On his income taxes released today, we see that Romney gave $4 Million tithe donations to Mormon Church. Do Mormons help poor Americans with these donations? Do the Mormons have something similar to Catholic Charities, which helps thousands of Americans (both Catholic and non-Catholics) with basic life needs, medical help, childcare help, education help, etc. The main question is do Mormons use the $4 Million from Romney to ONLY advance the Mormon religion without helping the American poor. Does Romney even know or care what the Mormon Church does with his $4 Million donation? I think that is a fair question.
4 to 5 Billion dollar shopping mall in Salt Lake City.
The LDS Church reportedly give only a very small percentage to actual charity.

Actually these benefits are not just for Mormons. I don't know if the organization is still owned by the church and frankly I don't care. They perform the very finest service in the west.
I am still against Romney!
Tithing is separate from fast offerings that are funneled towards their welfare programs. The church relief programs take care of their people based on degree of activity and faithfulness.
I saw this firsthand while a member of the mormon church when I went to Georgia to help with the TS Alberto recovery. The church had a lot resources at its disposal, but initial efforts to rebuild went towards their “best” members and then continued down the line until the “inactives” were helped last.
However, the tithing money is being spent to construct a $5B+ and counting (original price of $2B) shopping mall in downtown SLC. Plus some very expensive apartment complexes near temple square and a mega million dollar beach resort in Hawaii to name a couple.
Not to mention that the LDS Church is Incorporated. It’s a corporation that has dozens of businesses. Church “leaders” are appointed to the Board of Directors of many, if not all of these businesses.
It’s quite a large corporation compared to other churches/denominations. Most everything I was told/taught while a member was to always put our best forward, be an example to others, etc.
The individual mormons were most likely and in my observations, extremely sincere in their desire to help those in need.
The church, my experience tells me that it pretty much looks at most of it from a PR angle.
Look up: Mormon disaster relief, Mormon Relief warehouses, Disaster help to Haiti, Africa, Indonesia, Japan, Joplin.
The Church has several hundred warehouses, canneries, farms to help the poor and needy of all faiths.
Get educated.
“That is not a question a Conservative would ask.”
Only an idiot would give away money when they don’t know where it is going, so, yes, a conservative does ask such a question.
Only a liberal thinks giving money away is the act of kindness and not actually enuring it goes where it should. It is why liberals love to tax, tax, tax. They think money is the gift itself.
“If the religion is tearing down or attacking the US have at it. Are you alleging thats what the mormans are doing?”
I think that is what some people are alleging. I think giving $4M to an organization ties you to the aims of the organization. So what are the aims of the organization?
Your strategy of saying you don’t care but you are going to argue about it anyway is rather inane.
Mormon tithes are NOT “donations”. They are necessary and must be paid in order to achieve the celestial kingdom and godhood.
If you don’t now the aims of the mormon religion look it up. For those of us who distinguish jihadists from mormoms we understand that trying to tear a mormon candidate down because he is a mormon is despicable and un-American.
and mormons too. LOL!
“Get an education.”
What the heck does your response to me have to do with my comment?
“Do Mormons help the poor with these donations?”
Yes, they do...
Look in to the network of Mormon Food Storage Centers/Canneries around the country. They are among the nation’s largest donators to Food Banks/Food Pantries for the poor/Soup Kitchens, worth tens of millions of dollars.
Despite being non-Mormon, we are privileged to be invited to use a cannery, thanks to friends who are Mormon. I save a TON of money yearly doing so.
Get educated: Read Mormon Disaster help for Haiti, Africa, Indonesia, Japan,Joplin or anywhere their is a major disaster etc. Mormon canneries, welfare farms, diaster warehouses. Cereal made and deliverd to the poor in Ethiopia, 20 tons every year, hundreds of wells and fresh water piping to African villages, etc;
It is all readily available on line for those who want to know.
jihadists will separate your head from your body, mormon theology./doctrine will separate your soul from God.
For a Christian, the latter is of greater concern.
Look it up...
Do Mormons help the poor with these donations?

You’re right of course. I can’t say that’s something I’ve ever worried about. How would that even happen?
Moral self-righteousness! Here? ON FR!!?? Impossible
Check on line for anything you want to know. The LDS Welfare program is primarily for the poor and needy of the Church. The Disaster Relief program is used to help people of all faiths world wide. Check Mormon Disaster help for Haiti, Indonesia, Japan, joplin, etc. Several hundred disaster relief warehouses, fully stocked, are scattered throughout the U. S. Atmit, an African cereal product for the very young and old is manufactured and shipped to Ethiopia each year(20 tons at no charge)to prevent starvation. Dozens of water wells have been drilled in Africa.
