Near the end of his January 23rd radio program, Rush Limbaugh was asked by a caller what Rick Santorum could do to turn things in his favor. Limbaugh, granting that he likes Santorum, advised only that he should stop talking about himself, and start acting like a conservative. His point seemed to be that Santorum ought to spend less of his precious microphone time explaining himself and his record, and instead focus on articulating conservative ideas aimed at changing Americas direction. Though reasonable enough in itself, Limbaughs advice seems to overlook the special problem facing Santorums campaign, the problem which has created his feeling of needing to speak up on his own behalf: No one wants him around anymore.
As I have previously detailed the cynical use made of Santorum during the lead-up to Iowapropped up at the last minute as a temporary substitute for the falling Newt Gingrich, in order to squeeze out the serious constitutionalist campaign of Michele Bachmannwe need not go through all those ugly details again. We might, however, ask a few questions in the aftermath of that debacle:

Ping!
He’s got my vote in Michigan.
Its either that or skipping the presidential slot on the ballot.
Same here in Pennsylvania, but with our Primary not until April 24 it isn’t as though my vote will make much difference ‘til then.
The scenario is a possibility, but not likely to be a probability.
That caller was a nut. He claimed because Newt thought that kids should learn about a work enviroment such as a janitorial job it was akin to Newt being a big government job supporter. The guy was a wacko. GO NEWT GO!
A vote for Rick who is now down in the 8-11% polling range in Florida is simply a vote for Willard.
GO NEWT!
Santorum was my 3rd and final choice.
BTW, have you noticed that the old mantra “Congressmen can’t win” seems to have fallen out of fashion since Gingrich is a frontrunner?
Because Newt wasn’t just a congressman. He was voted and served as Speaker, the constitutionally elected leader of the House of 435 representatives and 2nd in line to the presidency after the vice president. Not just a congressman.
I agree.
That caller was a Willardist who was using Santorum as a cover..which some do even here so they can diss Newt.
At the end Rush caught on when the caling troll said he’s NOT voting Republican if Newt’s the nominee - after Rush pressed him.
GO NEWT!
Exactly.
So when are they going to get this primary business settled here in Texas?
I don’t believe they have it settled yet since Holder and his people have usurped the process.
By all means it is high time we begin to hear just how these candidates plan to restore America, point by point.
As an aside, it is imperative that we also vote out ALL the old timers who have brought us to this pretty pass, and elect true conservatives, then invoke term limits to Congress.

I’m rootin’ for Rick. But in VA my only choices are Romney and Paul. I’ll be casting a Paul-in-protest vote.
Agreed. We're at the point where we need to institute term limits. There are too may career Congressmen in office that won't do what it's necessary to turn things around.
Yeah whatever.
You guys really got hosed over in Virginia. In Texas, Holder has our primary hostage right now with all this redistricting mess.
