SummaryIn 2009, Congressman Gingrich supported a candidate for a special election for the 23rd district in New York that was pro-choice, pro gay marriage and supportive of numerous other items that most Republicans opposes. A more conservative candidate was available, but did not win a primary that consisted of a vote by 11 district members and not a public vote.
Congressman Gingrich came out in suppport for Mrs Scozzafava as she was the selected candidate for the Republican party. He asserted that many of her principles were in line with the Republican party. He appeared on numerous radio shows to defend his support for her.
As the special election neared, Mrs Scozzafava was trailing the Conservative Party candidate Hoffman. She dropped out of the race to prevent from splitting the vote, but threw her support behind the Democrat instead of the Conservative.
After the election, Congressman Gingrich stated that the Scozzafava candidacy was indeed a mistake that never should have happened.
The special election for the 23rd Congressional District is an important test leading up to the mid-term 2010 elections. Our best chance to put responsible and principled leaders in Washington starts here, with Dede Scozzafava.
The Republican Revolution in 1994 started very much like what we see today. Like then, our country is reeling from misguided liberal policies, high taxes and out-of-control spending. This special election in New Yorks 23rd Congressional District could be the first
... more election of the new Republican Revolution, but we need the momentum to get it started
Book Signing
Congressman Gingrich was confronted at a book signing concerning his support for Dede Scozzafava.
He responded by noting that she was the nominee picked by the local representatives, and that she supported a number of conservative ideals and principles.
Newt Gingrich vs his book "To Try Men's Souls"
Both Laura Ingraham and Hannity interviews on this happening was pulled by them.
Yeah, but she kept pushing and repeating the same things.
Yeah, “brown nosers and yes men” was getting old.
And the accusations that people were being zotted just because they were Mormon, and the lies, and ‘we are not allowed to defend our faith on here’ poor persecuted mormon syndrome were getting old as well.
wooah, saundra duffy and restornu are gone...
Yeah, and within 3 hours of each other.
my 2.5 year old wanted to watch that 10 times while we woofed and howled.
restornu, we have long debated you on your Mormon faith. It will be sad if you are zotted.
‘I dont much care what people think of Free Republic or purity or whatever. This is a freaking rebellion already!!’
The problem is that we are pretty much screwed as a nation because the deficits are so astronomical. This will lead to anarchy if not stopped - I wrote a whole book about how we are really in a civil war already. Hard times require hard measures.
good lord man....u ignored repeated warnings and as a vet you brought this on yourself
this forum is rightly dedicated to stopping Romney and Newt is our best hired gun left in the fight
get on board or ride the bolt
bolton is big mittbot
sadly
You ddin’t waste any time did you?
I will miss her crazy rants and mangled theology...
Resty is a rabid mormonISM apologist who works FR as her ‘path to goddesshood’. She must defend the LDS inc candidate at all cost, or until she is zotted. It appears she wants the zot, to wear as a badge of Mormon honor, the ultimate victim.
For a fast food burger, you can't beat Culver's double bacon deluxe! I swear, everything is better with bacon on it. It's like it's a magic food or something.
Sometimes lucid, sometimes not. Was English her second language? Or perhaps she was off her meds sometimes?
Yeap, I was in the same sinking boat there. And this time the initial enthusiasm with Bachmann (did you know she raised 28 foster children?), the disappointment with Sarah not running, the fevered support for Cain until...(where'd he go?) and now my support for Gingrich, who I genuinely like for his ability to articulate and explain conservative values now that I know a lot more about his past and how it's been misrepresented by the faux media.
It's already been a roller coaster ride.
I think Gingrich can win this, truly. It's going to be a buster getting through the next 10 months of media mouth-frothing, end of the world hysteria though.
They just couldn't take the Mitt loss....
Hmmmmm, the religion forum is going to be a bit more quiet.
Hmmm, I should check the time markers before opining.
