-- My thought is that the Republican elite think Romney could win because he will come off as being more palatable for the Independents, that there will be harsher contrast between Obama and Newt, and the Independents will still be unable to think for themselves given a stark choice and media bias. --

The polls are designed to cause a belief that Romney has a better chance of beating Obama, so the people will prefer Romney over all the other GOP candidates. But there is no way Romney beats Obama, and the GOP doesn't care.

The Republican elite is not harmed by Obama's presidency, it benefits from it. Same (status quo) under Romney. So, from their perspective, Romney is a win-win candidate.

Three guesses who loses.

Mag we have the FOX clip, Jim,Onyx and a few other on the original live thread made sure that the information got out.

As far as pulling my hair out, I was jumpin in and out of my chair screaming trying to get folks attention.

I mentioned on that thread that it either she was one of the dumbest blond in the political service.

OR

She purposely brought attention by mentioning them, that she was reading notes....She stumbled through them...Were they given to her by her Romney handlers?

She also openly bragged about receiving a health care coodinator job from willard. Which opens the entire Blank-O pay for play situation.....

Oh yeah, that’s been the point for the media in all the debates, the leg work for the Obama reelection campaign against any Republican. The media don’t get to substantive issues and the candidates who do can make that distinction, the candidates that follow the media’s lead do the media’s intent for Republicans.

No, Palin was not guaranteed a win, and I say that as someone who advocated her selection as VP in 2008 and was an advocate for her for president from the ‘08 election until Oct 5, when she said she would not run.

Gov. Palin said it herself on Fox Noose last night. She said that if she was in the race, the GOP establishment would be doing to her exactly what it is doing to Newt right now.

Both Palin and Newt are hated by the left, the media and the Vichy GOP (including both moderates and ConservativesLite®).

I was also sure that she would win, but I knew what was in store for her if she had - a long, hard slog which would put a lot more wear and tear on her family, and no guaranteed outcome.

Unlike Sarah, Newt has no small children at home. His kids are all grown up and have families of their own. Three of hers are still in school. Also, she couldn’t have run from Alaska. She would have by necessity had to move to Arizona and run from there. Obviously, she did not want to uproot her family and do that.

Both Newt and Sarah are/would-have-been long shots, but she is guaranteed a major role in his administration if he can somehow beat the long odds and pull a win out of the fire.

Yeah, I was trying to watch some of the Sunday Morning talkshows.

As far as defending ex- Majority Whip Tom DeLay, I had to spend a lot of time on exchanges with FReepers who bought the Democrat Media Smear - partisan misuse of the legal system - and financially break routine, that destroyed Delay (and Gingrich by the way). Some FReepers have a hard admitting the liberals and MSM can fool them. Here’s one thread that involves Terry Mross and KantianBurke vs. ngat defending a true conservative, Tom DeLay. Might be kind of entertaining reading.

I've about decided that they are ALL pretty much the same when it comes to running the country's business. Their main objective is winning reelection so they can keep their cushy jobs with all its perks. The Tea Party folks are our only hope!

Newt has his flaws, but he’s no RINO. That just ludicrous. He’s got a 90% lifetime ACU rating, higher than Santorum’s, which is in the mid-80s, and Paul’s, which is in the low-80s.

Romney is a liberal-leaning moderate, Paul is a libertarian. Santorum is a George W. Bush compassionate conservative, and Newt is a Reagan conservative. If you doubt that Newt is a Reagan conservative, just ask Nancy Reagan, Michael Reagan, Bud McFarlane, Art Laffer, Jeffrey Lord, Thomas Sowell, and a good number of other Reagan conservatives.

Those four who are running are it. Nobody’s getting in, and a brokered convention with some white knight riding in to save the day is pure fantasy. In the unlikely event someone does ride in to break a deadlocked convention, it is most probably going to be another worthless establishment moderate.

That be where were we diverge, I think regardless of who wins the Republican nomination, they will also win the general as the seemingly capped Democrat anxiety(think Carvelle and Cadell) swells underneath the surface, the difference will be to get enough Senate and House seats and carry out a conservative agenda, I see Newt as being more able as the message he has conveyed during this campaign echos well everywhere...

Where IS Bachmann lately? Anywhere in FL, imploring voters not to help bring about Romneycare?
She was going to fight obamacare to her last breath, no?

I don’t fault Palin for not running. Not at all.

I just fault her for waiting so long to declare that she wasn’t. So many of us put our hopes in her so strongly that we were left wandering in the desert for a while.

George Soros: “If it’s between Obama and Romney, there isn’t all that much difference except for the crowd that they bring with them.”

But he acknowledged that a major difference between Romney and Obama would be their potential Supreme Court nominations and their stance on taxation.

“That is the big difference, and that has led my hedge fund community to abandon Obama in favor of any Republican because they don’t like to be taxed,” Soros explained.

So if I'm reading this correctly, SOROS IS BACKING ROMNEY ???

“Early Voting” in FL has helped Romney and hurt the other candidates.

...Romney does not have an integrity issue...

Romney has massive integrity....he is consistently the same. We can with all certainty state that he always has been, and always be....a slimy weasel.
