The problem is that the last two debates were not “debates” - the reason Newt shone in SC is that he was able to direct the discussion onto the issues. These were basically personal attacks on Gingrich launched by Romney (and Santorum) and supported by the moderators. Should he have been more prepared for that?

Yes, but at the same time, he got a lot of criticism for the the Super-PAC ads in response to Romney’s attack ads on him in Iowa and SC, and was being depicted in the press as “angry” and “explosive.” This seems to be far from the truth, but I think it was kind of a no-win situation.

That said, his addresses at campaign and civic events in Florida were excellent, and I think did a lot to overcome the debate problem.

Possibly. However, Romney spent $20 million here in FL, and I don’t think it’s going to get him the huge win he needs. He has no doubt spent a lot in the other states, too, but I get the distinct feeling that people are getting tired of his shrill personal attacks on Gingrich and they are losing their impact.

Romney’s biggest problem is that the more people know him and know about him, the less they like him. He has gotten as far as he did by avoiding scrutiny, being vague about his positions, and launching personal attacks to cover his deficiencies. But that can’t go on forever, and since Florida has lost half of its votes because of its early primary date, there is still a chance for Gingrich to pull ahead in other states. This would be time consuming and would give people time to realize how much they don’t like Mitt Romney.

Mitt Romney cannot beat Obama.

Not after the Republican party has torn itself asunder.

The Republicans have already lost and do not know it.

The leadership has failed to lead. We will be lucky to keep the House, We may be able to take the Senate, but that will not be so great either since even as the majority republicans will continue to kiss Democrat ass like they did last time they had the majority.

Correct Sarge. And I will NOT vote for these pukes any longer! Watch out for his VP choice. I see him picking some stooge Conservative to ‘balance’ the ticket and bring the Tea Party back in panting!

“Since when did one of the GOP’s biggest losers become its senior statesman anyway?”

I think this speaks to the sorry state that the Republican party is in now, and has been for some time.

McStain has confirmed what we already knew that the peoples votes in the primary is a rigged joke. Your vote means nothing and working within the party for change is a myth perpetuated by the liberals to keep themselves in charge. It’s not going to change.

I am an optimist in most cases but in regards to the political parties, there is optimism and then there is fools gold.

And has been for 4 years. The whole primary season is a charade to give the bubbas the illusion that they have a choice.

Listen, you and I both know that the IF Sarah had not been the VP choice, McLame would have lost by an additional 20,000,000 votes. No one wanted McCain but my hope was that he would die in office right after taking the Oath. I am not kidding on this. I had one hope in 2008, and that was that McCain kicked the bucket fast if he won.

If Romney picks a RINO of any shape or form for the VP. I predict millions of Conservatives to stay at home and not vote. Watch this bastard though, he may just pull a McCain/Palin lurch to soothe the TP!

If it is Romney, the GOP ends with a whimper:

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

Calla te Juan!

I suspect he’ll pick Santorum for VP. Santorum is an unappealing personality who won’t be any threat to Romney (who is also unappealing, but in a different way), a thoroughgoing member of the DC establishment, and will get Romney the social conservative vote. Santorum is a very ambitious man and would go for it in a heartbeat.

I have heard that Newt has been pulling in the crowds at his events. there may be some sort of “silent majority” type of thing that isnt reflected in the polls and Newt may overperform. I guess we will just have to wait and see the results though i still maintain that whoever wins Florida will most likely be the nominee though even that statement has caveats. If Gingrich ekes out a win or comes in a close second than he will probably be the nominee. If Romney wins big (say around 10 points) then he will probably be the nominee.

For the most part I agree. Only thing I would add here is that Romney will have a distinct monetary advantage allowing him to play harder and in a broader range of territory than Gingrich. If Romney wins by say 10 points in Florida then even more money will flow Romneys way. If it is close than Gingrich can probably cobble together something and make a go of it. We shall see what happens with voting tonight i guess

Yes, I guess there’s really no way of knowing...although I was surprised by how many people, as of yesterday, still claimed they were “undecided.”

I know although to be fair everyone of these candidates has one flaw or another:
Mitt’s are obvious kind of like our RINO version of John Kerry
Newt demonized the Ryan plan and hung out with Pelosi on a couch for Green energy
Santorum endorsed Arlen Specter and lost his own race by something like 17 points
Ron Paul is another one whose flaws need no introduction though he bares a striking resemblance to Magneto from the Xmen movies.
voters look at them and say “thats what i have to choose from”

“But I will not vote for their choice ever again. I will vote for MY choice.” - SG

Good call - this isn’t alice in wonderland -

The winner is the one with the most votes at the end of the process. That is not necessarily the same person who has the most RINO endorsements at the beginning or during the process.

Regards,

well if you know the story why bring it up?
Yes, we're grouchy, and you would be too were you a conservative and were concerned about Willard's assaults on movement conversatives, and you brought up the story, genius. I only pointed out that you had.

at least you can admit my brilliance
seriously though I merely state why Mitt has a good shot at being the nominee
people like you who get overly emotional and assume that its some sort of endorsement shows how truly low brow you can be. I was merely stating an analysis based on the empirical evidence as of the writing
dont like it fine thats your prerogative just dont shoot the messenger

Don’t you just love these RINO’s? Right out of the GOPe’s playbook. Accuse people of being grouchy, emotional losers while claiming to be so above the fray. Actually saw their boy Mittens doing yesterday....making fun of Newt. He also did it in the last debate with Santorum....remember? Nothing to get mad about?? So transparent.
