Newt Gingrich leads the South Carolina Republican presidential primary with 40% and is followed by Mitt Romney with 26%, Ron Paul with 18%, and Rick Santorum with 13%.
Gingrich has gained 7 percentage points since the survey conducted January 17-18 and Romney has lost 6 percentage points since that survey.
Gingrich leads Romney 47% to 24% among self-identified Republicans, followed by Paul and Santorum with 14% each. Paul leads among independents and Democrats with 33%, followed by Romney with 31%, Gingrich with 18%, and Santorum with 10%.
Gingrich leads among those likely primary voters saying they are supporters of the Tea Party with 48%, followed by Romney with 19%, Santorum with 16%, and Paul with 14%. Gingrich leads with 33% among those saying they are not supporters of the Tea Party or are undecided about the Tea Party, followed by Romney with 31%, and Paul with 22%.

Which is precisely why he has no business going up against an ideologue who does "have the capacity to explain with some color and sort of force" the ideas of redistribution.
Krauthammer has been slow to come to admitting the obvious fact that Romney doesn't "explain" conservative ideas because they are not part of his intellectual DNA, as they are with someone who has immersed himself/herself in the ideas of America's founding history.
Gingrich's quick analysis of opposing ideas, combined with an ability to put them in historical context, didn't just come about by osmosis. They came about through a lifelong study of history. In recent decades, Ronald Reagan is the only American president who was so familiar with our founding ideas that he could weave them into discussions on "issues" of the day; thereby giving clarity to threats to liberty.
By the same token, the Fall 2012 opponent has studied, been mentored in, and well understands the ideology and strategies for presenting his case for redistribution, government planning, and control--all the while masking them in benevolence and "taking care" of those to whom he appeals, even as his policies are enslaving future generations.
His Republican opponent needs to be able to rebut, rebuke, and reveal the cloaked tyranny encased in his appealing message to those who see him as a benevolent leader, not a threat to their posterity's Creator-endowed right to be free.
Gingrich is right.
The goal of the primaries is to determine a candidate who can bring such clarity to the ideas of conservatism that Obama's counterfeit ideas will be defeated. Romney, in the words of Krauthammer, "simply doesn't have the capacity" to do it. At least, he has not shown it to this point; and that "capacity" cannot be coached. It must be a natural outgrowth of understanding.
Is this an open primary? Otherwise, who cares what rats and indys think.
I guess it hasn’t dawned on you that debates have absolutely dominated this election cycle. And they will continue to do so. This genie is out of the bottle and cannot be put back in.
Those in the “debates don’t really matter meme” are fighting the last war. Everybody who “fights the last war” loses the current war.
I had the same feeling in 2004 with Bush/Cheney. After a Cheney campaign stop where he was running solo (without Bush), my wife and I both left thinking that the wrong guy was on top of the ticket.
When this is done, The muck-e-mucks that are running these two Carnivals better have a come to Jesus meeting even if it is in a smoke filled back room.
In this meeting they better come up with a solution or solutions to make them relevant because like you I have also come to the conlusion that they are irrelevant ridiculous and a joke.
We Conservatives ( and Republicans ) deserve better.
Just checked politifact.com’s site trying to say Gingrich was for cap and trade.
Very weak arguments considering he testified against it in Congress.
He was not in favor of it, so quit lying. What he did say earlier was he could see it maybe combined with some other system (which wasn’t the case with cap and trade as we know it), but it appears he changed his mind on that part as well.

Romney is hinting that he will not debate in Florida. Just stated on Fox.
Sarah said to vote for Newt on Tuesday night. Wednesday was when his poll numbers stated climbing.She still has it.

I hope he sticks with that idea. It will make him look weak.
I can’t think of anything better than if Newt, if he wins, that he convinces Romney and Paul to join him. Romney as Secretary of Treasury etc.
Kraut man (and about half of Fox News) is on my doo doo list.
They all have a blind eye for the liberal guy .
Until, and unless, they see the light I will not be paying much attention to anything they have to say.
Except to consider the oposite of what they suggest.

Do you really believe that? Do you think Newt can win? I would vote for Newt over Romney in a minute if I wasn’t afraid Newt would lose to Obama.
Mid-week, Intrade had Romney climbing daily, almost to 90. Like the election was already over.
There’s been a huge turnaround in that trend last couple days.
Bets are still on balance for Romney, but he’s free-fallen 20%. Dropping now, almost by the minute.
All of which, has gone to Gingrich.
I’d like to place a bet with you on that but have a distinct feeling you won’t be here long enough to pay off.

Unless they wearing those ugly polyester pant suits and that that cheezy rendition of the Dorothy Hamel haircut I have noticed many women want:
* A guy who isn't afraid to take charge.
* Call them as they see them.
* Is not afraid to give some SH!+ back when needed.
* Can get or provide a job.
* Or a politican that can establish an enviroment for their Husband to get a job.
I have a friend who's former uber liberal Obama voting wife is now one of us after seeing what Obummer has done to their lives ( she reviles the anointed one now BTW...)
Many women like her will probably take a flyer with a former bad boy like Newt, vs. Obama who in the words of Ted Nugent is a metaphorical Vegetarian, i.e. he don't know how to hunt, and now their hubbies are starving too...
