Iran warns world of coming great event Says 'evil hegemony' soon will be defeated by power of Allah
(snip)
Khamenei then claimed the current century as the century of Islam and promised that human history is on the verge of a great event and that soon the world will realize the power of Allah.
(snip)
Mahdi will reappear at the time of Armageddon. Selected forces within the Revolutionary Guards and Basij reportedly have been trained under a task force called Soldiers of Imam Mahdi and they will bear the responsibility of security and protecting the regime against uprisings. Many in the Guards and Basij have been told that the 12th Imam is on earth, facilitated the victory of Hezbollah over Israel in the 2006 war and soon will announce publicly his presence after the needed environment is created.
(snip)
At the same time, his directive to the Guards ordered a speedy completion of the Iranian nuclear bomb program in which Guards missiles can be armed with nuclear warheads.
(snip)
Any Iranian military or commercial vessel easily could get right outside the U.S. coastline and in less than 60 seconds fire a ballistic missile armed with a nuclear payload and detonate it over U.S. skies in an electromagnetic attack that would plunge America back into the 18th century.
(snip)
Studies show within just one year after such an attack, two-thirds of Americans would cease to exist and the rest would live under dire conditions.
(snip)
They truly believe the end of time is here. As revealed last year, the Iranian secret documentary The Coming is Upon Us clearly indicates that the radicals ruling Iran believe the destruction of Israel will trigger the coming of last Islamic Messiah.

There were incidents out west in Las Vegas and in some of the surrounding areas during the testing. There were also bigger problems in the Hawaiin islands with the testing in the pacific of the hydrogen bomb. These were hundreds of miles away from the explosion site. Street lights exploded and some communications equipment was knocked out. As this effect of a nuclear weapon was deemed super secret classified they made no mention of it in the Honolulu Daily.
An underground explosion will create an EMP but its in a small radious maybe 12-15 miles. Supposedly the ones that were exploded above ground out west were mounted on towers. They created an EMP but again since it had no height it was limited to maybe 75 miles or so. The idea is to put a nuclear warhead very high up overhead so that it gets the most spread on the shock wave. Once that shock hits the electrical wires it travels down the wires pickiing up speed and strength as it goes. Thats how the transformers will be knocked out and then when the massive surge comes off the wire and hits your electrical box your wiring is fried.
Perhaps you should do a little more research into the subject for yourself. We are prepared for this possible eventuality but you do not seem to be.
“The solar EMP event in 1989 knocked out power across Quebec and melted transformers in New Jersey.”
The Candian outage of 1989 was a CME of the sun and not an EMP. The two are not even a close similarity, and if you knew the first thing about such matters you wouldn’t have tried to relate the two. A CME is a continuous power load to the electrical system, but EMP is an extremely brief and different kind of disruption.
And exactly how long did it take to replace those Canadian/US transformers? A few years while millions died as claimed will happen with EMP? Nope. A few hours really. Try 9 hours.
Sorry, but your “We’re all going to die!” theory just isnt holding up to logical scrutiny.

Not the military.
The Earths atmosphere density increases at altitude decreases. For example 5 miles up you would quickly die from lack of oxygen. Not that there is not plenty of oxygen 5 miles up, simply that the air is so thin you can’t breathe enough of it to keep you alive. This is not complicated stuff. Also remember that the inverse square law does not apply since the “pulse” is following magnetic field lines and not a normal straight line path. Think about it and you will get the concept in time.
/johnny knows EVERYTHING /just ask him /or don’t /he’ll tell you anyway
And both are about induced voltages, regardless of the rise time, PRF, or pulse duration.
It's all about overvoltage effects on devices. Microcircuit transistor junctions are much more sensitive than my old 6146 transmitter tubes.

“Basic common sense will dictate what EMP really is. You dont need a PhD in electrical engineering or physics to ask simple questions that completely and totally debunk the myth that is EMP”
Pour a bucket full of pork rinds down there, that should get him out.
“Purportedly there are EMP WEAPONS IN SPACE that make such doings much easier and more selectable than the nuke blast type”
Purportedly, but not factually. We are signatories to the space treaty that prohibits weapons in space called “Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies” (Silly name but that’s what it was called in 1967.) Specifically, United States Code Title 18 Section 7 places US space vehicles under such control, and all other countries that have launched space vehicles have also signed onto the treaty. The US Air Force maintains control over the US treaty and anyone placing weapons of any sort into space would face their fullest capabilities to remove those weapons, not to mention the political fallout and mass media hysteria that would result. There isn’t an object in space that has not been fully analyzed by the DoD for weapons.

Quoting from myself on another thread, and tracing back:
Please reconsider.
As I wrote on this thread:
Try this and the links therein.
From this thread.
Cheers!

Read this and associated links.
All you need is a small fission device: it is the gamma ray flux which causes Compton scattering (electrons knocked out of the atoms / molecules in the upper atmosphere) which travel at relativistic speeds, and interact with the Earth's magnetic field.
The design of the bomb, and the casing, can enhance the proportion of the weapon's energy which is released as gamma radiation: and by designing the case properly one can focus the gamma rays "downward" to the ground.
A fission weapon, according to these sources, will still be quite a good source of EMP: it is not directly a function of notional yield.
Cheers!
“isnt everything connected to long wires?”
Not that long. EMP survival types claim EVERYTHING is going to melt, from watches, to cell phones, to car computers, and even our toasters. At most a signal could be introduced that confuses a computer or electronic device and causes it to temporarily malfunction. Reboot, or turn it off and on again, and all is well. They won’t melt. There simply isn’t that much energy in an EMP to do that.
Even that massive CME in 1989 that caused the northeastern power outage was massively larger than any EMP can be and all it did was blow a few transformers that were fixed within hours. No one’s cell phone melted. No watches exploded. No cars became disabled. And certainly not 70%-90% died from it.
“We are prepared for this possible eventuality but you do not seem to be.”
Go ahead, prepare for an asteroid strike, too, if you want. I couldn’t care less, but this hysteria of ignorance about EMP is as annoying as it is to listen to the global warming nitwits.
Old microwave ovens are good faraday cages.
Bless you my Brother Quix, it’s always good to hear from you!
Get rid of those two items, close up the holes, and ground it, and it would be great.
