You’re asking for trouble posting that kind of stuff on FR. Newt is the new untouchable messiah around here and Newt bashing will not be tolerated. /s To be serious, I agree with the article, its Newt’s problem and its fair game to question him about it. It also speaks volumes of the character of Newt Gingrich.

I’m at the point where I’m rooting for Newt. Who’d’a thunk it? I can dream about a brokered convention where I get the nomination, but we can do a lot worse than Newt. Isn’t that how it always ends...that explains the calluses on my nose. Either way, anarchy is on the horizon. Why is the left so angry when they are winning?

Character is important, but the the elitists forced them out. Cain and Bachmann weren’t good enough, for the GOP, media, Rove, and the other RINOS. So, what are we left with? The GOP forced us to look elsewhere, other than their beloved Romney. The republican party will never get another dime from me.

But the left only takes apart the right-—never the JFK’s, LBJ, FDR’s, BJC, Zero.

True, character matters, but too good-—a person (like Marcus Aurelius) who was not Machiavellian enough to kill the evil Commodus, because he was his son, destroyed Rome. The philosopher king knew how evil Commodus was even in his childhood, and he allowed him to become the next emperor.

That being said-—great people—like St. Paul, St. Augustine, etc., have very checkered, evil pasts and turn out great——Past wrongs-—especially if you believe in God, doesn’t mean you can’t change.

The fact that Newt has grandkids maybe will make him understand the dire need to protect this last, great hope of mankind. He sure says some great things and has written some great books.

I have thrown all my support behind Newt Gingrich. I would hope all rational conservatives would do the same. Sure there will always be some panty-waisted pharisees out there analyzing their navels but screw them. This is war.

Note to Ruth..character only matters to you if it is a republican. If its a Democrat they could rape a girl scout and you would say she shouldn’t have been selling cookies

We have Obama as President, and someone is concerned with Newt’s character? Give me a break!

Bullshit! If character was an issue, neither Bill Clinton nor obama would have even been nominated, much elected.

Here it is.

We went from not knowing about presidential indiscretions, John Kennedy, to knowing FAR too much, Bill Clinton. The pendulum is swinging back.

We don't want to know about Newt's sex life. (ooo a creepy feeling just came over me). It has NOTHING to do with him being president. Bill Clinton has forever changed that dynamic. The public doesn't want to go through anything like that again. The press, and some here on FR are trying to push this in our faces. We aren't having any. Times have CHANGED. Maybe not for the better, but changed they have. From boxers or briefs, to thongs, to BJs in the white house, to things you can do with cigars, to jizz on a blue dress. All VERY PRESIDENTIAL! Aren't we glad we know about all this?

Now comparing what Newt's disgruntled wife SAID he did to the Bill Clinton stuff, (not to mention Paula Jones, Juanita Broderick rape, Kathleen Willey grope and dead cat), seems quite tame, even IF true.

So, drop it already. No one wants to hear it and don't care about it anyway. It has already backfired BIG TIME on the press and looks to guarantee Newt a win in South Carolina and maybe the nomination. Wait...... I changed my mind. Keep it up.

I’m not looking for a candidate to have a slobbering love affair with, I’m looking for one to beatch slap Obama in the debates & general election. Newt would be the dude to go all Elin Nordegren on BO.

This article was written as if there's a fundamental difference in the character of the 4 GOP candidates.

Ludicrous on it's face.

I believe all 4 sincerely believe they would be the correct answer to the times.

All 4 would do their best, as they see it, to save the Republic.

All 4 know the Republic is in near-term existential danger.

All 4 would be better than the anti-American Barak Obama.

And, if character was the defining, essential requirement for effective leadership, King David...yes THAT King David...would never have assumed the throne.

You know, the fella that Jesus Christ was DIRECTLY descended from. The fella that God Jehova his own self both placed in power...and forgave for the murder of his principal general...just so David could have a piece of her a$$.

The "Holier-than-thous sh!t has crossed the threshold of splitting the party and destroying the republic.

It's crossed the threshold of war.

I will vote for NEWT if he is on the ballot in my state.

I have already voted for an adulterer to be CIC, even after I had said I would NEVER vote for this man. I really believed when I cast that vote it was my duty for love of country.

Now for all the ‘holier’ than thou, that say I can only vote for flawless characters I would like to quote something for to ‘ponder’ as this election season give US our opportunity to ‘hire’ a new leader.

Jeremiah 3:8 (This is what the Heavenly Father had Jeremiah pen and it is still relevant to this day.)

AND I saw, when for all causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of DIVORCE; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared NOT, but went and played the harlot also.

SO DIVORCE and/or adultery is NOT the unpardonable SIN... YES it is a sin, but is is not ranked differently than any of the other TEN. Our Creator is a divorcee, course HE was NOT the sinner.

Now how many that are so offended by NEWT’s sins believe for one minute he would have refused our neighbor to the NORTH offer to sell US oil.

WHY are we allowing the pit of vipers who are very busy destroying US FORCE US to revisit a political candidate's personal SINS, while our economy is circling literally the drain?

EVEN on NEWT'S worst day he is head and shoulders above those who poke their finger in our eye and strip US clean bare.

*shrug*

In a slightly more perfect world, we’d be able to take Newt’s fire and his (mostly) conservative stances and fuse them with Romney’s squeaky clean personal life into one super-candidate.

As it is, we’ve got to make the best of the hand we’re holding in 2012. Gingrich is far from my ideal candidate, and I don’t agree with many of the things he has done in the past. If he gets the nomination, however, I’ll do my best to help him get elected. Because I have a feeling an Obama 2nd term will make the 1st term seem like a paragon of fiscal restraint and mainstream social values by comparison.
