Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul on Friday flatly denied a Washington Post report that he was deeply involved in the company that produced provocative, racially charged newsletters and that he signed off on articles.
The newsletters from the 1990s have dogged Paul for years, resurfacing as his presidential campaign gained momentum. The Texas congressman has denied writing the inflammatory passages the articles included racial, anti-Semitic and anti-gay content and said that he didn't read them at the time or for years afterward.

And he mentioned several times he was drafted into the US Air Force. The Air Force does not nor ever has - drafted.
Lol.
I remember his antimilitary rant letters about the use of bulldozers and tank plows to clear trenches. He was on the morning talk shows at the time elaborating on his position.
The racial crud is likely the same.
I wonder how fast the Paulbots will attack this thread?

There’s a decent blog I ran across that goes into this claim and it is pretty good.

Doctors are conscripted under a differnet law, the so called “doctor draft”. The Air Force did draft doctors in past wars up to and including Vietnam.

Cool, Paul is polling what 10-20% in the GOP primaries? I think yall are doing a great job of pushing votes to Obama, keep up the good work.
Is Obama the back up plan for Paul voters?
How should I know? Folks that come out in mass and chant "End the Fed" holding hand made signs reading "The Liberal Media Lies" do not strike me as typical Obama voters but hey, that's just me. I would imagine that being vilified (Sarahs' word not mine) by the conservatives in the GOP they will probably do something other then vote GOP, where they are not wanted and Obama whom they apparently don't like. Your guess is as good as mine as to what they do. I just thought winning elections was about building a coalition of like minded, not banishing and ridiculing those you deem less than perfect.
I own a little bar in Texas, and as a Freeper I do retail politics all the time. When talking politics with one of my customers, I try to find common ground, that is pretty easy to do, then once on common ground I tell them how my guy/gals agrees with something my customer supports. I don’t push it. I just plant the seed. When they bitch about whatever I blow that off and go back to finding common ground. It works. Now since I live in a heavily democratic town every now and then the entire bar will be up in arms against republicans, when I yell insults at them as loud as they yell at me. We all have a good time and the bar sells lots of beer. But finding common ground is the key to winning election, yelling and screaming is just having fun. But personal attacks, lies and smears cross the line. Even in heated debates at my bar I don’t go there.
I'm quoting you, is Obama your fallback plan then, since he seems to be the Paulbot second choice, according to you.
If you want common ground, then lay off promoting Paul constantly and help us defeat Romney.
I am not promoting Paul, I am defending Paul just like I defended Sara, Cain and Newt. You only see me making pro Paul posts in Paul bashing threads. Paul is my congress man, I live in his district here in Texas am I do not like seeing him smeared.
I used to live there as well, and grew up in the area, why would you defend him putting out his newsletter?
I like Paul but I like Newt too. I am a small government guy, Newt or Paul that's it, either we win with Newt or Paul or we are screwed. Right now Newt has the Mo, so I am "Go Newt Go!"
Newt is way smarter then the Paul bashers. And Sarah is too. Both Newt and Sarah in their own ways have been reaching out to Paul voters. Read what Sarah has said about Paul, watch the debates where Newt and Paul compliment one another and don't attack each other. It is as plan as the nose on your face that small gov proponents like Newt and Sarah need Paul and his 10-20% of GOP voters. It is not about personalities it is about issues.
Sarah talks about Paul
Youve got to give it to Ron Paul. Whether you agree with everything he says or not, at least he is one there in Congress trying to make our President stick to the law and understand that Congress does have a role to play in these foreign policy decisions that are made and Ron Paul, I think hit the nail on the head, when he came out and said Obama had better be careful when he interjects himself and our country in other nations business.
(Ron Paul) is the only one who has been so adamantly passionate about doing something about the suffocating debt, about doing something about reining in government growth and actually slashing budgets - $1 trillion a year, hes been specific about until we get our hands around this
"The GOP had better not marginalize Ron Paul and his supporters after this, because Ron Paul and his supporters understand that a lot of Americans are war weary and we are broke."
I still sense his desire to be more of an isolated-type country and not be as aware and active on the international scene when it comes to protecting our allies like Israel and doing all that we can. That is my hesitancy there still with Ron Paul's candidacy. However, on the domestic front, he is the only one who has been so adamantly passionate about doing something about the suffocating debt, about doing something about reining in government growth and actually slashing budgets - $1 trillion a year, he's been specific about until we get our hands around this - I respect that. I appreciate it. His austerity measures that he wants to see Congress adopt in order to rein in government and let the private sector actually grow and thrive and hire more people.
You know the endorsement that Im most interested in? Palin asked Bolling. Ron Pauls, to tell you the truth.Hes the one that Americans need to listen to when it comes to dealing in reality about this bankrupt path that we are on, she said.So Ron Pauls endorsement not saying he wont get the nomination, but in case he doesnt who it is that he chooses to endorse will give us a clear indication of who is on the right path with domestic spending that needs to be addressed. Im very interested in hearing what Ron Paul thinks at the end of the day.
I think the news letter deal is a smear, Paul apologized for it, took responsibility for it but say he did not write it. That is good enough for me. I can post the interview if you like.
I am not a national politician talking on TV and running for office where annoying the wacky fringe people is not wise unless you have to do it.
I am here at freerepublic, and as stormfront knows since I have seen my name over there (stormfront despises freerepublic), we don’t have to pretend to like the racist, nutball, con man, Ron Paul.
I detest con men and those who exploit the weak and those susceptible to cultish leadership.
There are many common reasons that I dislike Mitt Romney and Ron Paul.
Paul is a liar, there is no doubt that he wrote his newsletters, and as soon as he is no longer useful to the left, then the media will quit letting him play innocent.
There has never been any truth to Paul’s bald face lying about his newsletters. We covered this years ago here at freerepublic.
If Paul allowed his name to be put on a publication without knowledge of what was being put in that publication, it shows he is irresponsible and not a good choice for president.
If he knew what was being published, and didn’t make a move to stop it, then he was tacitly approving it.
If he is lying now, which I suspect, then that is a problem as well.
There is no way to spin this so it doesn’t make Paul look bad, and considering some of his more recent anti-Semitic, pro-terrorist statements, that supports the idea that he had full knowledge and also fully approved the objectionable content.
As good as he is on fiscal matters, Paul should never be president, nor will I ever vote for him.
God's gift to us is a chance to be with Him in heaven. The only thing that matters here on Earth is that you use this time to gain entry into the Kingdom of Heaven. Do not bare false witness, please I beg of you, don't.
Anyone dumb enough to vote for Paul will probably vote for Obama, anyway. You would have to be that stupid!
