Romney gave $4 Million donations to Mormon Church. Do Mormons help the poor with these donations?
January 24, 2012 | Ralph Mitchell

On his income taxes released today, we see that Romney gave $4 Million tithe donations to Mormon Church. Do Mormons help poor Americans with these donations? Do the Mormons have something similar to Catholic Charities, which helps thousands of Americans (both Catholic and non-Catholics) with basic life needs, medical help, childcare help, education help, etc. The main question is do Mormons use the $4 Million from Romney to ONLY advance the Mormon religion without helping the American poor. Does Romney even know or care what the Mormon Church does with his $4 Million donation? I think that is a fair question.

Tithing is a religious principle, and it is biblically based (New Testament).

- - - -
Fail. Tithing is an OLD TESTAMENT, not New, principle and is 30% not 10%.

Does your church open its books to the membership? Mine does as does every other Christian church.

Mormonism does not. What are they hiding? (I know the answer to that).

I don’t believe it. I’ve seen the opposite far too often.

If you think Mormonism is bad, then pray for inspiration and plant seeds and be confident that the Holy Spirit will follow with other tillers of the soil.

I KNOW that it is demonic; and I'll post the evidence to it all day long and let the words of scolds roll right off of me.

Didja ever find out what he thought about mormonISM?

You keep wanting to talk about the PEOPLE; when it's the THEOLOGY that is being discussed.

I would submit that each and every single one fall short of the Salvation that comes through, and only through Jesus Christ.

Not me.

HE made the offer: I accepted.

What's so hard about that?

John 6:28-29 (niv)

Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”

Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

1 John 3:21-24

Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.  And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.  The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

Mine does as does every other Christian church.

The only thing that is not 'open' is the individual record of those giving to the church.

The only one to sees it all is the treasurer. Oh, the folks who collect the plates and deliever the collections to the treasurer may get a glimpse of what's written on an envelope, or see a check, or but that's about it.

You are correct we are all sinners.
You are correct flawed people go to church, however I do not know Christian churches that give these people awards for being a prime example of what it means to be a Christian, as SLC lds have given to Reid and Romney for being mormon.
Reid and Romney are temple worthy mormons, which means in mormonISM that they will be gods of their own planets, if they keep tithing.
Again, you should learn about mormonISM before you defend them.
As far as mormon bashing because I say Romney and Reid are not fine upstanding citizens as mormon bashing, well then that is correct (eye roll)

Yeah, I’m really not sure why Mormons are menacing to Freepers.

Are there same strange things about their religion when compared with mine? Sure. But at the same time, you don’t see any news stories about Mormons in crime sprees, living off government handouts, have multiple children out of wedlock.

I’m sure there are some, but from my perspective all they seem to do is work hard, don’t ask for taxpayer money from me and contribute to society. Sort of what I wish about 50% of the rest of this country would do.

Sorry, SP.
I have not seen that behavior (not asking for anything). Even their own members are required to pay back the “charity”.
I am suspect about your friend’s account of the situation.

So, now that we’ve established that the problem is that we don’t like Mormonism, the question is what to do about Mormonism, evidently.

I can pray about it. I can continue to worship at my Lutheran Church (even though it is ELCA, and as such a sect and not really a Church).

I can trust to the fact that all things redound to the will of God. God has a purpose for the Mormon Church, though I do not understand it. Would that it were otherwise, and God decided that the purpose for the Mormon Church were at an end, I have no doubt at all that He would take steps.

For me, I’m an evangelical Christian. I won’t, however, sit here and pretend I have all the answers about God, His will, the nature of grace, and His plan. I can’t, for example, understand how Christ can refer to Enoch as scripture, and yet it isn’t part of the Cannon.

I don’t know. I have no doubt of my salvation through Christ. I have many doubts about almost everything else.

That Reid and Romney are temple worthy is a matter for their Wards or Stakes, and not a matter for me.

Same with my church, but I still always give cash. Mormonism made me a bit paranoid.

If you want to see the last 5 years books for our church, you just walk up to the secretary and ask. If you want further back, you have to wait a couple of minutes for her to walk you to storage.

As I’ve been told a number of times, it’s not the Mormons, it’s what they believe that is so horrible. I can’t figure it out myself, but outside of FR, I don’t think much about it. I don’t think I know any personally.

As a born again Christian, I will tell you mormonISM is a vile bastardization of the Word of God.
We are commanded to expose false prophets.
Exposing mormonISM should be an issue for you.
A temple worthy president would be an issue - learn about mormonISM and the issue will be made clear.
I advise you to learn about mormonISM before your continued defense of it.

A lot of people prayed for me when I was Mormon. Still others confronted me with the words of my leaders and problems in Mormonism. Those are the ones that broke through the brainwashing and led me to the Lord. What you see on these threads WORKS and works well. Not just me but thousands of Mormons are leaving every year because the internet is forcing them to confront the problems in their cult.

IOW, don’t scold us if you haven’t been there.

Don’t believe what you see on the outside of Mormonism, it is rotten to the core and they are trained to put on a good front in order to get people interested in them.

Mormons don’t believe salvation comes through Christ but through Joseph Smith.

Elsie has quotes from their own writings that prove that.

As an Evangelical Christan you shouldn’t be sitting back, you should be witnessing to Mormons and other non-Christians and help guide them to the Jesus of the Bible.

In order to do that, you need to know what they really believe, that they lie about their beliefs and how to answer them.

Mormons are a stubborn lot and it usually takes a spiritual 2x4 to get through to them.

I thank God that people I knew when I was LDS didn’t have your live and let live attitude.

What about their temple rites where they wear the apron of Lucifers priesthoods? Allegiance to lucifer doesn’t matter in a candidate? As a Christian, it matters to me.

In their Temple they wear a green apron that symbolizes Lucifer’s priesthood.
www.ldsendowment.org
THE APRON
[Lucifer returns as Adam is eating the fruit.]
LUCIFER: That is right.
EVE: [To Adam.] It is better for us to pass through sorrow that we may know the good from the evil. [To Lucifer.] I know thee now. Thou art Lucifer, he who was cast out of Father’s presence for rebellion.
LUCIFER: Yes. You are beginning to see already.
ADAM: What is that apron you have on?
LUCIFER: It is an emblem of my power and priesthoods.
ADAM: Priesthoods?
LUCIFER: Yes, priesthoods.
ADAM: I am looking for Father to come down to give us further instructions.
LUCIFER: Oh, you are looking for Father to come down, are you?
[Elohim and Jehovah are heard speaking outside the Garden Room.]
ELOHIM: Jehovah, we promised Adam that we would visit him and give him further instructions. Come, let us go down.
JEHOVAH: We will go down, Elohim.
ADAM: I hear their voices; they are coming.
LUCIFER: See—you are naked. Take some fig leaves and make you aprons. Father will see your nakedness. Quick! Hide!
[Lucifer withdraws from view.]
ADAM: Brethren and sisters, put on your aprons.
