....and then, when the election is lost, the establishment and Mr. Rove will of course blame Newt, for everything!!

The masses vote for whoever the pollsters and commentators tell them. This is why we are doomed

It’s ironic that the South is now our last hope for preserving the Union... I hope to God they prevail.

This is not very comforting. Remember Lord Acton’s dictum: “At all times sincere friends of freedom have been rare, and its triumphs have been due to minorities, that have prevailed by associating themselves with auxiliaries whose objects differed from their own.”

The minority who are sincere friends of freedom in our day are backing Gingrich by a large margin. That will not win either the nomination or the election.

[”It is not over. In 1976 Reagan didn’t start winning till N. Carolina.”
It’s over. I support Newt, but he’s no Ronald Reagan. Besides, Reagan had a superb inner circle. Newt doesn’t even have a ‘circle’, let alone an ‘inner’ one, and a good one. His staff is terrible, and he’s getting horrible advice on campaign ads. It’s over, unless Sarah Palin gets in with the full support of the Tea Party organizations.]

*********************************************************

Well, I didn’t think it would be easy. Washington and his rag tag group didn’t have much going for him either. If God chooses to use Newt to help restore our nation, it will happen one way or the other. If he doesn’t, then even if Newt and his campaign was perfect it wouldn’t matter. With God all things are possible.

The problem is that the elite in Washington (they belong to both parties) don’t really CARE which of the two - Romney or Obama - is elected. As long as they can keep the status quo and keep their pockets lined, and their contributors happy they are satisfied. Most of them really DON’T have any principles, or true public servant mindset at all. The most dangerous are those like Obama (for instance) who are so absorbed in their own fantasies that they pave the way for others who are much smarter, and even more devious (people who are two-faced like Romney).

With either Romney or Obama we will get the same results. Romney will NOT do anything about Obamacare, the only thing Mitt would do differently is stop hounding the “rich”. But, that in itself is what will do us in - we will be handing Obama the re-election with Romney as the “plastic rich white guy” candidate.

Things are getting pretty bad all the way around. It’s not over by a long shot, but the way things progress this year will seemingly determine the overall path this country will take - kind of like a line that will have been crossed. There is no pretending after this, IMHO.

Amen USAF Freeper. I am the 13%. Our house voted Santorum. Very difficult to comprehend the Newt love going on here. Santorum is the only candidate able to take on Obama. If all the nootbots here would help rally around the ONLY conservative, he’d be a lot higher than 13%. To think Newt has a prayer is to delude oneself beyond belief. Don’t let ‘em get you down! Go Santorum!

Thanks ! Your nickname says all . If it resumes the profile of
Santorum’s supporters....Then you are on a very bad path.

If your homophobia is genetic it means that you are not free and then the contrary of a free conservative.

Phobia is a disease and genetic is not your choice but a data

Our Founders took for granted that the masses were blind and devised a system which allowed for that. Those safeguards have been progressively undermined and neutered by democratization and growth of federal power. In my mind the decisive turn came when Hamilton was destroyed by the media of that day and the Jeffersonians. That set us firmly on the road to demagoguery, media manipulation and mass ignorance ruling.

Not only does “conservatism” NOT win every time in much of the country it has NO chance of winning at ANY time.

We cannot elect a conservative to statewide office to save our lives. And when one who is a conservative somehow gains and office he is immediately attacked by truer conservatives like he is LBJ, BJ and BO all rolled into one. Look at how Guiliani was attacked in 08.

Nor do we rally to the support of those under intense RAT media and union attack. Look at Gov. Walker in Wisconsin.

Gov. Perry's campaign's destruction was self-imposed but the Long Knives were out for him here ever ready to eviscerate him and paint probably the most conservative governor in the country outside Wisconsin as just another liberal or worse yet the dreaded RINO.

It is almost impossible for conservatives to unite. Nothing is easier than for the Left to divide us and make us turn against our people making our enemies victories much easier.

You didn’t get the memo? “Santorum” is code for “Romney” now. “Newt” is code for “baseball, hotdogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet.” Now try and say something bad about apple pie - even if it’s a philandering apple pie.

Look, I like Newt, I appreciate what he did in the 90s, I was still active duty though when he and Clinton gutted teh services. My one shop, went from 12 people to 3, getting time off was not a luxury we had.

Newt is damaged goods. We put him up, we lose. thats all. The only thing worse would be a Ron Paul candidacy.

Newt started mud slinging first and his robo call about the kosher food was way over the line of decency. Look I like Newt and his brain power needs to be harnessed, just not as President.

I believe, as a Georgia resident even, Newt supporters are delusional. We nominate him, Obama doesnt even bother to campaign, they just start showing youtube clips of Newt.

Nope, sorry, I don’t. I am not even a social values voter I am more fiscal and defense. As a Catholic who is told by “born again” Christians I am going to hell because I am a Catholic? Well, I guess I can see how they can be such hypocrites.

And the last person to use that quote was Jimmah Carter, perhaps you should consider that before tossing it out for another guy from Georgia.

Careful. You’ll attract the attention of the Zot Patrol. They seem to be getting their way.

I’m only saying this if you’re interested in remaining. If not, go for it.

A local radio guy here in LA said that there was a poll that showed 51% of Florida Republicans described themselves as moderates. Only 29% said they were Conservatives.

71% describe themselves as conservatives, 26% as moderates, and about 1% as liberals. Source

The headline "Among TRUE CONSERVATIVES, NEWT TAKES IT AT 46%, ROMNEY LAST AT 11%" is deceptive. These are people who say "true conservative credentials" are the deciding factor. That's a smaller subgroup of those who consider themselves conservatives, though you might not think so sometimes.

Even in the secular way of thinking, repentence is the bedrock concept of what needs to happen for a person to be forgiven by his fellow man. You don’t have to be an evangelical Christian to understand this.

Don’t miss the point. Gingrich is rehabilitated.

(And please don’t underestimate the influence of the Holy Scripture on society.)

without the Conservative base no GOP candidate can win. The only one that will "get" the Conservative base is Newt.

The youtubes of Newt will not matter at all. People will be worried about the smothering government Leviathan.

People want someone to turn our Republic towards Liberty. Newt is getting stronger with his message every day. Most conservatives at now in Newt's corner.

People will easily see that the fraudulent Mitt would do absolutely nothing to roll back government. Mitt is a rabid Statist and has no way to get the base ever excited about him. Mitt would be utterly crushed (and rightfully so) by Obama.
