The current head of the Weather Channel has called for the stripping of credentials and degrees of all meteorologists who do not follow the Party Dogma of Global Warming/Climate Change/whatever the hell they call it this week. This is right out of the Stalinist playbook. Lysenko is laughing hit butt off in Hell right now.
I can’t read the article on my webtv but I get the left wing charges against broadcast meteorologists. I wanted to be one back in the 70’s. I was facing AF retirement and was worried about getting a civilian job in the LA market. I attended UCLA broadcast journalism classes. You see I already had an MS in meteorology but also in aerospace engineering which is what I did in the AF after 10 years as a weather officer. So I was hoping toreturn to weather on the TV screen. Certification of broadcast meteorologist had already begun by the AMS. I felt I had a leg up. Turns out I retired into a good enginering job. I have respect for those meteorologists who doubt the man made climate change. They may be gov,media or private consultants but likely are not getting grants to fake climatology. My best years in the USAF were supporting air and space missions as a weather officer. The engineering years were management. Support your local weatherman who works hard and thinks about you.

I am referring to local stations that are not Marxist owned
and controlled.
Surely there are a number of those left in the USSA, but maybe I am wrong.

If we really wanted to screw the left, we would all come out in favor of the AGW hypothesis. If the climate is really warming, and if the cause is really manmade carbon, then the highest-priority response would be a crash program to replace all coal plants with nuclear reactors. That would be several hundred of them just in this country, starting right now.
I can’t speak for the TV folks, but operational mets in the fed gov tend to be more of a conservative lot. A few years ago, the NWS conducted an internal global warming survey. Naturally, I opened up on it with both barrels. Strangely, the results were not sent out. I don’t think they got the results they were expecting. I finally heard that management was generally “drinking the koo-aid” as my boss put it. The operational forecasters (the ones who deal with REAL weather on a day-to-day basis) pretty much felt it was liberal hogwash. Many NWS forecasters (myself included) are former military. Hence the conservative tilt.
