United States of Propaganda Unleashes Unholy War Against Newt Gingrich
Canada Free Press ^ | 1/29/2012 | Kelly O'Connell

It would be perverse to suggest the recent Matt Drudge-delivered blitzkrieg against Newt Gingrich was anything but a massive, coordinated propaganda campaign to incinerate his candidacy to cinders and ash. Of course, it would also be unfair to insinuate Newt is anything but the father of many of his own current struggles. But, be that as it may, it is hard to see how such a scorched earth policy against a lively and talented Republican with vast leadership experience helps the GOP or harms Obama.

Such propaganda campaigns are not unknown in politics, but are rare in healthy democracies. That such a firebombing maneuver is being waged within the GOP against a viable member in order to transparently benefit Mitt Romney—the most progressive candidate—cannot possibly bode well for the future state of the party or of our union as a whole.

Jacques Ellul wrote one of the great modern works on Propaganda, tapping deeply into the psyche of the masters of political mischaracterization and mass manipulation. He observed one added aspect to the traditional dark arts of the propagandist – making the goal of propaganda the moving adherents towards a mystical ideology and false religion. According to Ellul, the purpose of propaganda is to exhaust man’s freedom, and so to make him directable in all his words, thoughts and deeds. The subject of modern propaganda is the topic of this essay.

In the run-up to the election, the Democrats and their puppets in the media will trash any candidate who isn’t Obama. Nevertheless, it remains one of the stranger facts of the current election cycle that Drudge has thrown in his lot with the Leftists.

Now that Drudge's "page of links" has been finally debunked, he has shown his true colors and will stop being a shrine to lazy conservatives who are looking for someone else to tell them what their opinion is.

I have been to The Drudge Report maybe three times in the past five years...so I'll not miss it a bit. However, some folks think if Drudge doesn't "link it", it didn't happen.

Want it to end? Then quit providing social and familial support to liberals.

Bye bye, life long friend, bye bye, sis. You may love them but they hate you and want you (and me) dead. Walk away or count yourself as complicit.

Just like the Democrats, the Republican Establishment now is relying on what they believe to be the gullibility or ignorance of citizens in order to "form" and/or "mold" public opinion to their will.

"We, the People" may have begun to study our great documents of liberty, the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and despite "progressive" efforts to censor them, a spirit of liberty may be emerging, reminiscent of 1776.

The following is excerpted from Our Ageless Constitution

"Although all men are born free, slavery has been the general lot of the human race. Ignorant - they have been cheated; asleep - they have been surprised; divided - the yoke has been forced upon them. But what is the lesson? ...the people ought to be enlightened, to be awakened, to be united, that after establishing a government they should watch over it.... It is universally admitted that a well-instructed people alone can be permanently free." James Madison

America's Constitution is the means by which knowledgeable and free people, capable of self-government, can bind and control their elected representatives in government. In order to remain free, the Founders said, the people themselves must clearly understand the ideas and principles upon which their Constitutional government is based. Through such understanding, they will be able to prevent those in power from eroding their Constitutional protections.

The Founders established schools and seminaries for the distinct purpose of instilling in youth the lessons of history and the ideas of liberty. And, in their day, they were successful. Tocqueville, eminent French jurist, traveled America and in his 1830's work, DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA, wrote:

".every citizen ... is taught . the doctrines and the evidences of his religion, the history of his country, and the leading features of its Constitution ... it is extremely rare to find a man imperfectly acquainted with all these things, and a person wholly ignorant of them is a sort of phenomenon."

On the frontier, he noted that "...no sort of comparison can be drawn between the pioneer and the dwelling that shelters him.... He wears the dress and speaks the language of the cities; he is acquainted with the past, curious about the future, and ready for argument about the present.... I do not think that so much intellectual activity exists in the most enlightened and populous districts of France' " He continued, "It cannot be doubted that in the United States the instruction of the people powerfully contributes to the support of the democratic republic; and such must always be the case...where the instruction which enlightens the understanding is not separated from the moral education.."

Possessing a clear understanding of the failure of previous civilizations to achieve and sustain freedom for individuals, our forefathers discovered some timeless truths about human nature, the struggle for individual liberty, the human tendency toward abuse of power, and the means for curbing that tendency through Constitutional self-government. Jefferson's Bill For The More General Diffusion Of Knowledge For Virginia declared:

"...experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms (of government), those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny; and it is believed that the most effectual means of preventing this would be, to illuminate...the minds of the people...to give them knowledge of those facts, which history exhibiteth. History, by apprizing them of the past, will enable them to judge of the future...it will qualify them judges of the actions and designs of men; it will enable them to know ambition under every disguise it may assume; and knowing it, to defeat its views.."

-----(End of Excerpt from Our Ageless Constitution)

Defeating the counterfeit ideas of coercive control, whether on the Right or the Left, requires vigilance and a recognition of tactics being used to impose a coercive will for the will of "the People."

You are so right - No political party represents my interests as a conservative Patriot. My govt. now runs my life rather than the other way around. And the Bureaucracies are totally out of control no matter who is in office. Truly time for the pitchforks and laying siege to the Enemies within.

The United States of America in 2012 is not a healthy democracy...or republic.

Senior Citizens should know Romney was a Director of Damon Corporation (quest labs). During his watch, Damon Corporation was found guilty of the largest Medicare Fraud Violation Case of the 1990’s

Medicare is currently insolvent partially because of practices like Romeny’s Damon Corporation

Newt has stated that he was ‘Wilsonian’.

Really. Did he?

He did an interview yesterday at the Awake conference. He said that FDR completed WWII in 3 years and 4(?) months and that was admirable. He spoke about Teddy Roosevelt and San Juan Hill and creating the modern Navy. Don't remember anything about Wilson although he was asked. He said he was not such an ideologue that he cannot recognize good things.

Isn't it interesting how things get twisted and people buy the twist?

You get to be Speaker when you usher in a Republican Revolution after 40 years of Dem control.

I hear you.

I tell people all the time that *I* am a RINO. I’m still a registered Republican, but that’s about it. When leading Republicans endorse and champion bailouts (TARP), government intervention in education and everything else (NCLB), and the best they can give us is John McCain - then the party has abandoned its conservative principles. Or as Ronaldus Maguns said, “the party left me behind”. Thus, I’m a Republican, in name only...

Ann Coulter has also said that “Romney will lose to Obama.”

Gingrich has a record of supporting and implementing the conservative agenda, and Romney of supporting and implementing the progresive agenda so i don’t see how you can argue that Newt is more progressive than Romney! That is just a laughable assertion! Complete and utter BS!

I don’t see Ann Coulter as establishment.

Coulter wanted Chris Cristie to join the race...now she is for Romney...she has a different view than I do.

Great article.

I knew the power the MSM and schools have....McCarthy was destroyed by it-—so was Goldwater to an extent. But back then, there was some truth and integrity in media still. People still went to church. The left did not have total control yet, There still were highly educated people in the Classical sense. The top elite GOP are in with the Leftists now.

The public schools are indoctrination centers just creating vessels for all the leftist propaganda. They don’t teach Classical thinking-—no analytical thinking-—they destroy it by filling kids with lies—on homosexuality, on the Founding Fathers and their intentions, on Columbus and his intentions.....it has been going on actively and in the open since 1970.

So, we have quite a few useful idiots out there-—people who can not think logically. The longer in school—the more illogical.

That is the point. Worldview. Ann is adopting a Leftist worldview by promoting some leftist like Romney. She is supporting the establishment. Obamacare will destroy our freedom and make us all slaves to government—that is why Marxists always go after “health care”.

If they control that, they control life and death—just what they have always wanted in their godless world. Then they just squeeze and destroy their “enemies” and anyone they want. We need freedom from government interference and Romney is for the opposite.

Romney will not repeal obamacare and everyone knows it.

OK but explain how and why Gingrich and Santorum can’t make a deal.

Or why a rather big part of “conservatives” are still envisaging to vote Santorum when N.Gingrich is ahead against Romney....

It’s not to late

"The Obama campaign will destroy Romney. They’re already pounding Bain. "

Just wait until the obscure super-pacs start with the documentaries about magic underwear.

Romney will be annihilated by the commies.

Rightfully so in my book.
