I signed up a while ago to help verify the signatures on the recall petition against Scott Walker of WI. I just received an email asking me to download a program so that I may help.
Problem is, I'm afraid to download ANYTHING. I put nothing against these b@st@rds to scr&w us, so I am hesitant about downloading the program.
I tried to contact the office and of course no one was available to speak to, so I left a message. I am eager to help Gov. Walker out, which is the reason for this vanity post of mine.
Has anyone else volunteered for this? Any problems?
ALL help and advice would be appreciated. I am off the rest of today and tomorrow so I'd like to get a jump start.
Do you have anti-virus software? If you do, just download it. It’s ridiculous to live in fear like this.
DON”T TOUCH IT!!!! If you don’t know the source of the e-mail leave it alone. You may be opening a virus. Continue to try and contact the office you spoke of and be aware, those union goons are capable of anything. You shouldn’t have used your own personal e-mail account. You’re doing a good thing but protect your privacy and use a ‘’G-Mail’’ account. Google ‘’G-Mail account’’ and it will explain how to open one. But always, with any e-mail account, if you don’t recognize or know the sender , LEAVE IT ALONE!!!
download it don’t run it then upload it to.

or send me the link and I’ll check it out.
If time allows, can you ask about this?
I got an email from them today and they made no mention of downloading any new program.
About two weeks ago they sent one to test their software, but nothing new since then.
In fact, part of today’s email read:
“Our testing of Verify The Recall’s software (built by True The Vote) has been a great success! Note that it is no longer necessary to test the software system, and that the system itself will be cut off from volunteer access on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012 to prepare for the gubernatorial recall verification process.”
The email contact I have for them is: Verify@wigol.org
I’d hold off until you talked with them, probably Monday. It can wait.
Yes, I do have anti-virus software....and have downloaded viruses before.
Which is why I am hesitant. Anti-virus software is NOT 100%. But thanks for your concern.
I haven’t heard of anything like that. I would be cautious too because the libs are desperate. I would call the local GOP office or Gov. Walker’s office to check on it.
You have FReepmail. =)
I did....got voice mail. Left my name, number and reason for calling. Hopefully someone is checking their voice mails!
I’m working with 2 different groups to Verify the Recall, and I’ve not been asked to download anything. The group that is working with computers asks you go to a website and login with a special identifier number to work. We send our work in when we are done.
The other group is going to have us hand review copies of petitions for irregularities. No downloads.
Go to VerifytheRecall.com or VerifytheRecall.org for more information. We can’t do anything yet because the GAB hasn’t finished scanning the petitions.
I think your notice is a scam.
That’s the email I received, but it’s only good for the weekend. I wanted to jump start immediately. As the Boss said “an EPIC call to action”.
I must do all I can possibly do, as a little “pee-on”.
Look at the hidden header information.
Is it the same as other legitimate emails from the campaign?
Then it’s probably legit. Though you should wait for verification.
If it’s not, save the header info. It’ll be needed for prosecution.
Wisconsin Verify the Recall Interest Ping
Is somebody trying to run a scam against the VerifytheRecall folks? We are not verifying anything at this time because the GAB has not finished processing the petitions yet. The best estimate is late next week.
If you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list just FReep Mail me.
The email included a special identifier number...
First Name: (my first name)
Last Name:(my last name)
ID Number: (deleted by me)
It’s not a virus and this is a legit group. Unfortunately, they cannot do anything about any fraud they find, the can only expose it as they did with the same day voter registration errors they found in Milwaukee. Only the Walker people can do it.
The GAB has screwed us though. They promised us copies of the petitions tomorrow but now said they need more time so we won’t get them until later next week. We had over 1000 people in Waukesha County trained scheduled to help verify and had to cancel everyone. It’s a mess.
From the Wisconsin GOP:
The Republican Party of Wisconsin and the Friends of Scott Walker Campaign are the only groups that are legally allowed to challenge the recall petitions. We are in no way affiliated with the third party groups operating Verify the Recall. Our program relies on an in office hand review program supported by trained field staff. We are focused on ensuring all the data that gets into our challenge system is clean and double checked for accuracy. Our in office approach ensures the integrity of our database. While Verify the Recall has the full right and ability to process and review the petitions our challenge database will be sole source utilized to form our formal legal challenge made to the Government Accountability Board in defense of Governor Walker. Legally, we are not allowed to collaborate with, accept information from, or process any data from the groups involved with Verify the Recall.
For additional information please contact the Republican Party of Wisconsin at: 608-257-4765 or victory@wisgop.org
Ooooo, excellent advise! Will do.
Ping to #16.
Damn voice mail again! One would think they would have people on 24/7. Ugh.
I’ll just wait and hopefully someone will call me back. I want to do whatever I can to help Gov. Walker.
Patience is certainly NOT one of my virtues, lol.
I volunteered, they have a web cam going right now.
