Read Republicans should stay out of the bedroom - unless they’re supporting leftist causes.

well since he plays for the other team. probably explains much.

We have a mormon candidate who advocated for homosexual anything goes marriage. His faith had to outlaw polygamy to have utah become a state.

By advocating anything goes marriage, as he has, polygamy becomes legal.

Romney’s faith is not the issue, his lack of support for the federal marriage amendment and DOMA is the issue. Logic, not blind faith, establishes the societal benefit of normal marriage.

Mehlman is just a DC insider who should never have had the job or any job in DC.

In Seattle, "gay marriage" has already been expanded to marrying buildings .

I honestly had no idea how stupid this guy is.

“If we believe in limited government, how can we justify expanding the authority of the state to take away this most personal, fundamental right?”

Marriage isn’t a human right. It’s an institution. Love is a right. No one is prohibiting same sex love.

Well, it’s clear we’ve been doing a lousy job of making clear the relationship between morality and liberty; and perhaps an even worse job of publicly defending the notion of a non-state civil society.

Every idiot who asserts that the state arrogating to itself the purported authority to change the nature of a natural non-state institution that pre-existed any nation state (in this case marriage) is an expansion of liberty deserves to be b*tch-slapped, if not physically, at least rhetorically.

“Sixty-two percent of New Hampshire voters oppose taking away the right to marry.”

Granted that while I only live here, along with my wife, I can’t see that the right to marriage is in any way compromised by anyone.

All here may marry, if they can find a person of the opposite willing to do so.

But marriage has a very specific meaning, and it shouldn’t be misconstrued to sanction perversion(s). It doesn’t, and can’t be made to do so.

Former RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman Comes Out: I'm Gay

"Mehlman arrived at this conclusion about his identity fairly recently, he said in an interview. He agreed to answer a reporter's questions, he said, because, now in private life, he wants to become an advocate for gay marriage and anticipated that questions would be asked about his participation in a late-September fundraiser for the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER), the group that supported the legal challenge to California's ballot initiative against gay marriage, Proposition 8.

"It's taken me 43 years to get comfortable with this part of my life," Mehlman said. "Everybody has their own path to travel, their own journey, and for me, over the past few months, I've told my family, friends, former colleagues, and current colleagues, and they've been wonderful and supportive. The process has been something that's made me a happier and better person. It's something I wish I had done years ago."

The party of Lincoln and Reagan should stand first and foremost for freedom.

Lincoln and Reagan, and their party, are for freedom. They are just not for undermining the foundations of civilization.

Oh, Ken. You left out TR. He would have been for this too.

“Live Free or Die” isn’t just the official motto for a great state. As the 62nd Republican National Committee Chairman, I think it’s a mantra our party should live by. I hope that New Hampshire legislators will remember this slogan and reject proposals to strip citizens of their right to marry.

This fellow must have flunked basic biology 101.

He is apparently unaware that sexual union between male/male and female/female partners can only be achieved by means of perverted and risky behavior to the physical and mental health of the participants and the population. Clearly the Chairman is willing to ignore basic science and put public safety at risk in order to reward his misguided ideas of equality, and to please his homosexual donors, IMO.

Because Reagan did not support banning homosexuals from teaching in California, they misrepresent his position on gay marriage and other gay "rights." Here's what he said about those other gay "rights".
"Society has always regarded marital love as a sacred expression of the bond between a man and a woman. It is the means by which families are created and society itself is extended into the future. In the Judeo-Christian tradition it is the means by which husband and wife participate with God in the creation of a new human life. It is for these reasons, among others, that our society has always sought to protect this unique relationship. In part the erosion of these values has given way to a celebration of forms of expression most reject. We will resist the efforts of some to obtain government endorsement of homosexuality."

"My criticism is that [the gay movement] isn’t just asking for civil rights; it’s asking for recognition and acceptance of an alternative lifestyle which I do not believe society can condone, nor can I."

These quotes clearly shows that his opposition to banning homosexuals from teaching DID NOT extend to 1) teaching about homosexuality in school 2) proselytizing homosexuals 3) government promotion of homosexuality or 4) gay marriage

So its a freedom issue?
Well Mr Mehlman
What about a guy and 2 women or 2 women a guy? Shouldn’t they have freedom also?
How about a brother and sister? Shouldn’t they have freedom too?
How about a man and a boy? What? You say no because that is a crime? Well not too many years ago sodomy was a crime.....

Instituting “gay marriage” is Big Government telling people that they have to endorse and subsidize gay unions.
