Romney gave $4 Million donations to Mormon Church. Do Mormons help the poor with these donations?
January 24, 2012 | Ralph Mitchell

Posted on 01/24/2012 6:55:11 AM PST by mitchell001

On his income taxes released today, we see that Romney gave $4 Million tithe donations to Mormon Church. Do Mormons help poor Americans with these donations? Do the Mormons have something similar to Catholic Charities, which helps thousands of Americans (both Catholic and non-Catholics) with basic life needs, medical help, childcare help, education help, etc. The main question is do Mormons use the $4 Million from Romney to ONLY advance the Mormon religion without helping the American poor. Does Romney even know or care what the Mormon Church does with his $4 Million donation? I think that is a fair question.

For those of us who distinguish jihadists from mormoms we understand that trying to tear a mormon candidate down because he is a mormon is despicable and un-American.

You are DESPICABLE!

  9. I’m Superior; I don’t HAVE a creed - I’ve got 13 Articles of Faith.
10. I'm Superior; I have 4 "Bibles"-- the standard works (5 if you count the JST) -- you've only got one: in as far as it is translated correctly.
11. I’m Superior; I can lie with impunity about such things as church membership, church growth, church doctrine, church history, church influence, etc. —                           -- You can’t.
12. I’m Superior; I am right (everybody knows) when I say 'evangelical' Christians are lunatics --

17. I’m Superior; I have magic underwear to protect me from the bogey man -- you don’t.
18. I’m Superior; I have secret clasps and grips to give the angel so I get admitted to the celestial kingdom -- you don’t ;so you can’t.
19. I'm Superior; I know secret handshake codes for afterlife entrances-- you don't.
20. I’m Superior; I will see Joseph Smith setting on the right hand of GOD, when I get to Mormon heaven, and he will recognize me and judge me favorably                              -- You’re on your own; when you get to wherever you’re going!
21. I’m Superior; I’m going to hie to Kolob -- you’re going to who knows where.
22. I’m Superior; I get to have a harem and act like a celestial stud for time and all eternity -- you don’t.
23. I’m Superior; I have sun stones, moon stones, sky stones, cloud stones, Saturn stones, and the evil eye of Osirus guarding my temple
-- You have nothing but a stupid cross.
24. I’m Superior; My church has billions in assets stashed away -- yours has taken a stupid vow of poverty.
25. I'm Superior; Last - we have the power to keep a whole race out of our priesthood if we wanted to reinsert our 148-year legacy  (we ARE still keeping an entire GENDER at bay!)
26.  I'm superior; I have the "higher law" -- everyone else "lives under the "lesser law' because I say so...(over and over).

Actually bert they identified themselves to islam:

"We will establish our religion with the sword. We will trample down our enemies and make it one gore of blood…from the Rocky Mountains to the Atlantic Ocean. I will be to this generation a 2nd Muhammad, whose motto in treating for peace was ‘the Al-Qur’an or the sword.’ So shall it be with us —" ‘Joseph Smith’ (History of the Church, Vol. 3, p. 167).

In 1855, at a time when Christian literature generally ridiculed Muhammad as the Antichrist and the archenemy of Western civilization, Elders George A. Smith (1817–75) and Parley P. Pratt (1807–57) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles delivered lengthy sermons demonstrating an accurate and balanced understanding of Islamic history and speaking highly of Muhammad’s leadership. Elder Smith observed that Muhammad was “descended from Abraham and was no doubt raised up by God on purpose” to preach against idolatry. He sympathized with the plight of Muslims, who, like Latter-day Saints, found it difficult “to get an honest history” written about them. Speaking next, Elder Pratt went on to express his admiration for Muhammad’s teachings, asserting that “upon the whole, … [Muslims] have better morals and better institutions than many Christian nations.” lds.org

In recent years, respect for the spiritual legacy of Muhammad and for the religious values of the Islamic community has led to increasing contact and cooperation between Latter-day Saints and Muslims around the world. This is due in part to the presence of Latter-day Saint congregations in areas such as the Levant, North Africa, the Persian Gulf, and Southeast Asia. The Church has sought to respect Islamic laws and traditions that prohibit conversion of Muslims to other faiths by adopting a policy of nonproselyting in Islamic countries of the Middle East. Yet examples of dialogue and cooperation abound, including visits of Muslim dignitaries at Church headquarters in Salt Lake City; Muslim use of Church canning facilities to produce halal (ritually clean) food products; Church humanitarian aid and disaster relief sent to predominantly Muslim areas including Jordan, Kosovo, and Turkey; academic agreements between Brigham Young University and various educational and governmental institutions in the Islamic world; the existence of the Muslim Student Association at BYU; and expanding collaboration between the Church and Islamic organizations to safeguard traditional family values worldwide. 11 The recent initiation of the Islamic Translation Series, cosponsored by BYU and the Church, has resulted in several significant exchanges between Muslim officials and Latter-day Saint Church leaders. A Muslim ambassador to the United Nations predicted that this translation series “will play a positive role in the West’s quest for a better understanding of Islam.” lds.org

Elder Neal A. Maxwell of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles focused on the common spiritual heritage of Mormons and Muslims: I was grateful to state that we belong to a church that affirms the truths taught by Muhammad lds.org

Until a few weeks ago, I would have thought that comment to be beneath you.

Like the power struggle that occurred after ol' Joe's death, the sudden disappearance of Sandy and Resty has left a palpable vacuum in MORMONland, and there apparently are MANY who are jockeying for their old positions on FR.

Private money. Private.

Private money; public consequences.

Nobody's telling Romney he can't spend his private $ as he so chooses. (For those who might think that, it's a kneejerk overreaction)

By your extended logic -- and many other FREEPERs on this thread -- then we shouldn't care which businesses were funding the KKK during the 1924 Democratic National Convention known as the Klanbake. (You can see Wikipedia for details on this: 1924 Democratic National Convention)

That was an expensive national convention for participants. Not only was it in New York, but it took a record 103 ballots -- running from June 24 to July 9.

You know, the KKK, which made a strong showing @ the convention, didn't operate on "vapors." They needed $ to make their national, regional & local operations run. This was especially so when they began making inroads into the Democratic party in the 1920s...and certainly continued for the next 40 plus years.

To extend your parallel logic, "private $"
...given by "private individuals"
...to "private" orgs (like the KKK)
...is nobody's biz.

What a pathetic argument and one that can't be consistently defended given this KKK (& many similar) example(s).

If a candidate is financially supporting (say, 10% of their lifetime income) a racist org, that's of public interest. The Mormon org, policy-wise, was OPENLY racist thru at least 1978...when Romney was 31 years old...and still openly promotes racism thru its Book of Mormon and Pearl of Great price "scriptures."

...as a mormon you should know that without a temple...

A MORMON would feel no need for a RECOMMEND to go there - thus no compeling reason to 'give' at LEAST 105 to Mormon, Inc.

2 Corinthians 9:7

Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

And I was “tearing down” Mormonism (telling the truth) long before Mitt ran for office and will keep doing so until my last breath.

I do know all of this and agree. My only point to the post was that no city, county or state, even UT, deducts from any person's paycheck to give to the LDS church.

As I also said, I totally disagree with the LDS church and all of it's propaganda, intimidation and slandering of non-LDS churches and people but I don't intend to slam anyone who is unfortunate enough to have found themselves entrapped by that cult (as in children born in LDS families.)

It is a complete hoax, lie and dangerous to the genuine faith in Jesus Christ and I know that the LDS church labels me an "apostate" because I deny them. Unlike those who have never become a Mormon who can be baptized after their death, I am not subject to any "redemption" on account of my acceptance then denial of that cult - I am condemned to outer darkness, according to JS and BYH, fortunately, I now know the truth. To the LDS church, I am very dangerous because OF the fact that I once was one of them and can speak to others caught up in their lies.

Uh...

We are standing with anOTHER famous MORMON, Brigham Young.

HE surely would not BASH MORMONs; WOULD he???

"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;

and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,

and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.

So would most ALL of us here.

Thank you for your testimony, zerosix.

This brings up another point about mormonism..I know of no Christian church that condemns to outer darkness those who simply leave the fold. To mormonsm and to many of its members, rejecting the church is seen as unforgivable sin.
