Unbeknownst to the press, President Obama met this evening with former president George H.W. Bush and his son, former Florida governor Jeb Bush in the Oval Office.
White House officials did not list the meeting on the president's schedule but released a photo through Flickr and Twitter.
According to the date and time stamp on the photo, it was taken shortly after 5 p.m. That's about the time Obama returned to the White House from a fundraiser at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
White House officials did not immediately respond to questions about the subject of the meeting and its exclusion from Obama's public schedule.
Jeb Bush has played a critical role in the GOP primary contest in Florida -

While the USSR finally fell during Bush’s term, it was Reagan’s policies, which to Bush’s credit he continued, that caused it. Before Reagan, no one, not even Bush, was talking about the crazy idea of actually taking the fight right to the Soviets. Everyone in both parties was in love with the detente, mutually-assured destruction garbag.

Can't we just be friends initiative Let's stop all this fighting (you bible clingers) and lets just get along (you Christian, gun owning terrorist)
Obama going to claim he does not want all the political fighting (as he watches Newt & Romney go at it) makes him look like the nice guy that he is not.
This isn’t the first time this threesome has met.
Does anyone remember or know what was the outcome of the previous visit(s)?
Not yet, but with the way Jeb has been slamming Newt in Florida this week, maybe I should be...
“He is a WW2 hero, dismantled the Soviet Union and freed Eastern Europe (happened in his presidency), defeated Sadaam, etc.”
Good for you. Many here can’t see the forest for the trees- to put it kindly.
“My question to you is this: After Obama has trashed and blamed W for nearly all the problems in the world, why would the old man Bush agree to be in the same room as Obama? “
I honestly don’t know. I suspect that GHWB doesn’t want the truth coming out about his traitorous past. So he’s playing all his chips that obuma can win re-election and cover for him. In other words, he doesn’t care about his son. It wouldn’t be the first time in history that the father tried to sacrifice his son for his own selfish benefit.
We live in very dark times.
“Is the Old Man in a wheelchair?”
Sadly, yes. I was at his Presidential Library a few months ago, and the person giving us our introductory presentation mentioned that Bush Sr. is confined to a wheelchair.
By the way, the library is great - better than Reagan’s, in my opinion.
No, that's some dead rapper.
Trying to remember here, but didn’t it have something to do with 2008 when Obama was still a candidate and the economy was going to hell in a hand basket and Goldman Sachs demanded $700 billion of our taxpayer money? Maybe I’m thinking of Bush and Paulson and Obama working together to stick it to McCain, with Romney talking McCain out of opposing the bailouts.
No, that's a tricycle.
Rather than hurling insults like a clueless liberal, make your case that what I said is wrong.
That’s what’s expected here at FR.
“The former president appears in a wheel chair. He is a WW2 hero, dismantled the Soviet Union and freed Eastern Europe (happened in his presidency), defeated Sadaam, etc. It appears he is ill and was brought there by Jeb as a courtesy bc some illness is about to be announced. I wish those who called him traitor and other obnoxious comments to go straight to hell. He is an absolute patriotic American hero and a fine man.”
I am TOTALLY with you. Let’s give Bush Sr. a break - sure he wasn’t Reagan, but he fought for and loved this country, and was not terrible, by any means. He’s also a great guy, and very, very, funny.
What about all the earthquakes and hurricanes that happened during your heroes presidency? He deserves credit for those too, doesn’t he? And traffic accidents.
Communism fell thanks to heroes Reagan and Thatcher and Lech Walesa. The Bushes had nothing to do with it!
George Bush the Elder is responsible for “Read my lips, no new taxes” and then backtracking on that promise to the conservatives.
GHWB is an Northeast Liberal Republican and got weak in the knees whenever the Democrats said “Boo”.
You have articulated it best.
Obama was already inaugurated, six months at the most I think.
“My question to you is this: After Obama has trashed and blamed W for nearly all the problems in the world, why would the old man Bush agree to be in the same room as Obama? As a father, I would be furious with this smarta$$ punk. Its suspicious to me. I think Obama and the Bushes are closer politically than many people realize.”
Exactly! We will NEVER know the answer to this but isn’t it just beyond sickening to see? I cannot articulate how disgusted I am...really.
This is way too obvious for the Establishment. They usually try to cover up the one party system during elections.
They are all backing their guys - Romney and Obama, both of whom are have been picked by the globalists/corporatists/ banksters. How are we goin’ fool em next, Jeb?
It also could be about trying to coordinate the GOP elitists’ response to Obama’s constitutional qualification problem in Georgia. The Rinos are as exposed in this conspiracy of treason as are their friends across the aisle.
The bush family are again showing themselves to be chameleons and snakes.
More likely trying to work out coordinating the response to the Georgia court constitutional qualification problem Obama is having. Who do you guys know in Georgia who can make this court case go away?
It will be interesting to see how rabid the GOP goes when confronted by the “brithers” with real legal problems during the primary. I imagine Georgia is the first of many problems they will face.
