I came home and was totally bummed by the results so far. I looked for anything on FR to cheer me up. Finally I succumbed and went to the former-other favorite website Drudge and begrudgingly clicked on the 'Landslide' article - blah blah blah and there, at the very bottom - I found my glimmer of hope: In a positive sign for Gingrich, exit polls showed evangelical voters trending for the former House speaker. The exit polls showed Gingrich with 40 percent among that group, and Romney with 36 percent.
But the margin was wider for Romney among seniors and Hispanics. Half of the seniors polled were supporting Romney, while 35 percent backed Gingrich. Romney also led Gingrich 56-29 percent among Hispanic voters, the largest minority in the state, exit polling showed.
Voters overwhelmingly went for Romney among those who said winning in November is the most important quality in a Republican nominee. But for voters who valued "true conservative" credentials as their top quality, Gingrich led with 46 percent, followed by Santorum at 26 percent and Paul at 16 percent. Among those voters, Romney was last with 11 percent.

A local radio guy here in LA said that there was a poll that showed 51% of Florida Republicans described themselves as moderates. Only 29% said they were Conservatives.
If thats true, Newt never had a chance.
This is immensely encouraging
If Rush tells us to support Romney to make sure that Obama doesn’t win, we’ll know he has really jumped the shark.
You are probably having trouble finding posts cuz we are all engrossed in watching Fashion Police on E. At least I am. :-)
It’s over. If Gingrich can’t win a major state like Florida, he won’t win the nomination. And I voted for Gingrich.
Well, it would be if evangelicals were a majority in the country
but they aren’t
so it isn’t
Limbaugh has said he wants the fight to go on for months.
He has said he will vote for whoever is the nominee in November.
I used to feel that way but I will not vote for Romney, ever.
I hope not. But, if Romney wins the primary, Obama likely wins the general.
We true conservatives need to devise a strategy for November. I just heard Mittens say that he will have a united party at the National Convention in August. I take huge exception to that.
It is NOT over, Alma. Not by long stretch.
This was a winner take all state. The next primaries are proportional ... Newt can run up delegates as fast as Mitt.
If Santorum drops out, that could shake things up. If Newt changes his game any, that could change things up. Newt is up nationally and up with high margins in some states.
This is an ETERNITY in politics until the nomination!!
Gingrich is not leaving the race.
A candidate needs over 1000 delegates and Romney has about 75, there is a long way to go.
Interestingly, that episode of Happy Days was on one of my Direct TV stations this evening.
I turned the channel. (But it brought back dumb memories. :>)
We need to send a SERIOUS nessage to all RINOs. Supporting them blindly against Obama will get us bupkis in the end.
Interesting that Gingerich took almost all of the “old Florida” counties right up through the center of the state from the Everglades north across the Panhandle. Many of those counties called “cracker” country by the LSM. The conservative base holds. Just not enough of us in the big city population areas of transplanted yankees.
This isn’t over until someone wins 1,050 delegates.
And if its Romney, I ain’t voting
Which proves what Ive been saying..true conservatives will NOT vote for Romney in the general election, it will be just like 2008, McCain didnt get enough Conservative votes and neither will Romney, gee you would have thought people would have learned their lesson by now and stop nominating liberals with R’s next to their name
The fact that evangelical “true” conservatives could even consider Newt shows how huge a hypocrites they are. This man has cheated on two women that we know of while flaming Clinton.
Before you start yelling that I am a Mittens guy, I am not I like Santorum. Newt is toxic and would suffer the worst defeat in a presidential election ever. I know many good conservatives in my circle who would stay home if he were the nominee.
A lot of Conservatives didn’t vote in the primary. Do you remember who elected Reagan? Conservative Democrats.
Not so, read post 14.
Florida is at least 65% retired Massholes running away from Estate taxes. 6 Months and 1 day of residency is all it takes per year. They come back here and vote twice.
If FLA wants to be a true “bellweather” state, they’ll knock of all of this early voting crap and require actual citzenship.
New Yawkahs do the same in spades... they are the truly deranged, nasty “committed” Lieberals.
