Until next week, or when the Corn oil Lobby sends more money to researchers.
I won’t buy any product that has cottonseed oil in it.
Funny thing is you find cottonseed oil in a lot of cookies, crackers, pies, etc., but I have never found a bottle of cottonseed oil on the store shelves.
Moderation in all things, including moderation.
Most types of vegetable oil I might agree with, but if you’re still frying with good old lard then I can’t believe it isn’t going to kill you eventually.
Just like in the movie City Slickers when Curly died - “The man ate bacon three meals a day... You just can’t DO that!”
But man does it taste good...
Spaniards have a different diet than Americans. They don’t consume fried foods like Americans do.
Anyone remember the Woody Allen movie “Sleeper?”
Guy is put in suspended animation and wake sup 100 years in the future, when it’s been discovered that the best health foods are alcohol, fatty foods, and cigarettes!
Back in a college physiology class (15 years ago or so), our professor talked at length about cholesterol and it’s interaction in the diet and body, etc. The topic of cholesterol in the diet came up and was discussed at length. Your body will make cholesterol (it’s a hormone) and dispose of cholesterol at its leisure. Your genes have far more to do with the equation than your diet ever did, or could. Overall diet and health (and moreso, genetics) are more meaningful than whether you ate something fried in lard or peanut oil (there is no significant cholesterol in anything that is not from animals anyway, btw).
And don’t even get me started on the “Low fat” garbage. What a crock!
Got 80,000 miles on my F-250 Ford pick up running on 100% veggy oil. It hasn’t gained an ounce and still has lots of heart. What would have cost $14,000 plus to operate on dino diesel only cost $3,000 thanks to soy juice.
This has been pretty well known for a while. The problem is all the oil that tastes good is bad for you.
It would seem to me that, by now, scientists would be able to trace the progress of something like trans-fats (just as an example) through the digestive process and follow its entry into the bloodstream determining its ultimate effects on the body.
Instead, it appears, we are subject to a never-ending parade of "studies" which can only -- at best -- find a correlation between the ingestion of a food and the relative health of the population in the study. It's not so much science as statistics.
I don't know. Maybe all the really good scientists have been bought off to study global warming.
WOW! Another Flaming Liberal BS Myth BUSTED!!!
There are lots of ups and downs to this.
First of all, the best way to gain weight is the combination of carbohydrates and fats. However, if you are overweight, eating little or no carbohydrates, and a lot of protein and fat, and you will likely lose a lot of weight.
A high carbohydrate and low fat diet can be very bad for your health, possibly creating a fatty liver, high triglycerides, etc.
Coconut oil is a rarity, in that it is a “medium chain triglyceride”, which is absorbed directly and does not have to take the extensive route that most fats and oils do to be digested. It is very useful for people who have a hard time with their digestion of fats and oils.
Extracted oils are 100% fat!! Why would anyone use them? And never mind heart disease, havent you noticed how fat everyone is?? Gimme a break, people. Fried food LOL!! Keep it up!
I love chicken fried in WD-40, it tastes great and I have good memories about all the old lawnmowers I’ve fixed.
I can’t stand the taste of food fried in canola oil. It makes food taste awful. I use peanut oil or corn oil for deep frying. Olive oil for cooking and marinating vegetables/salads. Bacon grease for certain breakfast foods.
We eat a cross between a mediterranean and a southern diet.
We have a big family and no one is over-weight.
I forgot to add we use coconut oil for popping popcorn. I love it! I haven’t ventured into using it yet for baking though. I like my butter baked goodies! We go through so much butter..
[And remember when egg yolks were supposed to increase your cholesterol? ]
One egg a day will increase your HDL Cholestrol(the good kind). They are actually good for you especially the yolks. LOL.
