420 respondents, 12% of their sample — have a distinctly sour take on the President:

the insiders are getting more and more worried about Gingrich, they are desperately trying to prop up Santorum to keep him in the race just long enough for Romney to wrap things up, at which point they will discard Santorum like used toilet paper.

The point is that almost any Republican can win, so why vote in a left of center RINO or a candidate that is all over the place with his positions?

Contents of not just my full septic tank, but the leaching bed as well works for me. Would do TRILLION$ less damage than the Usurper in there now.

[not only that, but if my choice was actually President now, it wouldn't even take up any space in the white house! It would just OCCUPY the location of the current presidential vegetable garden]

Just like I've been saying. Things will be so bad by election day that the Republicans could nominate Elmer Fudd and win.

Conservatives are getting more and more worried about Gingrich, every legitimate indicator shows that he would be defeated by Obama. Conservatives are desperately trying to get a conservative who can beat Obama, Rick Santorum, to be the Republican nominee.

I support Newt, but I am starting to see it may be true he has some personality issues (not talking about adultery). His personality was GREAT in the debates BEFORE he started attacking the other candidates, and only attacked Obama’s policies. He will not beat Obama if Obama appears nicer. It is sad to say, but I believe that.

“Some have suggested that Republicans could nominate a syphilitic camel in 2012 and still beat Barack Obama.”

I’d prefer a syphilitic camel to Obama. I also prefer Mitt Romney to Barack Obama. That’s one depressing dilemna. Choosing between Mitt Romney is like choosing between heartburn and a heart attack. A person can survive heartburn but a heart attack usually kills. I don’t think that the United States can live through a second Obama term.

There would have to be a massive change in public opinion for Gingrich to be perceived as nicer than Obama. Gingrich is consistently seen as the least likeable Republican candidate and Obamas "likeability" ratings remain high.

We need to coalesce around Santorum because he has less negatives. And he’s a serious conservative. The gay agenda folks despise him. What are we waiting for? Newt will always be smarter but he can’t beat Obama. Let’s switch to Santorum.

Is that possible? Or if you like newt, you will stay with him regardless?

The issue with your take on that is that Santorum’s support has been shown to split between Romney and Gingrich in hypothetical head to head matchups, while nearly all of Gingrich’s support would go to Santorum if he were to drop out. I’d personally go with Newt if Santorum dropped out, but those results did not surprise me and were about what I expected. Many of Santorum’s supporters will not vote for Newt as they have issues with his past personal baggage. I believe that was a poll for Minnesota’s primary where they did that hypothetical matchup question - Romney had a lead with both of them in the race, with Santorum out Gingrich tied Romney, with Gingrich out Santorum took a double digit lead.

IMO, people don't want nice. Chris Christie is popular mostly because he is willing to be a grade-A jerk and fighter. Geo W Bush was nice, and that was a problem.

ENOUGH ! already of this propaganda political crap talking points.... what ? Polly want a cracker ? repeat what others say because it's their own opinion ? ...
It's all in your opinion and imagination of your own minds because Rick Santorum is not " YOUR GUY " in this race.
